Improvised weapons

Post by Terageld » Tue Jul 07, 2015 5:09 pm

One of Althasizor's posts reminded me of this question I had a long time ago. Should improvised weapon be coded into the game? I feel like we should have at least a few of the classics: jagged rock, wood plank with a nail through it, glass bottle (plastic bottle for nonlethal combat), gauntleted fist, stick, brick (including ingots), shoe, shovel...

At least a couple of those listed I've seen in game. Not sure it'd really be worth coding a bunch of stuff like that unless you were to just rename weapons already available.

By improvised weapons, I mean weapons to use on the fly. In a barfight, you'd probably make your first move with the bottle in front of you. And when you go to bury a corpse and run into a wandering zombie, you'd probably just use the shovel rather draw a sword. These things should be the fallback weapons to use when you have no other choice.
