Will staffmaking and wandmaking work like brew and scribe? As in, will we need an item or two in our inventory, type makewand "spellname" and be given a 'wand of magic missile'? The idea of that seems rather bland to me... don't get me wrong, the aspect of making a wand or staff thrills me as much as the next guy, but I'm worried that the craft will be very bland.

I was thinking, though, could we be able to create our own custom staves and wands, given the right ingredients? Or will there be only one way to make a wand of lightning bolts? Some wizards might like to tailor what the wand looks like to fit their own style, such as 'a topaz studded, slender silver wand' over 'an iron wand of lightning bolt'... will that be possible?

Currently the two skills are coded to use a wood item gathered by the logging trade. With the logging trade there are a variety of woods attainable with different color codes and names. Currently there is no means to use metals or add gems.

But instead of just calling something 'bland' that takes the coders alot of time and effort to put into the game perhaps you should just THANK THEM for what is available on this MU*. And if you would like to suggest a change to something, first see how it is intended to work and then make suggestions without claiming something is going to be 'bland' before you ever even see the skill used, neither skill is even past the testing stage currently so it is unlikely you've seen how they work.

About my post concerning staffmaking and wandmaking in the wizards and sorcerers forum, I am very sorry. I did not mean to be insulting to anyone. I do recognize that the coders put many hours of work into the trade (and my bad for thinking it was a skill) and appreciate them for that; it's generous of them to do so for the rest of us.

Timaeus, Mystra and, anyone else who might have felt that I was out of line, I extend my deepest apologies to you. Many of you have been good friends to me while I've played here over the years, I am sorry for belittling your efforts.
