Favor spells

Post by Jerigo » Sun Apr 04, 2004 5:08 pm

I recently tried casting a spell and got a message back saying that I didn't have enough favor to cast it. It was a powerful spell, so that makes sense. But I was wondering, is the spell then like supplicating? One use and your favor drops? Or is it just used as some sort of check to make sure that it's ok to cast it and then it isn't lowered?

Some spells have a minimum favour requirement, but casting one of those does not decrease your favour (as far as I know).

There are only 2 ways for your favour to be decreased:
- by supplicating (an object, resurrection, or something else)
- by being punished/"damned" by your god (IC)

Some faiths lose favor for certain actions by the character as well, though not as much as IC punishment by deity (never really considered supplicating a loss, more like a trade for something). For example, some evil faiths lose favor for healing others. Other faiths lose favor for fleeing a fight or killing certain creatures/races.

Right. I forgot that part.

- (3) losing favour automatically, as in digging up a corpse / sacrificing a corpse (for a good deity) for example.
