Animal Empathy

Post by Jerigo » Thu Mar 11, 2004 2:53 am

If a ranger already has a pet, will animal empathy still work correctly? Or will it automatically dismiss the current pet? Or is there no limit on the number of pets that one can control at once?

Did I ever suggest that we link the number of followers one can have to their charisma? You can only have a number of followers equal to your charisma modifier? This would require everyone to put at least one point in cha to get a mount AND pet. And we could just up the requirement if we wanted. A thought.

Right now I have a gray mare, and on my score sheet it says that it is my pet and that I have no mount. If I tame another animal as a pet, then will the horse be moved over the mount column? That's assuming that I read what you wrote correctly. As I read it, it looks like it is possible to have one mountable animal (like a horse, I guess?) and one pet animal (like a dog?)

If your mount is in your pet category, it means it was your pet before the new split pet/mount categories were brought in. If you purchase or obtain a pet, your horse will gobyebye :) What I'd suggest is take all your gear off your mount, dimiss it, then buy the same mob back from the vendor, which will then move it to it's appropriate column, mount. You are then freee to obtain a pet without loosing your horse.

On a side note, is it against the rules to obtain a second mount in the mount column and have two horses?

Would think doing something like getting a second mount while the other is a pet is bug abuse. But thats just me...

A second horse would not be code abuse... I would be using it for a draft horse... and sure, it's my pet.. or since I have only a pony, I need a bigger horse to carry all my extra stuff!!! I really don't think there's a problem with having 2 horses, no matter which category they're in... perhaps the way you RolePLay having a second horse could give you problems, but I doubt it... Or maybe having a wardog or warfox for your mount and having an ox for a pet to carry all your extra stuff....hmmm...there's a thought... 8)

Does that mean you can't have a riding horse and a pack horse?

Okay, and to tell if it's a pet or a mount? Does it say in the description?

Edited to remove IC info.

Pack & Riding Horses

Post by Andreas » Tue Mar 16, 2004 7:03 pm

So it IS allowable to have a pack horse (pet) and riding horse (mount)?

I'm a bit confused here. I'm building pack horses as pets and riding horses as mounts and want to make sure players will be able to use them both appropriately.
