IM Ran world events

Could IM ran world events be held at roughly the same time during the week? I only ask because often. One of my characters will be involved in part of an event but then not in its conclusion. Or vice versa.
I understand IMs don't walk into a closet and shut down when I'm not logged in but it would be nice to have a fair chance of being involved in something, start to finish. I'm asking only for World changing events, or events that shift the landscape of the game to be held on the same day each week, or each couple of weeks, as IMs have the time and around the same hours ish.
I'd go so far as to suggest that a world event thread be thrown up in the Events section and a post added a few hours before something's going to happen, or however far or soon in advance the runners feel is appropriate.

And maybe a quick summary of what went down. Just enough to get the idea so that more questions can be asked IC about the details of the event.

I understand the want to be involved from start to finish, but personally enjoy that events are held at (mostly to us) random times. Usually the world changing events come in parts and ICly die down as the IMM finds place to pause until picking it up again. It makes sense a different group might be involved in the next occurance.
In addition, not everyone has a set schedule & such allows different players to be involved, so that it is not the same group running the event each time.
The summary idea could be neat. Something small written in a herald point of view.

As someone who lives in a different timezone to most of the FK population, I totally disagree that they should be held at the same time every time. World changing events are for everyone to be involved in even if only in a minor capacity, so changing the time around allows different people to have a chance of influencing something.
Usually if it's a pre-organized imm-run event (e.g. deck of fate), the times are organized so that the groups or teams can arrange things around schedule but those are not always the type of thing that will impact the wider FK world for other players. (There are some historical exceptions to this).
I love the summary idea and this is something that used to happen more. There are some older postings under "World" that show this, so if anyone ever wants to write up a short summary of something that has happened, that would be a good place to put it. They can be written in character.
Alternatively, it's fairly common for posts to be put up IC on the notice boards to explain events or give a summary, nothing to stop people from doing that in game.

A fair point. Though I'll note that after moving to the states I've been involved in more world ran events than I ever was living in europe.
Generally speaking, my experience is that most of these things tend to happen, anywhere around 8 pm EST to about 2 AM EST and that there's no reason why times couldn't be shifted around if the IMs feel different people should be involved. At different portions of a story. Apart from a couple of characters that seem to recurringly be involved in 80% of the events, it just seems to be who's around.... which is ok I suppose but not great, in my opinion anyway.
I tried to be a little bit more general than specific times in my original post for this reason as well. Though with the understanding that all of this is limited to the IMs free time as well and that at the end of the day. Its more likely that people can make an announced or regular event that they know is coming than something held sporadically since most have to set time aside to play in the first place.
So in short. People have to set time aside to play. Announced events usually go down better as people know its coming and can plan accordingly. There doesn't have to be one set time for absolutely everything and others can be made standard to include other people.
A summary'd be nice in the World forum. Perhaps each event could have a thread and different characters could post their perspectives IC as what they've been gossiping in taverns... bards could post / perform songs about it and so on?

Honestly, I just enjoy seeing things happen. We can't all be present for all the things, we should be grateful to be a part of what we can. If you want to see more events occur at certain times, and you want to try running an event, feel free to apply to story council. The people who do run events often go thankless and wind up seeing threads like these which must come across like criticism.
That said, thank you storytellers! I'm thankful that you take the time, whenever that time is, to tell your stories regardless of who is involved in them!

Doesn't seem like criticism to me, just someone wanting some more of a good thing!
I don't know if I've ever been involved in one of these events, but I've seen bits and pieces and fragments of them. I'd think the solution ought to be more events and more storytellers. Seems like a win-win for FK.

Exactly so, tis the opposite of criticism. I like them alot and want to hog them all to myself is the problem here.
Or really, It feels like missed opportunity when I'm involved in a portion of it but not in the whole thing but I'll take what I can get.

Something that hooked me into FK was the fact that despite being below level 10 I was part of an Imm-run event in which a follower of Talona poisoned the water supply and caused otherwise normal citizens to become enraged and hostile. I ended up having my character killed by the Constable, but I felt involved and I walked away with my own unique story despite not having a great deal of time invested.
If it is possible I would suggest more coordination and planning in the World section of the forums that informs the populace of an upcoming event so that more people have the ability to participate.
I'd also like to see more posts similar to Aesnir's in which he ICly summarized the events. It would be awesome to see the perspectives of players I don't normally get to roleplay with and to get a better feel for a character's personality I'm already acquainted with.
I don't mean this as a harsh criticism, but a suggestion so that more folks can enjoy "more of a good thing."
Also cheers to the storytellers for running the events in a way that involves all characters level 1 - 50. It is a big part of what made feel like I had an actual character in the world.

From my experience imms run their events based on the numbers on the who list.
Meaning they are giving as many people as they can - in accordance with their own life obligations - a chance to come to their roleplay.
Imms are not RP bots, they have jobs, children, spouses and hobbies also. :)

One of my favorite things as a player is to log in and hear the story of some crazy Imm run RP event from multiple different people. Often times I'll get hearsay and have to track down someone that was actually there to find out what happened. That being said, I enjoy being part of them even more, but the randomness keeps it special.
