At its core, this is a good idea.
Some of the ideas which came after the original post seem like unnecessary complications of the idea, and I cannot ever agree that any part of this game should not be fun. Fun is captivating, and also the reason that people (as a whole) play games in the first place. Can anybody here honestly say they were attracted to FK because they thought it wouldn't be fun? I doubt it.
So, these are the parts I like. Haunting; solid idea, it will enhance the experience of the game and depending on how it is implemented, could even replace the tell-while-you're-dead feature. Limited to floating, says, and smotes; sort of good. Greeting should also be an option. Turning and being 'killed' sends you back to the Realm of the Dead; good.
I'm ambivalent on the whole visible/invisible thing... but if it's there, then I would like to see that manifestation option implemented alongside the haunting option.
If this is implemented, I would like to see a necromancy spell added to the game which would allow priests and wizards to extend the length of time that a ghost may remain haunting.

I'd like to brainstorm for ideas on how to make the experience of
'death' more interesting....
Some ideas include:
1. Allowing ghosts to manifest themselves from in the 'real world'.
2. Making the ghosts hover linger around the body briefly before they
get sucked away to the realms of the dead.
Any other ideas ? Hopefully we can make the experience of dying less
of a pain and more of an RP oppurtunity .
