Can we open up this topic again? I'd really like to see this implemented.

What is even being suggested? That wounds heal over time? I thought they already did that... I know someone said something about bandages, I like bandages I think it would be cool if they were more applicable. Something like once you use them, the bandages are junked and a flag is added to you somewhere, perhaps to the short part of the description that details all of a characters injuries. It could say something like 'Bobs arm is bandaged' or something...

I still don't see what is wrong with the current system.

And as was posted previously, there is also a contingent that thinks in the *other* direction, and that there shouldn't be recovery at the rate there already is.

If your wounds still show after self-healing to full HP, just consider that one of the things clerics are for :)

Perhaps I didn't explain myself well enough, please allow me to explain:

In the current system if you take damage, there is a chance your 'bruise' will stay with current healing. Even after 10000000000000 hours, if you haven't received any healing. This leaves whatever body part more susceptible to 'being removed.'

This also happens with hunger. You forget to feed your character who is hungry before you log off? Boom. You take damage. The next tick, you regain your health but the 'wound' stays even after you eat.

My proposition would be to have that heal, gradually. Or, via use of bandages.

Please don't take this as being rude, but could you maybe just ask a priest to heal that bruising for you?

No offense taken, my response is that for some people this is not something that would generally be acceptable RP for some people. As stated previously, unless something's changed, Malarites actually _lose_ favor for being the recipients of healing spells.

Regardless, a bruise fades over time. This is not always true on the MUD.

Yeah, I read up on this thread the other day, and due to recent events I felt like the idea should be implemented for the reason stated above. My leg became mangled, and when it healed, it went to 'nasty wounds'. Since my character is the "Stick to the shadows, weird looking-scary guy" no one offered/wanted to heal me, and I couldn't ask for help because that is not part of my RP ( I was also coinless as well ). After a while of hopping, I ended up asking a Helmite for help after my leg was lopped off by a bandit.

I do not believe that these wounds should just heal over time. HOWEVER,
do not take this as a full-blown rejection of Selveem's post. I do not know
how hard it would be to code this, but if you could make bandages
remove the actual wound without healing hitpoints, I think that
would be a cool idea. It would show that you're still feeling the pain,
you're still hurt, but you're working on it, and the wound itself is getting
better - it would also give a technical, reasonable use to those bandages,
instead of just having them sit around. I think I'd like and probably use
this a lot.

Can we salves then, too? :) It would be nice to have a pot with salve of X usages which you could rub onto your bruises to make them go away faster.

Re: Hrosskell's post:

Okay, again, my fault. I was never suggesting that your wounds should heal faster. I was suggesting that the lingering 'wounds' after your hp is already at 100% eventually heal. Possibly through bandages. Apparently I do a horrible job of conveying exactly what I'm talking about?

I have been giving this some thought, Here is what I have come up with. Perhaps bruises heal with time and disappear as would a black eye or any sort of non-life threatening bruise. This would be where those salves could come in handy to remove said bruises. Next up from that should be some sort of small cut that with time will heal its self, becoming a bruise. My thoughts is this is like a modern day cut with a razor while shaving, nothing serious.

Up from that would be the serious injuries. Some sort of large laceration that will not heal with out help. These should continue to bleed untill healed or bandaged. Something like 5 to 10% health a tick. What would be cool would be if we could get wounds to have a percent chance to become infected and some non-magical healing skills.... but that is a long way from today.

Anyway this is just some wild work induced crazy talk.........

Selveem: I understood what your post was about. Considering the negative reaction, I proposed that perhaps these "lingering wounds" could be healed with bandages, instead of just "going away". It'd give a good use to bandages, and it'd solve your problem. Plus, it'd also be cool to see a dude all bandaged up.

LOL, Hrosskell...

Perhaps this could make those bandages useful. Currently, I don't think they even have a use. Perhaps, when used while at 100% hp, it can improve the state of one of those 'lingering wounds?'
I thought that's what I already posted?

I must've mis-read that. Either way, I was trying to bring light back onto that point.

Let the bandages cure wounds, but not HP. That's what Selveem, and the rest of us, are asking for.

Stating I still support this idea.
