Casual Events

I would like to suggest, or request a new master-thread in the events section of the forums for casual events. These would be things a little less "official", and in many cases possibly OOC. Examples below:

Friends of Bob the Builder: Looking to have an armor-smithing party at jonathan's this Wednesday @ 4:30pm ET.

Evils: A couple of us FM's are getting together to cause trouble on Monday at around 5pm.

We could use the existing thread, but I think that thread holds a sort of...assumed official quality that this new one would not.

I like it. In essence this is a way of making yourself available for certain activity during a specific period.

Exactly. I noticed that I often see people browsing the forums, while not logged in when there SEEMS to be little going on. This is a great way to get the attention of those people who don't want to idle, but aren't sure what to do. A quick "Hey, tomorrow at this time", or even a "In an hour or two"...

And I don't want to clog up the main events run with a bunch of these, myself. I can't tell you how many times, though I've wanted to set up some small expeditions, but cannot commit a week+ down the road. But I know I'm free tomorrow, ya know?

I think there was an idea to have a time chart displayed on the main page which would show events in a single timezone (forgot which one). If we could get it (*poke Mask*), with the ability to edit, it'd be great.

As it stands now, there are not very many players and the fact that they are spread across timezones makes finding people difficult.

More formal events with a concrete time I add to the Calendar linked in the top menu on the site. That displays the content of a Google Calendar, which anyone can request access to edit; just drop me a PM with the email account (ideally Gmail if you have one) that you want to have edit power with.

I'm fine with people adding things to it at the last minute, but I don't think that will make good advertising. I think the Casual Events posting is a great idea and will set up a sticky post along those lines right now. Thanks for the suggestion!
