The trial of Cabadath.

Post by Rakthar » Wed Dec 13, 2017 6:35 am

[Three parter possibly, will post as replies to this thread.]
Daerin looks at Belator Durmstrang.

Aislynn dips her head respectfully at Belator Durmstrang as he enters.
Hagor looks at Belator Durmstrang.

A blind, wretched-looking male human wets his lips at the sound.

The bailiff says 'The tribunal begins with the selection of tribunes three.'

Saoirse inclines her head respectfully.

Furtaltik takes travellers rations from an ornate sapphire leather pack.

Skylar's chin lifts slightly as she listens.
Ailyn stops using a ring of the Weave.
Ailyn slips her finger into a grey copper ring set with a large bloodstone.

Elisabeth looks at Katheryn.
Skylar nods her head in agreement with Katheryn.

Belator Durmstrang looks at the bailiff, lifting a finger.

Aislynn looks at Skylar.

Elisabeth looks at Belator Durmstrang.

Aislynn smiles at Skylar.

He is dressed in white plate mail. Despite the pious look, he doesn't look
like someone you want to cross. Over his eyes is a thin white piece of cloth.
On one hand is a white glove and on the other is a black gloves. Around his
neck he wears a holy symbol of his god.
Belator Durmstrang is in perfect health.

You slowly float to the ground.

The bailiff says 'Whom shall stand for tribune of reason?'.

Skylar smiles at Aislynn in return, her attention falling back to the bailiff.

Celric steps forward, 'I would.'.

A blind, wretched-looking male human turns to set the cup he holds at his seat, lifting his head. 'I will.'.

A blind, wretched-looking male human stops using a wooden cup of ale.

A scrawny male rock gnome is in perfect health.

You suddenly feel less coordinated...

Katheryn looks at A blind, wretched-looking male human.

Hagor looks at A blind, wretched-looking male human.

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

Furtaltik steps out from the benches to be seen, 'I will.'.

You regain enough power to cast gate.

Elisabeth's gaze passes over the three.

The bailiff says 'Three step forward, upon whom do the defence and opposition agree?'.

Aziza turns to scrutinize each of the three volunteers.

Daerin says 'No objections, Your honor.'

Skylar looks at Furtaltik.

A blind, wretched-looking male human finds his way forward with tiny steps, politely apologizing to every person he squeezes past.

Aziza says to Daerin 'I think we're supposed to pick just one of them for now.'

Daerin Hmmmms...

Daerin nods at Aziza. 'I choose Master Marvin.'.

Aziza asks 'Is Marvin the blind man?'

Daerin nods.

A blind, wretched-looking male human says 'I am called Marvin in the Sword Coasts. Before that, I was only known as blind one.'

Daerin says 'Just so.'

Saoirse looks at A blind, wretched-looking male human.

Aziza nods, 'I'll agree to that. No objections.'.

Aziza looks at A blind, wretched-looking male human.

Elisabeth looks at A blind, wretched-looking male human.

Aislynn looks at A blind, wretched-looking male human.

A blind, wretched-looking male human brings his hands together in a kowtowing gesture, head bowing. 'I accept this grave responsibility' he says with severity in his foreign accent.

The bailiff says 'Marvin is so appointed to Tribune for reason.'.

This frumpy little man hunches from a bent back. Both his dark beard and the
hair of his head are a short, lice-free cut. A pair of uneven scars cross his
brow resembling an X, one stroke across each of his slightly-slanted eyes.
They occasionally reveal their sheer white. His strong calloused hands and
wrinkles suggest him to be of middle-age. Though the years have not been kind
to him, he appears to have bathed recently.

The bailiff says 'Whom shall step forward to be tribune for emotion?'.

Daerin grins.

Skylar's light blue eyes lift towards Yuli.

Celric inclines his head to A blind, wretched-looking male human, and then speaks up again to the bailiff, 'I will.'.

Skylar looks at Yuli.

Hagor says 'Meh can'

Skylar looks at Hagor.

