Will NPCs loot?

Will NPCs loot your items if your slain? Recently I died and my body was gone when I arrived there. I figured it decayed but I wondered if NPCs will pick up and use items from slain PCs or if only PCs can loot bodies.

As a rule, only if an IMM is inside for a roleplay will NPCs loot. Some will pick things up off the ground, but I have not known any to loot corpses. Likely you just were not in exactly the place you thought you were.
