Area Revamps

Post by Mask » Sat Apr 02, 2011 9:50 am

A number of people have recently pointed that they would like to see particular areas given a bit of a refresh - I think this is a great idea, and a very easy project to make happen. Could people post in this thread which areas they think are most in need of some spring cleaning and then we can find small teams who will take the work on (probably using OLC on the test port).

Cheers!

Mithral Halls Newbie Area
Settlestone
Arken's Invocarium

Some tweaks to make them receive more traffic:
Minor Settlements
Villages of the Kingdoms

These are the only ones I can think of. Unfortunately it's not easy to know, as a player, what area you're in all the time. There might be others I'm missing but these come to mind.

Eltsac and I would like to revamp Mithrall Halls as a whole, from the entrance to the bottom.

It's whole concept can be a bit refreshed.
Adding Quest/combat areas for higher levels and areas near the Underdark, focused on it

Cool - can Brar, Eltsac, Selveem and maybe Gilain form a team to take that body of work on? Can one of you start a thread in 'Area Building Discussion' with a list of the things you'd like to achieve with the project - ie, what you think MH is missing, what it needs etc.

I think it makes sense to think of MH as one of our adventurer's guilds, and you should bear that in mind when discussing changes to make to it - I propose that we make the 'Hammers of Moradin' the MH Adventurer's guild, so the MH revamp should include a kind of 'head quarters' for the hammers and we can start getting the adventurer notification system in place.

I was thinking a cool thing to do might be to provide 'alt-aware' notification system such that if you have a high level dwarf from MH and someone enquires about an adventure in MH you might get a notification suggesting that you log your alt...

You have the exact train of thought as me. I didn't know it would be possible without a lot of work. If you can do it, that would be really, really helpful for people like me who have lots of alts. :P

For those of you working on the Hammers of Moradin and MH I think you can find some info on that in the FR Campaign Setting

I have already included the Hammers of Moradin in my Temple of Moradin. Will that suffice?

Unfortunatly not, we're speaking here about the whole guild system as discussed in viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13985

Which means a whole new level of support and codes, not a shopping area.
It is support from low to max level considering adventuring and will be focused on adventuring roleplay rather than "melrose place" roleplay (I'm sorry if it hurts anybodys feeling, that's how I calls it since I began mudding and can't find of any other wording...)

The Hammers will serve as the dwarf "guild", focused on MH and dwarves in general as every dwarf reveres Moradin even if actually following someone else.
It would not be faith dependant and every dwarves should be given the opportunity to join.

But every "in-building" area related to MH should be taken into account to have a better views of the global pictures.

There will be bigger headquarters for the Hammers.

Anyway, there can be smaller areas (a few rooms, whatever is inside) restricted to the members of the Hammers of Moradin adventuring guild in different places.
Temples of Moradin are good places for those.