Celric looks at Hagor.

Furtaltik speaks a bit more confidently, 'Furtaltik of Waterdeep.'.

Aziza looks at Hagor.

Hagor cants his head.

Daerin glances at Aziza. 'Your turn to pick.'.

Yuli tips her head towards Skylar.

The bailiff says 'Upon whom do the defence and opposition agree?'.

Elisabeth purses her lips tightly at the sound of Hagor's offering.

Aziza gestures towards Furtaltik, 'I would choose the gnome for this responsibility.'.

Daerin Hmmmms...

Daerin looks at Furtaltik.

Skylar stops using a sunburst jewel.
A tiny, gangly gnome with a large bulb of a nose and a bit of stubble on his
upper lip. He has wide, brown eyes that appear to glisten with flecks of
yellow or gold. Short, black hair peeks out from under his hood. A
leather-bound book with arcane symbols bobs behind his belt.

Aziza says 'Gnomes are the most emotionally apt race.'

Aziza nods at Furtaltik.

Daerin looks at Furtaltik, then cocks his head, thinking for a long moment.

Daerin nods. 'No objection.'.

Yuli stops using an elegant bracelet with a fire ruby heart.

Belator Durmstrang frowns and then whispers to the bailiff.

Katheryn's fingers toy idly with the woven cord about her wrist, smiling faintly at the proceedings.

Yuli stops using a ruby rose on a silver chain.

The bailiff says 'The gnome is a known contact of the accused. He is invalid.'.

Elisabeth frowns.

The bailiff says 'Upon whom do the defence and opposition agree?'.

You raise an eyebrow.

Elisabeth looks at Furtaltik.

Furtaltik steps back, frowning, and takes a seat.

Skylar nods faintly, then looks to Hagor.

Furtaltik sits down and relaxes.

Furtaltik sits on a long wooden bench.

Katheryn looks at Hagor.

Daerin glances to Aziza, then offers. 'I'd move for Master Celric to stand for the Tribune of Emotion.'.

Hagor hmmms '...meh need ta withdraw den...meh do know Cabadath' he says in honesty.

Elisabeth looks upon Furtaltik for a long moment, then briefly toward you with knitted brows ere she shakes her head to look forward again.

Aziza asks Daerin 'Well, we don't exactly have a lot of options, do we?'

Daerin grins at Aziza.

Daerin says to Aziza 'See? Luck.'

Daerin wiggles his eyebrows toward Aziza.

Aziza stares at Daerin.

Skylar frowns faintly.

Yuli slightly frowns.

Celric glances at Daerin, and lifts his eyebrows.

Daerin hums a little tune.

The bailiff says 'Upon whom do the defence and opposition agree?'.

Aziza asks Hagor 'How well do you know Cabadath?'

Hagor says to Aziza 'No clue. ENough ta go adventuring wit him with no qualms'

Aziza says to Hagor 'And what is the nature of your relationship.'

Hagor says to Aziza 'Friend'

Cabadath's lips curl upwards in a soft smile.

Aziza fixes a look on Ailyn, Yuli, Hostelner, Saoirse, Harroghty, and A graceful, saturnine male halfelf, 'And there are no additional volunteers?'.

Hostelner stands and dips his head before saying 'I, Lord Hostelner Blackthorn, will offer myself to stand for emotion.'.

Daerin blinks at Hostelner in disbelief.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf looks pensive.

The bailiff says 'Tribune Celric cannot be agreed upon?'.

Katheryn purses her lips tightly, glancing aside at Skylar before she looks over to Elisabeth with a faint smile, gaze shifting to Hostelner with a growing smile.

Katheryn looks at Hostelner.

Aislynn looks at Hostelner.

Aziza looks at Hostelner.

Ailyn glances at Hostelner.

Celric presses his lips together, glancing off to the side.

Daerin Hmmmms...

A blind, wretched-looking male human listens with a very slight turn of his head, eyes fluttering in a wince of thought. He stiffens his lips as he listens quite intently with only a wiggle of his toes where he stands.

