Examining Items from Vendors

I was just at a vendor who had many items for sale.. most of them quest items sold to him by PC characters.. and I found it was hard to focus in on one item to see if it was something I wanted to buy.

All of the key words were attached to other items on the list, so if I tried to examine a specific item I was always looking at another and never sure if I was looking at the item I wanted to purchase.

My suggestion is to make it so you can examine an item based on the number it is in the list. I know already you can purchase items based on that number.

If this is possible it would be a great way to examine items safely before making a big purchase.

Thanks!

Its actually already supposed to be like this, it's a long standing bug.

Many of the items can be examined by using multiple keywords in quotes with the exam command. Almost no items are identical in all keywords when it comes to the newer randomly generated magic items.

exam 'purple long sword griffon' merchantname

And then to test if you have the right item put all your coins away and try to buy with the same keywords.

buy 'purple long sword griffon'

It will say you do not have enough coins to purchase suchandsuch item. If that matches you are examining the right item.

Not an ideal solution to the problem but one that makes dealing with large lists of inventory at least somewhat manageable though tedious it will work until the staff has time or the inclination to address the problem in some way.

Ah the 'item info' worked very well. Thank you for the suggestion.. still be nice to be able to examine them via numbers though!
