Meditation in some places

I have no spell casters but I have read past files and posts on meditation. I know that it requires complete concentration and focus so I wonder when I see those meditating directly after battle or in the midst of battle when the enemy is temporarily stunned and though the foe was incompacitated it still had the capability to return to the fray. Could a spell caster hold their wits long enough to pull together the skill in meditation to garner the needed manna before the fighting started again? I don't think it is possible to focus when an enemy, though conked out for the time being is right next to them, no matter how well armed the company travelling with the magicuser is. Of course, there are eceptions, where one has some how found a way to fearlessly focus while an terribly close threat soon in coming might return at any moment. the main problem with this is that upoin returning the meditator would be defensless save if he or she is not alone.
I will think that the caster should go into another room to meditate durning such a median of time if it is neccessary or switch to another form of fighting or even sit down and rp hiding at the far corner of the room.
Mediatating in front of a foe though when he is stunned does not seem right to me.

Might just be me, but I have NEVER been able to meditate in a room where a fight is progressing, even one I am not involved in (stunned enemy or one smacking at my head). Thought that was a mud-wide deal. Sort of surprised to see something like this come up...
Though I do agree, it is not a good thing to do.

I dont beleive he means while fighting, I think he means while a creature is stunned and still in the same room.

Maybe code something similar to trying to quit after battle - your adrenaline is pumping too hard to meditate!

Bad idea honestly. What if you flee from a fight and are in an empty room, without being hunted? That would give you a timer until you could regain enough mana to cast any spells - and if a wizard has fled from a fight that's pretty much giving them a death sentence.
Meditating next to a stunned opponent is wrong, as is meditating in the same room as fighting, but a suspension of belief must be made in some instances - for example a location full of dragons, if you are fighting them, and there are empty rooms inbetween each one, you wouldn't realistically be able to perform meditation techniques unhindered, yet to stop that possibility on the mud would not work.
Meditating in the same room as fighting or people liable to thump you in the head with a large stick - wrong. MEdiating infront of a mob you're about to kill - wrong. Just enforce that without a timer and there won't be a problem

Having used meditation now and then I think it is best to trust in it when you have the time to and rely on other means when you cannot, be it with lag or without. In certain book series worlds like dragonlance there is a rule of mages that decrees that spellcasters aligned with the mages guilds and orders must only arm themselves with a dagger to fend off attacks when their spells are done. This means that they must fight off attacks with a dagger alone once they are without spells, though it means certain death, it is their sacrifice for the great power of the art of magic. It could mean certain death but in some cases a wizard's trust in the weave or the power of magic or even a clerists trust in faith spells cannot be measured by a need to replenish them in battle. Instead you need to do what you can and if you do not have a safe haven or the patience to withstand lag then you must go into battle with what weapons you have and hop that it is enough. If it is not there is no worry, it's only a game, not real and in the true sense of reality meets fantasy it happened. Though a lack of lag would make it much easier, or more options to meditate in dangerous places, roleplay should always come first. It could be my mentality as a patient person or my warrior's sense:D, but I think those that can calmly sit in a place not secreted or hidden and meditate in an enemy's lovely sitting room before the plunge are either made of stone or insane. Fear is ever present in battle as is bravado, its a little demon that sits on your shoulder singing patriotic showtunes in your ear as you attempt to focus. I think in all honesty that a feat to allieviate the lag on mediatate could exist but not as a crutch to bad meditation. Mayhaps the best course would be to log meditate and catalogue the room surrounding the pc and the mobs in the rooms around them to see if they are meditating in a secret well guarded place or a troll's sewing room.