Aziza points towards Hostelner, 'I'll accept Lord Hostelner Blackthorn, then.'.

Saoirse rubs her forehead lightly.

Aislynn hmms softly.

Yuli whispers something to Aislynn.

Daerin shrugs at Celric, then nods to Aziza. 'In the interest of an expediant trial, which Cabadath is entitled too, I must agree.'.

The bailiff sayto daerin Do you accept Blackthorn or are you at a disagreement.

Aislynn leans over slightly to listen to Yuli.

The bailiff say Then Hostelner is accepted as Tribune of Emotion.

The bailiff says 'Then Hostelner is accepted as Tribune of Emotion.'

Elisabeth nods.

Aziza says to Daerin 'The requirement for a speedy trial is to avoid the accused languishing in prison without being judged. That is not what is occuring here.'

Hostelner nods and steps to the side of A blind, wretched-looking male human.

Daerin says to Aziza 'My statement stands.'

The bailiff asks 'Last Tribune, balance. Who will offer themselves to be appointed by the Justice?'

A blind, wretched-looking male human bows his head in a nod of quiet greeting to Hostelner.

You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.

Celric rubs at the back of his neck, 'I will.'.
The set of black marble doors is closed.

Daerin gazes thoughtfully at Celric and says 'Hmmm.'

The bailiff looks to Belator Durmstrang, then to those gathered.

Harroghty takes a step gl.

Belator Durmstrang says to Celric 'Done'

Celric looks at Belator Durmstrang.

Harroghty takes a step to the wall and assumes a lean against it.
You nod at him.

Daerin nods at you.

Celric blinks once, glancing over Belator Durmstrang. He nods, and bows his head.

Hostelner stops using a bracelet of intertwined gears.

Aislynn nods faintly at Yuli.

Hostelner stops using an amulet of communication.

Daerin raises a hand. 'I'd like to request that the Loremaster be offered entrance to this trial, as his testimony will likely be imperitive for both sides cases.'.

Aziza holds a hand up, 'Might I have a private word with the Justice on a matter related to one of my witnesses?'.

The bailiff says 'Three tribunes are set, from them shall deliberation be made in concert with the Justice.'

The bailiff says to Daerin 'So noted.'

The bailiff says to Aziza 'Approach and inform his honour.'

Aziza nods.

Aziza takes a few steps closer to whisper to Belator Durmstrang.

A lanky, chestnut-haired female human is in perfect health.

A blind, wretched-looking male human reaches up to remove the amulet around his neck, pulling it free and putting it up his sleeve.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.

A blind, wretched-looking male human stops using an amulet of communication.
The set of black marble doors is closed.

Thaien nods.

Elisabeth looks at Thaien.

Daerin waves to Thaien.
You blink.
You nod at him.

Hagor waves to Thaien.

Aislynn dips her head politely to Thaien.

Celric looks at Thaien.

Ailyn dips her head to Thaien from her seat.

Thaien looks around at the gathered crowd then nods to you and Daerin, then takes a seat. 'I apologize for my tardiness.'.

Celric nods over to Thaien.

Someone knocks on the set of black marble doors to the south.

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

The bailiff says to Daerin 'Inform him of the expected strictures of the tribunal, there is minimal leeway.'

Daerin blinks.

Daerin says to Thaien 'No talking, eating, or general horseplay unless called upon.'

Elisabeth stares at the sky.

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'It will be taken into consideration, however the procedings will go forward nonetheless.'

Daerin shrugs in response to Elisabeth.

Elisabeth looks sidelong toward Thaien, 'And most especially no magic or weapons bared.'.

Aziza nods slowly before returning to her station.

Daerin says to Thaien 'Ahh, right. No amulets.'
The set of black marble doors is closed.

Daerin says to Thaien 'No spells. You'll likely be found in contempt. Whispers only, please.'

Daerin nods at Belator Durmstrang.

You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.

