This is something I've been mulling over for a while, and since I've had time not actively playing the game, it sort of came back to the forefront and I thought I'd bring it up.
On many RP-centric games, albeit more typically MUSH and MUX style games, there is often a 'check' or 'roll' command, that allows you to test your skills. Mostly, these are RP tools, and I was thinking they could be used here as such.
For example, say a Bard wanted to perform for a crowd. He could, if he chose, just do so, through RP, and have the performance be as good or bad as he chooses. Imagine, however, that the Bard wanted to add a random element to their RP. They could type 'check sing #' where # = the DC of the check they want to make. The game would then roll a d20, add their skill level, plus stat mod (Charisma for example), and tell them either 'success' 'failure' or perhaps even 'critical failure' if they rolled a 1. Perhaps their voice cracks, or they break out in a fit of sneezing. Maybe an instrument string breaks, or perhaps just in the middle of their performance, a dog begins yowling in an alley, thus ruining the moment.
This could also be used as an RP tool for Story Council, during story events, to give characters a chance to test their knowledge (religion) or (region) skills.
pcheck would be the same as check, except that it would only display the results to self 'pcheck <skill/stat> #' or a specific target 'pcheck <skill/stat> # <target>'. That would help reduce the spam on things like a check against the singing skill which is for personal RP use.
Just a thought, and hardly a necessity, but something I thought would be an interesting item to enhance RP.
