A feat for fighting-types who don't want to use a shield but neither dual-wield or using two-handed weapons.

You are at your most dangerous when forced to protect yourself.

When fighting defensively (combatmode +defensive) , you deal an extra 1d6 points of damage with any light weapon or with any weapon to which the Weapon Finesse feat applies (such as a rapier, spiked chain, or whip). This feat's benefit applies only when you are unarmored or wearing light armor and not using a shield.

Is there a sourcebook equivalent for this feat? I don't really understand how fighting defensively could cause you to deal more damage.

Complete Scoundrel, p. 76

[General]

You are at your most dangerous when forced to protect yourself.

I think of it like being less offensive by focusing in defence (so you have your penalty to attack) but with the training related to this feat, you know how to await for openings in your enemies' defence to hit where it hurts more while relying in defence until you find that opening.

That makes sense. This would be a nice feat to see.

Ah, so it's fencing. Makes sense to have a one-handed fighting style.
