Performances

Is any story or song presented by a bard (or any character, really), considered a performance? Or does there have to be some sort of notice on the calendar of a performance in a specific place at a specific time for it to be official? Are there any benefits to having performances (pay, glory) other than the obvious IC recognition?

Bards perform because they love it, and sometimes another player will pay for a song, or sometimes an imm will catch the performance and reward the bard with glory or exp. There are both kinds of performances, too. Often bards will randomly perform in MS. Then there are events like fairs etc, that the staff works hard to plan. Bards are asked to email in saying they would like to perform, and the day of the event, everyone at the fair/fest/ball goes to one room and watches bards performed as they're called on. It's a lot of fun. :D
