Is it possible to have weapon loops and shield / bow slings / straps show what they contain? Since we should be able to see a hammer slung at a hip through a loop.

Scabbards are closed off for the most part so not so bothered about those

This bothered me for a while too. I once gave a friend a halberd, tied up in a harness. He though I was just gifting him a nice weapon harness.
I think loops and harnesses could just be invisible with a weapon in them. Let's say I have an "emerald encrusted heavy mace." Inside a loop, people will only see an "emerald encrusted heavy mace" hanging from my belt. If I draw the weapon, the loop becomes visible again. With a loop removed from the belt, but the weapon still in the loop, it would add a suffix "attached to a loop" like this: "an emerald encrusted heavy mace attached to a loop."
