New to FK but well done.

Post by Tabun » Tue Jun 28, 2011 5:30 pm

I'm still fairly new to FK but let me say it has been outstanding thus far. I've been MUDing for about 13 years and have played literally dozens of MUDs. The RP experience you all have created is exceptional; I look forward to continued play and experiencing more of it.

A couple feedback points from my experience thus far:

-FK is hard. Even harder because my character is a loner wizard. Obviously one of the most difficult paths but I'm not here to play an easy MUD. Anyone new to MUDS is going to have a hard time with FK however. Additional support on the website including updated maps and a newbie guide would seriously help. I understand this is an RP MUD and you should figure things out IC, but new players need some OC help to get rolling especially if there is no one around IC to seek help from.

-The ASK command is excellent and all of the players that assisted in answering my questions were extremely helpful. Keep it up.

-The RP is what sold me on this MUD. Despite being somewhat of a loner the IC interactions I've had have been outstanding. Most notably interactions with divine and the admin. Having an NPC suddenly come to life and begin speaking and giving my new character advice was remarkable and not something often encountered in other games. A testament to the Gods/Admin in providing a true RP experience. Hey they might even like playing their own game!?--what a concept.

Anyway I thought I would introduce myself and give you a few insights from a new player. Well done on creating a fun and solid game. I look forward to playing and meeting you all IC -- or maybe not.

I am glad that you're enjoying the game. Welcome aboard!

We were already discussing a newbie guide, but that's two of you new folks to ask for one. Expect this sooner or later.

It's a pleasure to have you joining us, Tabun! We appreciate all feedback, positive and negative (but of course we want to give folks as many reasons as possible to provide the former)!

To the extent specific thoughts come to mind as you get your feet wet (things it would have been helpful to be warned about, given access to, highlighted as available, etc.), please don't be shy about sharing them. They not only help everyone think about issues, but provide precious material to work from when trying to address them, say when preparing a newbie guide!

A quick warning that Immteraction will probably drop off once you are no longer brand new - the top brass is stretched quite thin and while they appreciate that it is indeed hard to get started on FK, and they want to help you along, they will turn much of their focus on newer players as you mature. Hopefully by then you'll have IC allies to help you out, though, loner or not!

Thanks again for the feedback!

Just thought I'd say awesome to have you aboard Tabun...I like reading new player posts, it allows me remember when I was new and starting out. It can get crazy! I remember I died in my first adventure! It was really disappointing. Everyone here is really nice and helps out though!
