Being Faithed
Being Faithed
Hello!
There seems to be some odd mass panic lately around the game for becoming part of a faith which lacks a faith manager. Worry not, my friends! Our lovely faith system makes it incredibly easy for members of the immortal team to see who is a waiting hopeful simply by typing who!
Some tips if you are waiting:
-Make sure you're on the faith list! This is the most important part of being noticed.
-Play your character! It's hard to catch someone to faith them if you only see them on alts. No one will ask you to swap over! Don't forget, you won't get faithed with only a few hours invested, either! You need to be out there roleplaying.
-Spend time with and learn from people in the faith you're waiting from. You could even write what you learn to impress the inevitable visit from someone to faith you!
-Remember right now it's summer time. Both you, and the staff member who faiths people are probably more busy!
-Enjoy your time in the period of 'learning' you only get it once!
-HAVE FUN!
Those of you active in a faith who lacks a faith manager who are helping out with IC lessons and rp thank you very much! However, please know that using osay otell ask or any other channel to passively complain/hint about wanting the slot doesn't help anything. Just enjoy the game, be an active member and know there is no one exempt from the opportunity to be considered for faith manager!

Re: Being Faithed
Just want to bump this up to the top again and add: There's no need to send in an application. Getting a quest takes time, and greatly depends on the amount of time you play the alt. So please be patient and playing and on the faith list, or set with a hopeful title.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Re: Being Faithed
Addition: Do the legwork. Avoid sitting at inquirer, not moving yourself to hopeful, and wondering what's wrong with the FMs.

Re: Being Faithed
There's nothing wrong with sitting at hopeful! I treat inquirers and hopefuls in a very similar way at the start and someone should not be ignored just because they've been sitting at inquirer. It's a faith manager's job to give what info is needed for a pc to potentially move from inquirer to hopeful.

Oh no, wasn't commenting on an ill-informed newbie situation. Thats understandable.Lirith wrote:There's nothing wrong with sitting at hopeful! Re: Being Faithed
My opinion doesn't just apply to newbies. Lots if people sit at inquirer because they're still making a decision and I don't have a problem with that at all. Regardless of faith level, from inquirer to co-FM, other FMs should be looking to speak to every one if those if there's a desire on the part of the first.
Re: Being Faithed
Again, understandable if said character is still choosing their path. Mostly was thinking of a few instances where I heard Bob the fighter (Not to be confused with any living or dead Bobs) comment about how they haven't moved from inquirer and somehow its the FM's fault.

Re: Being Faithed
Any suggestions for those people who have requested to join a faith that doesn't have an FM or even many other players in the faith?
I think it's more difficult for the 'discreet' characters who don't want to openly shout from the rooftops that they are interested in joining a specific evil faith.
I believe a lot of reason why people may just apply after a specific amount of time is that they don't feel any sense of progression to speak of. After remaining stagnant for so long without a faith, it becomes stale. If the character is a 'priest' class, it gets increasingly more difficult to wait around as they cannot progress with any of their faith spells at all.

Re: Being Faithed
As the first bullet says in my original post: Get on the faith list. If it's not discreet but you can't find an NPC (Yondalla is the only one like this to my knowledge) set your title.
There is no discreet evil faith that lacks an npc to get on the faith list with. There is no discreet faith with an npc unreachable, or tough combatwise to reach.
The only exception with a need to apply off the top of my head is the following:

The only exception with a need to apply off the top of my head is the following:
* A gnome may be a priest of Gond.
* A halfling may be a priest of Tymora
* An elf may be a priest of Mielikki
* An elf may be a priest of Chauntea
* A member of a demi-human race may follow any human deity
Any combination other than those listed here should be applied for before
enquiring or applying to join a faith. Please make any applications here:

Re: Being Faithed
Just a small note:
Lately it seems people are forgetting something very, very important.
Being faithed is not a right, but a priviledge.
You need to work for it, your character needs to be respectful, available and at least have a basic knowledge and behave the part. Putting yourself on a list isn't enough. Use the dogma in your every day rp. If you do not take the time for any of those things, a faith manager or the faiths admin are not obligated to faith you.
So read up! Ask more! Be available in cities! Be respectful to people of the same faith! Enjoy the process!
Just be humble, and remember: there's no ruling that everyone who comes along for a faith has to be let in.

Re: Being Faithed
Let me just give this a little bump for our influx of new players, and returned old players. :)
I'd like to also note three things:
-While praying is acceptable, this is thing immortals see for different types of roleplay purposes. Faith managers have no access to these prayers. So if you are trying for a mortal managed faith one prayer is appreciated for the roleplay value of it, but please do not send up multiple.
-Contacting a faith manager OOCly is acceptable AFTER SOME TIME if you find your timezones are not adding up. But there is no need to create your character and immediately be looking for them via OOC means.
Both of those things are acceptable in certain circumstances but not expected or suggested.
-If it is me questing you (Any faith without a mortal faith manager) please note I will not roll an NPC of your faith into an inappropriate area to quest you. Take a break from code quests and leveling at times to chill out and relax and roleplay in appropriate places. (Ex: Most good faiths I will have an npc come in or around the Market, all of their temples. Corellon I will come to any forest, the shrine in Ardeep, temple in Silverymoon. Yondalla's Copse for Yondalla, Mount WD for Moradin. Most evils I will come to Zhentil Keep or Westgate, in any temple or shrine. Things like so.)
