Change to the skill Stun
Change to the skill Stun
I was wondering if Spears could be added to the weapons that you can stun with. I believe they are light enough that one could swing them around and hit with the blunt side like a quaterstaff.
Re: Change to the skill Stun
Well, likely so, but most spears would be too light - they'd do little damage, and likely break.

No, there is not really a good real-world reason why this could not be true. A spear shaft is sturdy enough to knock someone senseless; it is usually a shaft of thick ash or hickory, much the same as a quarterstaff might be, and it must be sturdy enough to survive the impact of a thrust -even one on horseback- which is at least as traumatic as braining someone.
I disagree with this because you could really stun someone with almost any weapon. The pommel of a sword, the flat of a blade, the butt of a spear, the flat of a halberd, etc. etc. etc. Stun is relegated to blunt weapons in order to be most useful to its customer class (priest) and because, in my opinion, the skill requisite to execute this maneuver with any of the above possibilities is probably beyond that class's ability. It therefore becomes a tactical decision for the mighty orc priest with a spear.

Re: Change to the skill Stun
For the record, stun skill sucks on FK. It rarely hits and isn't that disruptive. More than anything, it's a burden to the Cleric attempting it (the lag from using it sucks).
I have no issue with allowing it to apply to all weapons so long as the skill is in-game.
That said, I don't see a reason the skill is in a D&D 3.5 game.

it always seems to work well for me. i think its an interesting combat option.
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Either stun is re-evaluated if people can lay out better why it is good/bad or perhaps a feat of improved stun <weapon>? I would not mind having it as an option is it means spending a feat point.
