[MECHANICS] Soar/Gallop
[MECHANICS] Soar/Gallop
I propose that winged races be able to use the soar speed and - if not already implemented - four-legged races be able to use the gallop speed.
Re: [MECHANICS] Soar/Gallop
Not every creature can move at soar speed. Soar represents the fastest possible speed available to aerial races. Additionally, not all races can maneuver properly even if they can achieve such speeds.
As for Gallop, that's already in.

Re: [MECHANICS] Soar/Gallop
Speaking as a mage that polymorphs into various races...
Gallop is already in for many 4-leggers. Feel free to mention any that don't have it.
Soar/Fly are standard flying speeds for many winged critters, even humanoid types. But again, see any that you think should, but don't... mention them.
(Sorry, cannot mention my test forms.)

You do not need to change the world, merely leave it a little better than how you found it.

Re: [MECHANICS] Soar/Gallop
Exactly. The four-legged can move at the fastest land speed - gallop - but the winged can't soar? Doesn't seem consistent to me.
Naturally, anything that flies should be able to move faster than something traveling by land. Currently in FK, fly is the equivalent of gallop, so basically four-legged PC races can move just as fast as an avian PC.
EDIT: In this case I am referring to aasimar/tieflings. I also wanted to note that if you are an aasimar or a tiefling with the wings feat, you can still fly as an ability even when you are polymorphed into a race without wings.

Soar is a lot faster than fly.. Not many races can achieve this speed. It all comes back to D&D mechanics.Necalli wrote:Exactly. The four-legged can move at the fastest land speed - gallop - but the winged can't soar? Doesn't seem consistent to me.

Re: [MECHANICS] Soar/Gallop
Two of my favored polymorph forms do use soar as a standard speed, so it is there. As for assamir/teiflings getting it... Their wings are not built for speed, at least that is what I get from sources. Flying makes sense, but the difference between flying and soar, speed wise, is quite a gap and I don't see tiefling wings match the speed of say.... a griffon.
