[Helpfiles] Sending tells to Unknown PCs

For whatever reason lately I've been getting a ton of tells from characters who have never met my character and whom mine has never met. I swear I remember seeing a note about this being a no-no somewhere, but I can't for the life of me find it now.

If I'm just missing it, feel free to ignore. :D

But if it's not in either the tell or amulet helpfile, I'd suggest something like the below be added to one or both of those.
*IC tells should be limited to PCs whom your character has met ICly or of whose name your character would reasonably know.
That last bit allows for Telling when, say, you've been told about Mr. X by Mrs. Y or saw Mr. X's name on the message boards.

I don't send tells to characters I don't know ICly even while I'm dead, but I think this one might have been deamed okay behavior? If so, that could be noted as an exception.

Thanks!

I think there's certain situations where it doesn't honestly hurt. In the event you're dead and reaching out to someone because you don't know anyone? That's fair, especially if they seem in a high position to help. High Priests, FMs and the like.

I've gotten tells from people who are interested in the faith, or heard my characters name from someone, etc. and I feel those are fine also.

When there's no prior interaction and suddenly I'm being asked "Where do you find fireshield?" and I'm playing a bard/thief/warrior/other class that probably doesn't get that spell, that's where I draw a line of what in the world is going on.

Tells are generally bad if overly used and are made as a primary source of conversation, I feel. But if it's just a question and someone heard that you might have the answer and they reach out to you that way without prior conversation, no harm no foul, unless it's in your characters nature to scold them.

I'm curious what kind of things you are being asked by strangers. Mine usually insults and is generally unpleasant enough to people he doesn't know that it's not often a problem.

I keep telling you. You're too nice.

As to whether this should or shouldn't be allowed. if help tell isn't clear enough then perhaps the player base should decide a more exact definition for it's purpose then set limits on how it is used as of right now it's a bit of a free for all

NOTE: I don't handle the site help system too well and since I can't login atm this suggestion is made without reading help tell too recently..

This sort of thing.

I only braught up the suggestion because, like I said, I thought I'd seen somewhere that the amulets weren't meant to be able to call on ICly random people, but now I'm really starting to think I just imagined it somehow because I can't find it anywhere. lol

But yeah, I obviously don't mind being asked for help at all. Just was under the impression that this was an example of how not to go about getting it.

Edit: Also, I've gotten these sorts of tells on alts more than only Areia. Areia I usually understand getting random people in my head since she's a fairly well known name, but one or two of my other alts... Not so much.

My suggestion is to treat them all like red wizard spies if you get inappropriate tells.

Dress them up in red bath robes and set them on fire.
