Misused Bardic Music

Post by Hollenlark » Sun Apr 17, 2011 4:41 am

This is similar to the thread about [http://www.forgottenkingdoms.org//board ... 48&t=10310]missed turning attempts[/url], but I will make a new thread since that one is so old.

If bards are not careful, they can use up their daily bardic musics by simply mistyping the name of the song they wish to sing (or by leaving the argument blank). It seems to be very similar to the problem with turning attempts.
>abilities
-----------------------------[Abilities]---------------------------------
sing 6/6
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
>sing batman theme
You do not yet know of this song.
>abilities
-----------------------------[Abilities]---------------------------------
sing 5/6
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This can be a problem since two of the bard songs must be typed with grammatical errors, making it difficult to use them correctly from memory, especially during the pressure of a battle. Not to mention it is frustrating to lose an IC ability from an OOC typo.

The clerical issue was deemed to not be a bug and was considered as a suggestion. Can I please add this suggestion to it?

Mask has already put his shoulder into addressing this, by making code changes to INVOKE. In time, all special abilities should be patched up to not have this happen. See
http://www.forgottenkingdoms.org//board ... 51&t=14225
for details.

However, what songs require intentional typos?

To avoid the problem until INVOKE is retrofit to everything, I suggest you set up ALIASes to sing your songs - I understand what you mean about the frustration of burning them up for nothing!

p.s. I like your example! :D