Aziza clasps her hands behind her back as she addresses Belator Durmstrang, 'May I therefore begin with a reading of the formal charges brought against Cabadath the Mad?'.

Thaien nods at Daerin.

The bailiff thwumps his staff on the tiles of the hall, 'We commence this trial against one Cabadath. As recognized as the personage here.'.

Thaien stops using a finely crafted purple bronze amulet.

Hostelner throws his cloak to the side and takes a seat.

Hostelner sits and relaxes.

The bailiff point you.

Elisabeth looks at you.

Thaien stops using a silvery laced bracer with sunstar embroidery.
You nod.

Hagor looks at you.

Celric tilts his head a touch aside, glancing between Aziza and the bailiff briefly. His gaze follows the indication to you, and gives a small nod.

The bailiff continues, 'The defence is here noted as Daerin. The prosecution Aziza.'.

the bailiff says 'The prosecution may begin the reading of said charged followed by the opening statement. The defence may then make its statement.'

Belator Durmstrang nod, 'Begin.'.

A lanky, chestnut-haired female human is in perfect health.

Celric takes a small step back toward the other tribune, gaze fixing on Aziza.

Aziza clears her throat politely, 'Many thanks for your forbearance for our inexperience, judge. And as I am not intoxicated, allow me to begin in all earnestness. Cabadath is charged therefore with three principle crimes.' She pauses, turning towards the three tribunes as she continues, 'He is charged with the reckless and dangerous practice of necromancy, with the bringing to a hideous unlife of innocent souls. He is also charged with the murder of Isabelle Marshall and the murder of Vaeritas Marshall.'.

Celric squints briefly as he listens, hmming softly.

A blind, wretched-looking male human dryly scrapes his bottom lip with his teeth as he listens, his face drawn up like a lemon-sucking pucker.

Daerin nods at Aziza, and speaks.

Daerin nods. 'It is my intent to prove that while Cabadath was indeed raising the undead, his intent was scholarly in nature, and the deaths of the Marshall children were accidents cause by zealotry on their part, and that their lives were wasted at their own discretio' n."
You no longer feel heroic.

Aziza clasps her hands together as she continues, 'His every crime has been witnessed, and these witnesses will speak to you of what they saw. Necromancy is an affront to civilised races, but the necromancy of Cabadath, also known as Cabadath the Mad, has gone beyond what may be tolerated by any sane ind' ividuals." She briefly shakes her head, 'You will therefore have to find him guilty, to ensure the safety of the realms. You may be tempted to find that his actions, which took place beyond the walls of a city, are -'.

The bailiff says to Daerin 'Wait your turn.'

Daerin coughs and waits his turn.

Elisabeth rubs briefly at her nose.
Your title has been set to ', The Mad?'.
Note: your title is 'in character' information, so please ensure that it is
appropriate for your character.
Your title has been set to 'The Mad?'.
Note: your title is 'in character' information, so please ensure that it is
appropriate for your character.

A blind, wretched-looking male human flares his nostrils as a laugh tries to sneak out on his breath.

Cabadath winces ever so slightly at the interruption.

Aziza bobs her head lightly and continues, in brief, 'You may be tempted to find that his actions took place beyond the jurisdiction of any city, but you must remember, this is a court of Tyr. The gods are everywhere, and their justice is everywhere. If you find in favour of this argument..' She pauses, for brief dramatic effect, '.. then you must fear for your safety every time you travel. Justice must be for every man, woman, and child, regardless of where they are. It is the hallmark of civilization, the trait which seperates us from the savages of the wilderness. Thank-you.' She bows her head lightly towards Daerin.

Daerin apologizes to Aziza.

The bailiff says to Daerin 'You may speak your opening statement now, defence.'

Daerin clears his throat loudly.

Katheryn looks at Isabelle.

Harroghty looks at you.

Celric folds his arms over his chest, keeping his attention on Aziza for a moment longer before fixing the same attention on Daerin.

Elisabeth gives a slight nod toward Aziza, then looks to Daerin.

