[ITEM] Magic Arrows - Minor Loot Suggestion

Not sure how hard it would be on the code end, but an idea for an addition to the minor loot tables would be magic arrows, bolts, etc. Either + something or with a magical affect like fire, cold, or acid.

This might be a good place to initially break the +1 limit, as the projectiles would break and thus eventually be consumed.

Fantastic idea. We would need to add variables for each type of arrow or bolt (short/long, heavy/light), but this would be a great bit of flavor for ranged combat.

I also think this is an excellent suggestion! I feel that ranged weapons are not nearly used to their full potential in FK - longbows and crossbows with magic arrows/bolts can be really nasty in the hands of a skilled user.

Not only could this pave the way to move past +1 limitations, but couldn't this also pave the way to seeing magical effects on weapons?

I would love to see a flame burst sword for my offensive build and a defending sword for my shield build. :)

Not sure how it works. Last I was told was that the whole ranged thing was kinda weird.

Yes, ranged weaponry is imperfect at the moment, but some things do work. If I put this in as an enhancement suggestion, the way the bug priority system works, it shouldn't be acted upon until after the ranged weapon bug is resolved, though...so if this is an idea people like, we don't need to wait to add it to the queue. Does it potentially make ranged weapons too powerful? Do all types of ammunition have a chance of breaking when fired, and am I correct in assuming there is no way to repair them (or, at least, that it would be cost-prohibitive for magic ammunition)?

I have yet to see one of my silver sling bullet (pc made by an inept weaponsmith..) break, I lost a few whil I forgot them, but had never one that took damage.

Peebles made from rocks however damages quickly, so does bow arrows and crossbows bolt.

Perhaps it is a material issue then, metal not damaging while stone and wood does

PC craft (WS/AS), in general is weird when it comes to damage, not just bullets. Honestly, I cannot think of a single piece of armor Gilain has crafted/sold that has been damaged outside of extreme situations. So, the bullets being immortal follows suit and not really connected to range weaponry oddities.

Gaymor's golden armor (crafted by Gilain, though the ingot may not have been of good quality) get damaged a lot in fights.
I sometimes have to remove some pieces between fights so they don't crumble to dust.

Only gold I have ever sold. All other sold armor was steel/titanium/mithril. So, maybe materials does have an impact after all.

Yes, materials do have an impact. You may not notice a difference in AC between iron and steel armor, for example, but the iron will be damaged more easily.

So gold break because gold is bad and titanium/mithril will last forever. Got ya!

Well a golden priest of the joker wearing titanium or mithril isn't fun :p

Maybe gold plated titanium :p
