Faith Skills...

As I bounce around alts tonight, a thought crossed my mind. Some faiths grant quests to faithful to learn special skills/abilities, or in certain instances grant skills/abilities instantly upon joining. These skills/abilities tend to be related to the faith in some way. Trade skills, shapechanging, haggle, ect, ect.
On that note, what are the odds of seeing the 'poison weapon' skill given to Talona's faithful, instantly or via quest? It makes sense RP-wise, easily connected to the faith, and would have very little impact on balance.
(On the off chance it is already avaliable, I appologize. Not the first time I missed the obvious.
)

in most cases the skills given based on faith tend to be priests, but there are a few exceptions in game. Now I think it would be neat to give each faith one or two skills based on there god ie languages, skills and or spells. Like Waukeen and barter or mask with thieves cant disguise etc.. Hmmm perhaps even stuff for gond a bonus to smithing skills same with moradin. Theres quite a few things that could be done. It'd be neat to see feats for each god to haha you got me throwing out idea's nysan! -pat-

The reason that priests can learn different skills is that the class for a priest changes when they join a faith. A priest of Talona becomes CLASS_TALONA (instead of CLASS_PRIEST) for example.
This would only therefore be feasible with priests of Talona or members of her church who could already learn the skill. I recommend that you volunteer to provide the quest if that's needed. Sounds like a good idea, but this would need Mask's okay.

This is a neat suggestion! My experience on the testport suggests that even non-guild/race skills can be granted to any PC; they just need to be provided directly (via a program or the like) rather than learned via the normal TRAIN route.
I think that in at least some cases (some of the examples above are great ones) this would make a lot of sense. Any Talonian should be capable of using a poison weapon, to my mind.

Thats what I was thinking. I assumed learning non-guild/race skills was not much different, code wise, than learning trade skills. They couldn't be TRAINed, however quest or imm earned would work. I honestly cannot remember, but I think thats how Gilain got one of his skills in the "other" catagory.
I know some faiths grant special quests to faith members already. I don't think it would be much of a leap to see a quest for a faith related skill added to the mix. Can't code to save my life, but I could write something up for Talona and poison weapon. This all depends on what the man behind the curtain thinks of all of this.

Nice idea. I was thinking of something like this a while ago, specifically that faith related skill enhancement might be a good idea.
For example, Lathanderite priests getting more powerful turn undead, (supposed to be anyway for sun domain) Talona's people getting resist poison feat for free, Mordain's people getting better smith skills...etc etc..
