Major Image and Gnomes

Post by Dranso » Tue Nov 18, 2014 5:41 am

I would like to suggest the spell Major Image be added to the gnome domain. It would have to replace tongues, charm monster or stone walk. I think this would be a great addition that would greatly enhance gnome role play. Any thoughts, pro or con, are appreciated.

I am not sure I see the logic in this beyond 'It would be a fun tool for gnomes' - this can be said of any race. The gnome domain is specifically about gnomes, not the deities it belongs to. While I can see how it would be enjoyable and logical for Garl specifically, I do not see that for something relating to gnomes specifically. Stone walk makes sense - gnomes are connected to rocks/gems/earth. Charm monster even has a sensible reasoning in that a small creature could charm a monster into keeping them safe. Being able to magically make and mould an image into anything they please is something I'm missing the distinct connection to gnome with.

Major image itself, if it were to belong to any domain would fit into the illusion domain most likely - since it is an illusion spell. But seeing that gnomes have an affinity for illusion, and gnome illusionist could certainly use major image.
Beshaba potatoes.

Ah, definitely makes sense. I was looking at the domain as spells that were useful to gnomes and not being directly connected to them as a race. I guess I could say we could try and add it to the trickery domain. Then again it's still hard to make to it apply to that and that domain is already pretty powerful as it is. Oh well, just a thought that was rolling around in my head. Guess those non-wizard gnomes will have to stick to their fun golden mirrors ;) Thanks!
