I feel I need a bit of clearing up before I do something EXTREMELY stupid without knowing and get my little dwarf in more than a little trouble. From my understanding, the dwarves of MH are real social with each other; trading, sharing, giving, and so on. This is my understanding, if its right or not, not sure. This belief leads to my question. I understand the rules for stealing from a cart, person, or pet/mount in most cities, especially if the owner is in the room. I am curious about MH though. Is it fine and good to use this cart or grab that pick when there is no owner around (or even another dwarf on the who list). I do not want to cross the little line between sharing and stealing, so I am curious about where this lies in MH. All thoughts welcomed...

There are thieves in the dwarven society too. If you ever take from a cart, well, it might be considered stealing by some dwarves. If you get caught you're gonna get both hands chopped off *snickers*. Alright, here's what I think. If you're just going to view what's in the cart, it's alright. But if you're going to take from the cart, you better ask from the owner first... Dwarves are generally very friendly towards other dwarves. Still, there are exceptions...

Well... I am everything against stealing and my dwarf has his own ore cart, and I wouldnt mind if they asked, but there might me a couple metals that they would shmush you into the ground for taking. Such as...
mithril, maybe titanium, and perhaps gold, but DEFINATLEY mithril. If you take that from anyone, flee to an uncharted island, and pray that you arent caught

If I remember correctly in a thread elsewhere about stealing big objects like packs and other things, and about stealing from carts and such, that big objects like packs are PRETTY OBVIOUS and even though you can get away with it through code, you shouldn't DO it....that's code abuse in my opinion.. SPECIALLY when there are people standing nearby.. which would also tend to make it harder...that's why my dwarf always leaves his cart next to a dwarven construction person....and I mostly leave it empty.. well, you get my drift...

When Gradrax was young he asked before he took from the cart, They are pretty nice about it, Now he has his own cart and doesnt really mind if people take from his cart unless it is an excessive amount
