Gift of Luck

There's an option to kneel in FK so I was thinking that maybe it would be a simple code to do a check when someone kneels. If they are faithed and are in the same room as an alter devoted to their god or goddess, or are in a temple of their deity, they might be affected with increased luck for a period of time. The higher a persons favor level, the longer the affect can last.

Here's an example:
loved = 30 minute bonus to luck (3 point)
cherished = 30 minute bonus to luck (3 point)
honored = 30 minute bonus to luck (3 point)
praised = 30 minute bonus to luck (2 point)
favored = 30 minute bonus to luck (2 point)
respected = 30 minute bonus to luck (2 point)
liked = 25 minute bonus to luck (2 point)
tolerated = 20 minute bonus to luck (1 point)
ignored = 15 minute bonus to luck (1 point)
shunned = 10 minute bonus to luck (1 point)
disliked = 5 minute bonus to luck (1 point)
dishonored = 60 second penalty to luck
disowned = 60 second severe penalty to luck
abandoned = 5 minute penalty to luck
despised = 5 minute severe penalty to luck
hated = 10 minute penalty to luck
damned = 10 minute severe penalty to luck

I don't really support anything that would give a further increased advantaged to faithed characters.
I think too much of the MUD already relies on being faithed; I'd rather not think of another thing.
What about gambling? Flipping coins? Surviving a battle you nearly died in? Receiving a kiss from a chick with high Charisma?

Although it makes sense and could be totally valid I have to agree with Selveem. The mud already relies on faithing, but then again faiths are an important role in Faerun. I just don't like more advantages for coded faithful followers. They have the upper hand too much as it is.

I agree with Selveem and Bella... especially since we already have the supplication thing that all non-faithed players do not. That is kind of our bonus for being faithed already... plus those with large temples have access to tons of other things as well, that are usually discounted, like armor or fine jewelry (peers at the lovites) lol But anyways... I just don't see why this is needed, I guess.

The Waterdeep Temple could maybe be set up as a temple for all Good and Neutral deities, and another could be build for evil deities. Oh well, though, just an idea.

Huh? Sorry Theleus I'm confused... what are you referring to with the temples?

I just meant that if a plan like this were implemented, then the Waterdeep Temple North of the City of the Dead could act as a Temple to all Good and Neutral Gods and that something similar might be made for all evil gods.

Not trying to shut you down here; I think it's an interesting idea, I just don't think it's needed.
And, honestly, luck is no longer even a visible part of the game for mortals. I'm not sure it even does anything (or has, for the past multiple years). I have a lot of characters and I trained luck all the way up to 18 on Selveem, but I noticed no differences on Selveem than other characters.
So even if you got a +10 to your Luck score, if it does nothing you're notice, why bother?

Many (not all, mind) shrines and altars in game are coded to give a one-time hit of favour to faithed individuals who kneel at them. It's entirely up to the builder's discretion whether or not they make it this way, as there is no way to flag an item or area as belonging to a specific faith - you have to tell it to only work on people of a relevant faith, and to immolate those of opposing ones

Speaking on behalf of my follower of an uncoded deity... Don't leave me out.

Sorry, yes - followers of uncoded deities can be immolated too!

Immolate by fire would be rather ironic for an Istishia follower...