Katheryn spies Isabelle and blinks in surprise, giving a faint smile before looking around briefly, then settling her gaze back to the focus of Daerin.

Skylar flexes her left hand carefully, then settles it back to rest with the other with thumbs looped into the swordbelt slung low on her hip.
Cabadath's gaze wanders from Aziza to Daerin.

Daerin nods. 'It is my intent to prove that while Cabadath was indeed raising the undead, his intent was scholarly in nature, and the deaths of the Marshall children were accidents cause by zealotry on their part, and that their lives were wasted at their own discretio' n. While the law of the gods is everywhere, it is up to the worshipers to act with reasonable care. In attacking Cabadath in these circumstances, the children in question have proven that their actions were not those of a rational person, and that Cabadaths response must be considered as one of self defense, rather than one of intentional murder."

Daerin says 'In the scholarly pursuit of raising the dead, Cabadath was plumbing the depths of the school of necromancy, in order to better understand it in his role as an Oghman and potential educator.'
Cabadath nods quietly as Daerin speaks.

Skylar's pinkish lips curl faintly downwards at one corner.

Daerin bows his head, nodding to Aziza and to the bailiff, completing his statement.

Saoirse maintains her arms crossed as her gaze moves over to Elisabeth thoughtfully for just a moment before it returns to the front.

Celric hums quietly a moment, rubbing on his chin.

Ailyn silently shakes her head, listening.

Aziza turns to address Daerin quite frankly, 'Is Cabadath choosing to confess to the charge of necromancy?'.
Cabadath keeps his gaze on Daerin.

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

A blind, wretched-looking male human lifts one eyebrow as he squints pointlessly in pondering, shifting on his feet.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf cocks an eyebrow.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Save it for the stand, prosecution.'

Elisabeth gives a second, similar nod at Daerin's conclusion.

Aziza bows her head lightly towards Belator Durmstrang and raises her hands.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf looks at Aziza.

Daerin smiles at Aziza, and says nothing.

Hostelner looks at Belator Durmstrang.

Thaien hums quietly to himself, nodding along with the proceedings.

The bailiff looks to Aziza and Daerin, 'Prosecutor flips, defence calls. Winner may present their witness/evidence first.'.

The bailiff drops a shiny gold flipping coin.

A blind, wretched-looking male human briefly smiles at the sound of a coin hitting the floor.
Aziza gets a shiny gold flipping coin.

Aziza holds a shiny gold flipping coin in her right hand.

Aziza glances at Daerin.

Daerin says 'I call life.'
You nod at him.

Daerin says 'Growing oak.'

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf snickers.

Celric grins briefly.

Aziza nods, 'Ahh, life in prison.' She flips the coin.

Aziza stops using a shiny gold flipping coin.
Aziza drops a shiny gold flipping coin.
The golden coin falls on the dead tree stump face.

Daerin tsks.

Aziza gets a shiny gold flipping coin.

Aziza gives a shiny gold flipping coin to Belator Durmstrang.

Aziza clasps her hands together again once the coin is handed off, 'In that case, I would call Elisabeth Marshall to the stand.'.

The bailiff says to Daerin 'You may object to a question, but you may not question their witness until the prosecution is finished. You will go after them, and the same rules apply.'

Daerin nods at the bailiff in acknowledgement.

Hostelner looks at Daerin.

The bailiff says 'Both parties shall alternate, presenting witnesses/evidence, the opposing party able to question it only after.'
Cabadath shifts his gaze to Aziza.

Elisabeth rises from her seat only when the bailiff finishes, stepping forward to approach the stand with head given to brief bow.

Elisabeth greets you.

Belator Durmstrang asks 'Is there any question to this before the first the prosecution begins?'

A blind, wretched-looking male human steepens his jaw and shakes his head very slowly.

Daerin says to Belator Durmstrang 'None, your honor.'

Aziza shakes her head, 'No questions, your honour.'.

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'Continue.'

