I've come across two weapons so far that are labeled "knuckles", yet they do piercing damage with no mention of stabby bits in their descriptions. I find this odd since knuckles generally do not have jabbing tips.
Is this because they all do the same damage variant since they're the same weapon type (cestus), or is it just an error in setting up the weapon objects themselves?
Question regarding cestus weapons in-game.

Rycird walks up to the seemingly comatose woman, then reaches forward to poke Areia in the forehead, keeping his finger there and lightly pushing her head back and forth. 'See? Dead.'

Re: Question regarding cestus weapons in-game.
It's almost definitely not the former. We have, e.g., scythes and lances, both of which are polearms, but one slashes while the other pierces.
I've just had a quick look at a few sources for curiosity's sake, and most everything I find seems to suggest something like the following.
That's entirely a guess, though. I really have no clue.

Even without spikes or nails, you have those metal plates/balls/strips (unless you're practicing, usually) that provide a means of concentrating all the force behind a punch into a very small area which apparently is enough to punch holes into things and people. Thus the piercing. I assume since normal weapons in FK can't do more than one type of damage, piercing was chosen for whatever reason. Daggers are similar in that they can't slash, but only pierce. I tend to think piercing makes more sense for most cesti used in actual combat.d20pfsrd wrote: The cestus is a glove of leather or thick cloth that covers the wielder from mid-finger to mid-forearm. The close combat weapon is reinforced with metal plates over the fingers and often lined with wicked spikes along the backs of the hands and wrists.

Re: Question regarding cestus weapons in-game.
Actually, metal plates would be bludgeoning. "Cestus" as an in-game weapon type holds katars (my "punch daggers" are glorified katars by their description), push daggers and knuckledusters. I have knuckledusters that do piercing damage when they don't indicate anything along the lines of "it has spikes". That's why I was asking.
Saying a knuckleduster should inherently do piercing is like saying a sai should be used to stab people.
...
It's sad that some people think sai are actually meant to be used as primary weapons. While sure, you can use them to jab into someone's ribs, they don't have edges to begin with. They're weapons meant for disarming your opponent, whether by snapping their sword's blade or completely removing the weapon from their hands. This is why I compare it to such.
As a note: I'm not really dissing the monk-style characters that dual wield sai, I just try to think about a sai compared to a stiletto when used on living, armored flesh.

I assume someone was trying to code spiked gauntlets or spiked knuckles and didn't desc them accordingly
I trained up double-edged bananas because the uber-plantain of doom I scored from the beehive quest was the best weapon in the game. Now it's being treated like a bug and they have gimped its damage! That's not fair! My character is ruined!
