Climbing to one's death

Ok, this post will have a few suggestions, and I understand that one would require a lot of admin work.... but I must make it.
1. Climb damage - It seems a bit high. I'm not sure how the damage is determined, but I wouldn't think that at my level based on the amount of damage I take when I fall.... that it would straight up kill a lower level character... so I'm thinking it is percentage based perhaps? Could we look to adjusting this to be more in line with how DnD has handled fall damage... it being an amount of damage based on the distance one falls?
2. Climb information - Now, I can understand that going UP or DOWN can turn into a climb, but I've come across areas where going N, S, E, & W. Also, tying into #1, it would be a good thing that we would be able to know what we're getting ourselves into.... is that a 10 foot climb, or is that a 100 foot climb? Is it difficult or easy?
It would be nice that when we LOOK in a direction, part of the information we would get is whether going in that direction constitutes a climb... and how difficult a climb, and direction of climb.

You see a difficult climb up 10 feet. <--- Hard, but not dangerous
You see a very difficult climb up 100 feet. <--- Good luck with that!
You see an easy climb down 10 feet. <--- Ok, not to bad, and if I fail the check, I'll still end up down there.
We can use the difficulty ratings used in actual climbing
Easy
Moderate
Difficult
Hard Difficult
Very Difficult
Hard Very Difficult
Mild Severe

Mild Very Severe

Hard Very Severe
Extremely Severe
The help file on Climb could be updated to provide a sense of what skill level in climbing would allow a reasonable chance (75%) to make the climb. The higher levels would of course require the use of the climbing gear that exists in the game.
I'm not well versed in the coding of the game, so I'm not even sure if part of this already exists.
Overall, it just seems that the climb system allows for blind climbs to be taken