Aziza bows her head lightly, 'My thanks.' She approaches the stand and addresses Elisabeth, 'Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth before these mortal witnesses and your god Tyr, knowing that any failure to tell the truth will see your eternal soul judged harshly?'.

Elisabeth says with words pitched to carry clear throughout the hall, 'Aye, I so swear.'.

Elisabeth looks at Aziza.

Aziza gives a short nod towards Elisabeth, 'Very well. Then, allow me to begin. Where was it that you encountered the defendant, Cabadath?'.

Elisabeth says to Aziza 'Within the Howling Peaks.'

Aziza nods, 'And was he accompanied by undead? If so, how many undead were there?'.

Daerin says 'Objection.'

Elisabeth replies, seemingly not at all discomforted by her present position, 'He was. Fifteen Fi--'.

Elisabeth glances at Daerin.

Aziza raises her brow at Daerin, but remains silent.

Daerin says 'The number of undead is not in question in this trial, only the fact of whether or not he was animating'

Skylar rests her face in her palm for a moment.

Aziza says 'I fail to see any reason to object to the question.'

Aziza says 'I am attempting to show that not only is Cabadath a necromancer, but he is also a necromancer of such prolific quantity as to become far more hazardous than even others of his dark profession.'

Celric glances at Daerin, canting his head aside.

Belator Durmstrang says 'I'll allow it for now, but make sure the details stay relevant to this trial.'

Elisabeth looks a wordless question toward Belator Durmstrang.

Elisabeth nods.

Daerin bows his head to Belator Durmstrang and accepts the ruling.

Elisabeth says to Aziza 'Fifteen reanimated goblin corpses, Mistress Aziza.'

Aziza bows her head lightly, 'Thank-you, your honour.' She turns back to address Elisabeth, 'Now, in your own words, tell us what happened when you encountered Cabadath, up to the point that a fight started. Try not to leave out any detail.'.
Cabadath reaches up to tenderly hold his symbol.

Skylar's lips curl faintly, a glimmer of stark white teeth revealed by some distaste as she listens.

A graceful, saturnine male .

Harroghty pushes himself away from the wall with an elbow and stands straight, his hands going to hang upon the lip of his belt.

Aislynn breathes out a soft, perhaps slightly frustrated exhalation.
Other players will see your pose as 'Cabadath is tenderly grasping the symbol around his neck, sitting besides Daerin.'.

Elisabeth takes a short breath, then says, her gaze wandering from Aziza to pass over A blind, wretched-looking male human, Hostelner, and Celric as she does, 'We came upon the horde and quickly enough determined it was likely to belong to the wizard Cabadath. The accusation was spoken by Vaeritas, and Cabadath freely admitted to the charge.'.

Hostelner crosses his legs and leans back in his seat to take on a more elegant posture as he listens to Elisabeth.

Elisabeth says 'We demanded he release them each from their servitude, explaining that it is not his place to bend another's will.'

Aziza gives a short nod as she listens to Elisabeth.

Celric hesitates a moment, before leaning aside to whisper quietly to Hostelner.

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

Hostelner leans over just slightly to hear Celric.

Elisabeth lifts a hand, recalling, 'He disagreed. He willed them to be his, and so they were rightly his, he argued.' She pauses. ''Seize power as you find it, and make yourself free', were his words.'.
Cabadath keeps his gaze on Elisabeth as she speaks.

a bracelet of intertwined gears glows briefly as Hostelner activates it.

.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf looks at Hostelner.

Aziza nods slowly towards Elisabeth, 'Did your brother, Vaeritas, come to any sort of agreement with Cabadath regarding his undead slaves?'.

Celric quickly lays a hand on Hostelner's flashing bracely, and nods, as he leans back, gaze remaining level on Elisabeth.

Hostelner stops using a bracelet of intertwined gears.

The bailiff gives Hostelner a single warning finger.

Elisabeth pauses once more to let her words hang, then says on with a nod for Aziza, 'Again we demanded, and again he refused. It was then when..' she takes a short breath, flexing fingers in her lap, 'Vaeritas made to strike a bargon. He would give of himself for the sake of the undead.'.

