Combat Carnival

I recently noticed that the combat carnival has changed so popped in for a visit.

I have fought in the arean 3 times and been victorious. A couple of questions:-

1) do you receive no payment for winning other than looting the corpses? I havent received any if you are supposed to.
2) QLOG states, do you want to fit in the pit. I have fought 3 times and it still states this.

Is this all be design or is something stuck?

Yes, that is correct. The offer is always extended to you (it will only change when you pay for a match) and, yes again, your only payment is that which you win from others in the arena. It's a pretty tight business model.
