Knowledge - Trades

We currently have a knowledge system in the game for I think 6 fields. In 3.5 rules, they are supposed to grant +2 to a specific check when you reach a certain point with the skill. I'm not sure if the checks are implemented in-game, however. Also, I know that knowledge - trades does not exist in 3.5ed but since we have an expanded trade system, I figure this would make a good supplement.
Knowledge - trade would only be obtained through quests, much like knowledge - religion. The purpose behind this would be to encourage builders to build simple quests that ICly teach PCs about various aspects of trades. Examples could include learning about different metals and their properties, exotic weapons/armours, what type of wood works best for arrows, different kinds of leather, etc. Also, at GM, this could potentially add a +2 check to crafting checks.
Just a fun idea I'd thought I'd toss along.
