Ranger helpfile and class clarifications

Post by hasryn » Thu Jul 10, 2014 10:23 pm

The helpfile below states only evil rangers have to be apped for. Does this entail that neutral rangers can go the coded route now or are they in the same boat as evil aligned rangers? Also I was curious are halfling rangers applicable like the one I saw in game or are they not happening anymore. I noticed on the halfling available class file it says they can't even get that so I was just trying to draw a clearer picture for myself and other players! Thanks!

I moved this post from Bug Reporting.

I have recently updated all of the warrior help files (warriors, fighters, rangers, and paladins) to show more detail and include more depth in their linked help files. What I did not do in some of these cases (rangers and fighters) was specifically break down each school's coded requirements (as I did recently with bards), but all of these classes are in the same situation right now: they need new schools to support diverse role-play. We need an evil rangers guild (which Kinni is working on), we need some more bard schools, and etc. etc.

To clarify, the requirements shown in help rangers are the absolute requirements.
  • If your PC falls outside of those and you want to apply then that's fine, but you will more than likely be told no. We will discuss each application though.
  • If your PC falls within those requirements (which do not include alignment), but there is not currently a guild area which supports your PC becoming a ranger, then please apply.
To clarify for help fighter's guilds:
  • Realize that schools are not just faceless training institutions but have an in IC reputation. You may not therefore be able to join all of them. Joining one may preclude you from joining a certain other or others.
Still no barbarians and no real plans to add them right now as a unique guild (such as fighters, rangers, or paladins). I would entertain a plan to make a fighter's guild which trained barbarian-style fighters.
