I just thought of a random idea, while muttering that I can't access FK from work.
Could a random dungeon generator (RDG) be coded? I don't see full "maps" being easily-codable (meaning that it random designs a castle with floors, layouts, bosses, etc.), but something could be done like this:
- A group approaches the point where the RDG starts (I'd recommend a minimum amount of players needed to start it. 3?)
- When everyone is ready, the group leader (GL) enters in the keyword to activate the RDG (an OOC command, essentially). The more members, the harder the dungeon and the better the loot.
- The group is teleported to a room to begin the dungeon. There are no exits; the GL types in commands to move (advance, retreat)
- When 'advance' is entered, the group moves on to the next room (this dungeon is linear). There is a dice roll to see what mobs are created, with DC checks to see who gets the initiative (makes feats like improved initiative better, maybe a skill or other feat could further bolster this).
- When 'retreat' is entered, the group moves to the previous room. Same rules as above apply, but with a lesser chance of encountering mobs. However, ambushes are still possible. (Again, skills and feats could be introduced to make this more or less effective)
- This continues until the dungeon 'ends' (some variable that will trigger final room, with a 'boss' and subsequent treasure loot). Upon killing the boss, the GL can enter 'exit' to leave the dungeon altogether
Restraints:
1) A minimum number of players should be required
2) Can only be repeated so often (once a day/week?)
3) Quit command does not work mid-dungeon
4) Limited descriptions
Possibilities:
1) Allows for unique adventures, encourages groups
2) Allows for skills and feats to be used to make being an adventurer a bonus
3) Could be incorporated into future quests
4) Could be designed and placed around the world to reach all levels and alignments

Re: Random Dungeon Generator (RDG)
I've played a few games that have this kind of thing (crossfire for example), and they suck - in a game like FK, it would be far too 'OOC'. I'd rather see more interesting areas created or existing areas updated for adventuring - there is an initiative afoot to re-purpose a bunch of old planar areas of Dalvyn's from being inaccessible 'quest' areas to being general purpose adventuring areas, but those involved have not yet made a huge amount of progress in the area, unfortunately.
