Hitched Horse stamina

Alright, I was using a Shaggy Mountain Pony to drag a large ebony cart with golden decorative symbols. I decided to walk the horse, hoping to use less stamina. He was at 32% about, and we walked 4 rooms, and he was down to 5%. When I mounted him, he only used 2% stamina to move around. So he used WAY less stamina to move about when mounted.
