Gods speaking to someone

Post by Tami » Fri Jun 27, 2014 3:37 pm

In general if a God just out of the blue speaks to you, even if it one line from their dogma.... is it usually a good thing? For more info, Tyr spoke to Duraiz and this is what happened (sadly no log but...) The sound of a gong was heard follow by a chorus of male voices. After that a voice came from outside to the inside of the tunnel " Reveal the truth, right the wrong, punish the guilty and be always true and just in your actions"
~Duraiz of Tyr
~Malupo of Loviatar
~Drazad of Oghma
~Hilmeran of Tymora
~Naren of Tymora

The Powers usually speak when they want to guide a mortal servant. Torm has helped and chastised Harroghty both over the years, but I believe that I value the chastisement more.

Then there was the time that Sune turned him into a woman...

It only gets strange when they tell you to start building baseball fields...
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Spelling is not necessarily correct :)

Only one of my characters (Siria) had gods speak to her, but she (and I) generally consider it a blessing.
As Harroghty said, see it as a form of guidance. Make the most of it! Include it in your rp! Have your character think about what was said and act accordingly (unless they want you to build baseball fields of course ;)).
Maybe years later your character will speak to young ones about Tyr's dogma saying: "That one day when Tyr spoke to me, I changed my life and became a better person."
