Opening to skullport

I wondered if we should not make skullport more opened to surfacer.

For now, skullport is an unfinished area, missing a lot of things for a hometown, forcing people starting there to head to the surface to find a guild or such.

Icly, skullport isn't such an unaccessible city. It is a port, and boat go there (at least pirate boats and authorized boats).

There is a boat from skullport to waterdeep (high cost for surfacer, low cost for skullport residents).
There could be a boat from waterdeed to skullport
- low cost for skullport residents (well it's just a way back on the same boat that brought them up ;))
- for surfacer, we have different possibilities : high price, a long quest to be able to take the boat, or making it so the boat is only accessible to surfacers who made a quest given in skullport (so the surfacer has to go there by another mean the first time, underdark or such, then if he makes a quest for the pirates down there, he will be able to take their boats afterwards)

There isn't real IC reasons to me not to open skullport. Plus :
- it would add more interaction between surfacer and drows and the like who get bored underground
- if skullport is opened to everyone, we could try to add more new builders areas / guilds in there to make the city more appealing and more complete, as those additions would be accessible to anyone in game, whatever the race / alignment and such, rather than adding everything on the surface only as surfacers are the more numerous (which I understand)

Just my idea

This was sorta discussed in the past:

It's a bit humorous when you go back and read some predictions, though. ;)

... It speaks about people going up from Skullport... Eltsac speaks (if I understand correctly) about ways to go down to Skullport.. That's quite the complete opposite to your post :p

I'm all to open up more less dangerous way to go down, but that should be access restricted for those who already went there once by more traditional means, and should be very costly.

"Sorta" means "sort of;" it is related (even if indirectly). Making access to and from Skullport easier/cheaper means the same as more UD interaction, no? Regardless, I don't care either way. I think as it's a part of the game it shouldn't be too horribly difficult to travel between, anyhow. I could easily see a wizard offering a 'gating service' (such as the one in Silverymoon does) for people.

Well, access from skullport is already in game (there is a boat, so safe easy access, just costly).

Just thought it could be two-ways travelling ;)

Two way travel via boat would be nice.

It should be more expensive to reenter Skullport, but I'd support a boat entry too.