Hostelner puts a bracelet of intertwined gears in a small box of interlocked cogs and gears.

Elisabeth says 'He offered that Cabadath may take his life, in return for releasing the fifteen zombies.'
Daerin says 'Objection, your honor.'

Elisabeth glances at Daerin.

Aziza glances towards Daerin, 'What is your objection now?'.

Belator Durmstrang asks 'On what grounds?'

Daerin says 'The deal, whether or not it was discussed, is irrelevant to this trial. It is not in question.'

Elisabeth lifts her dark brows at Daerin.

A blind, wretched-looking male human braces a fist to his face as he leans in with curiosity drawing up his eyebrows.

Belator Durmstrang asks Aziza 'Councilor?'

Aziza stares incredulously at Daerin, 'Are you going to suggest that everything which doesn't fit the defendant's view of things is irrelevant?'.
Cabadath flickers his gaze between Aziza and Daerin as they speak.

Daerin says to Aziza 'I'm suggesting that no charges were leveled regarding it, therefore, it has no bearing.'

Aziza says to Belator Durmstrang 'This so-called agreement, made from terms which would not stand in any tyrran court, are at the heart of why this fight took place. It is essential to lay the groundwork of our prosecution.'

Elisabeth nods at Aziza.

Belator Durmstrang taps his finger tips together, looking at Aziza.

Elisabeth insists that, 'If there were no deal, the remainder of the incident may well have gone quite a lot differently,' firmly.

Skylar rubs at her golden brow idly, looking past her palm towards Daerin for a moment before drawing it away from her face.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf crosses his arms with a snort, his posture suggesting that somewhere within the depths of his hood, his eyes are rolling.

Saoirse clears her throat.

The bailiff says to Aziza 'Remind your witness to answer only what she is called on.'

Elisabeth briefly bows her head.

Harroghty looks at the bailiff.

Aziza nods slowly, then addresses Elisabeth, 'Please only answer questions directed at you for the duration of your time in the witness stand.'.

Ailyn rubs against her brow briefly, silver eyes returning forward.

Elisabeth nods once at Aziza.

Belator Durmstrang glances at Elisabeth, then to Aziza, 'I will allow you to continue, but do show how this ties in to the deaths.'.

Elisabeth remains silent, looking toward Aziza.

Aziza gives a slow nod, 'My thanks, Justice.' She addresses Elisabeth with a firm look and speaks the next words very carefully, 'What did your brother agree to in exchange for the removal of the undead?'.

Aziza holds a hand up, 'Please answer in the most succinct way possible.'.

A blind, wretched-looking male human hunches his shoulders and tilts an ear to listen for Elisabeth.
Cabadath presses his lips ever so slightly, paying attention to Elisabeth.

Harroghty lets his hands fall from his belt and, instead, clasps them behind his back.

Thaien is devoured by a portable hole.

Elisabeth pauses ere answering Aziza, 'His flesh in exchange for the release of the undead.'.

Thaien has returned to this reality.

Aziza nods, 'You mean your brother's life?'.

Elisabeth says to Aziza 'That is what the terms came to, yes.'

Aziza nods again, 'Very well. What did you do to prevent this deal from taking place?'.

A blind, wretched-looking male human leans over and speaks in a succinct and short breath to Hostelner.

Hostelner gives a brief nod to the bailiff.

Elisabeth lifts a hand slightly, 'I first attempted multiple counts of verbal dissuasion. At that point, my only care was for Vaeritas' well being, I did not wish conflict.'.

Elisabeth says to Aziza 'But Vaeritas did not listen.'

Aziza nods slowly, 'So, did you attack Cabadath to prevent him from slaying your brother?'.

Daerin says 'Objection. The council is leading the witness.'

Hostelner motions for the bailiff to come over.

Elisabeth looks toward you and nods curtly once. 'As was my--'.

Elisabeth rubs at her nose.

