That other kind of brewing

Some are alchemists, some are potion masters, some are smiths, some are hunters, and some are even puppeteers. The more diverse the ways to make a living in game, the more interesting the interactions over it. I dont know the status of herbalism in game, but I would certainly love to see it expanded. To see full agrarianism, raising crops or gathering herbs, botany as one cultivates blooms, and what can branch out from this. Whether it is a sophisticated vintage of the elves, the toughest stout of the Dwarves, or good old fashioned Barbarian rotgut, I would love to see the other kind of brewing in game. We have cooking, which is complex and very creative, but the tavern master could do oh so much more than dispensing from the taps. That careful art and science of the home brew.

The brewing process is a careful mix of precision forge and off-screen smithing like interactions. The set up of the equipment in the right order, and careful mixing together of the ingredients requiring proper timing and conditions. Perhaps set up at a designated area like the local Vineyards, or Brewer's Guildhall. Then the batch is fermenting while you are offline, but while online you can check on the batch's status, and make minor adjustments at certain intervals to obtain that right level of sweetness or acidity, and other minute traits. Then you have to be sure to bottle it at the right time, neither to late or too early, in another careful process. And when your beloved batch is done, you have the option of selling it all over the Kingdoms. As you get more skilled, the endeavor becomes more profitable. And a true master perhaps has his own 'label' which functions like a trademark. Thus his work gains a certain signature infamy, and is perhaps then carried by name at various establishments across the realms.

And of course, also like cooking, there is also the art of the mixed drink. How does one make a 'side cart' or a 'black rashemi'?

I actually rather like this idea. It calls to mind a halfling brewery described in Kobold Quarterly (or maybe Dragon, I would have to dig around at home) as a potential area to teach such a trade. Racial or geographical teachers would be a cool addition to the game, particularly if those areas hosted other quests or training-type venues.

I think it can "easily" be implemented with area code similar to the cooking system and can easily add recipes if they are tied to an object, like alchemy and its board.

It was a project as MH extension back in 2002 that was abbandonned due to the the leaving of the guy behind the process (A shameless, stupid, stubborn, good for nothing called Brar...).
*refers the building admin to the applications he made with Eltsac a few months ago for details, hoping his lady did indeed put details in the application  *
