There's a certain port on an eastern bay where lonely sailors pass the time away ... and the room is just BUSTLING with flavor. The mobs in the room talk to each other and do things.
As far as immersion goes, it's one of my favorite taverns to sit in anywhere.
I propose that we spice up the taverns across Toril. Maybe not every one because there's a LOT, but at least hit the big ones? One in every major city?
I'll write the actions and dialogues if someone else can do the scripting.

Re: Tavern Improvement
I'd be willing to assist, if such a project were approved. I'm all for immersion.
Re: Tavern Improvement
If it's approved and you want to do the whole thing it's fine by me. I've got plenty on my plate right now. Or if you want to collaborate it's good. I just think it would add a lot to the game.Xryon wrote:I'd be willing to assist, if such a project were approved. I'm all for immersion.
Re: Tavern Improvement
Collaboration would be preferred. I much prefer handling progs over descriptions/dialogue, and am also busier than I'd like (and already spending far more time on building projects than I should be!) And I agree that it could go a long way with adding to the environment of the game.
Re: Tavern Improvement
I think all builders have a lot on their plates. Almost every Waterdeep tavern/inn has been given a tremendous amount of flare, which really livens up the place due to some wonderful hard work, done by our builders. (A beautiful update from the mundane they had been before.) Other cities could ofcourse use it too, however it may not be on the top list of things to complete.
If you are interested in going through with the idea, I believe the best and first route would be to send in an application, to see if something like this would be approved and where you can indicate if you'd prefer to just be a soft-coder. Example Building Application The admins can then, help you along further.

Yes, Nearraba has the right of it.
To clarify my perspective as a builder administrator: Ed Greenwood has gone to great pains to detail most of the taverns in the Realms. The Volo's Guides detail the proprietors, character, meals, prices, intrigue, etc. I like the idea of people submitting plans for the update of a tavern or inn, but I chafe at the idea of breaking out of the setting when it's so carefully provided. In short, that's a cool idea, but if someone acts upon it then I would ask that they do so within the confines of existing lore (which is not so narrow prescribed as to be stifling).

I feel like I know Faerun as well as the next guy, but certainly not down to the detail of what the price of stew is in the back quarter taverns of Waterdeep.
Yeah, this project will have to go for someone else, if it ever gets done. That research sounds daunting.

Not much research you need to do. Google and wiki did it for you

I trained up double-edged bananas because the uber-plantain of doom I scored from the beehive quest was the best weapon in the game. Now it's being treated like a bug and they have gimped its damage! That's not fair! My character is ruined!
