List command addition

With the huge influx of RMI items that are on the market now, would it be possible to adjust the list command to allow for someone to armor list items based on their armor type?
Example.
List fullplate
List leather
List cloth
This would make shopping around so much easier.

Is the problem reading through the hundred odd items, or is the problem that you don't know what something is made off unless you examine it? Or both ?
Just wanted to get a clearer idea for the need.

While I do not know what Algon specificially had a reason for, I would agree with his general idea for both the reasons you mentioned. I do not even attempt to look at anything on a vendor, except those vendors I know have certain items I may want to start out with for a particular character. The reason for this is the long lists and the inability to narrow them down to know for certain if the description actually matches the reality of the item. I would go so far as to also do this with weapons, but make them the basic skill category of the weapon. It would definitely help when I am looking for a specific type of weapon or armor.

In the mean time, if it helps you can actually examine specific items.
You will either need to copy paste or type the items defining characteristics within quotes though.
e.g.
examine 'black cuirass embedded with garnets' delborgan
This will let you see the exat item as shown on the list, instead of struggling to examien the right cuirass out of 10.

There is also the even lesser-known "list <keyword>" syntax, which in my experience has proven sufficient enough along with the examine syntax given above to make shopping even at Lucian and similar shops really quick and easy. If you use "list greatsword", for instance, you will get a list of all objects sold by the vendor that have "greatsword" in their name. It's good for searching for particular colors or patterns, too--"list red" would give you everything with "red" in its name, etc. "list long" is the one exception to this: that command will give the full sales list, but without costs beside the short descs, which I've found super handy for better seeing those objects whose full name is cut off by the price.
It's not perfect. Full plate chest armor might be a "cuirass", but it might also be a "harness", or "breastplate", or even just "plate". But at least with RMI, the range of names given to most items isn't so large.