Aziza holds her hands up wardingly, 'Allow me to rephrase the question. What happened when your attempts to dissuade from this deal were ignored?'.

Daerin nods.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Sustained.'

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'Rephrase your questions without giving the answer.'

Aziza nods at Belator Durmstrang.

Aziza says 'My apologies, Justice.'

Elisabeth holds silent to await permission to speak on.

Aziza asks Elisabeth 'What did you try after attempting verbal dissuasion?'

The bailiff leans towards Hostelner.

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

Thaien Hmmmms...

Katheryn's face is unreadable as her fingers unlink from each other, moving to toy with the devotional medal about her wrist, gaze shifting from person to person as they speak.

Saoirse rolls her neck slightly before turning her attention back to the front.

Skylar looks at Katheryn.

Elisabeth says, 'Neither Vaeritas nor Cabadath showing any sign to relent and every sign to near a killing before me, I alone engaged Cabadath with deadly force, to dissuade him physically.'.

Aziza nods towards Elisabeth, 'This is very important, then. You say that you alone engaged Cabadath with deadly force? How did your brother and sister come to be drawn into the fighting?'.

Hostelner speaks quietly to the bailiff.

Elisabeth waits for the objection...

Elisabeth takes a breath...

Skylar glances sidelong at Elisabeth, squinting a bit at the pause.

Daerin says 'Objection, the council asking a compound question'

Elisabeth stares at Daerin.

Ailyn rubs her brow again.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf clutches his sides as his body is rocked with silent peals of laughter.

Daerin says 'Court rules state that only one question be asked at a time, it is a form of leading the witnes.'

Belator Durmstrang says 'Sustained, rephrase council.'

Hostelner nods to the bailiff then leans over to A blind, wretched-looking male human and speaks softly.

Aziza clasps her hands behind her back as she addresses Elisabeth, 'How did your brother and sister come to be drawn into the fighting?'.

Elisabeth says to Aziza 'The wizard employed massively deadly magics to burst the earth and sear the air with blinding fire. None were a part of the confrontation save myself and Cabadath until that point.'

A blind, wretched-looking male human bends an ear to hear Hostelner. He slowly nods his head, straightening.

Celric takes in a slow breath, gaze passing between speakers. His lips remain pursed tightly.

Aislynn hmms softly, her lips forming into a frown.

Aislynn is now AFK.

Elisabeth says, 'Those spells badly injured both Vaeritas and Isabelle, and they two faught thenceforth to defend themselves.' before falling silent.

Aziza nods towards Elisabeth, 'One last question, Ms. Marshall. How much of a danger were you to Cabadath and his fifteen undead goblins?'.

Celric glances over to the bailiff, and gives a small nod of his head.

Elisabeth pauses, '..An amendment, if I may?'.

Elisabeth says to Aziza 'I misspoke.'

Daerin says 'Objection, The question calls for a conclusion. It is not a fact.'
Aziza asks 'You wish to amend your previous answer?'

Elisabeth nods at Aziza.

Belator Durmstrang asks Aziza 'Counci;?'

Aziza nods again, after a few moments, glancing at Belator Durmstrang and then back towards Elisabeth, 'Yes, go on.'.

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'An objection has been raised.'
Aziza says to Belator Durmstrang 'She's being asked to draw a conclusion based on her own experience of events as they unfolded. That is expressly the purpose of a witness, to explain what happened. She is not speculating on what may have been, only describing how much damage she did to Cabadath during the fight.'

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'Overruled.'

Belator Durmstrang says 'Continue.'

Elisabeth says 'I wished to clarify that Cabadath, myself, -and- the zombies were the only original combattants, not myself and he alone. I apologize for misspeaking, your honor.'

Daerin nods.

Thaien shuffles in his seat and leans to murmur something into Daerin's ear.
Other players see your pose as 'Cabadath is tenderly grasping the symbol around his neck, sitting besides Daerin.'.

Aziza casts a glance towards the three tribunes before returning her attention to Elisabeth, 'And your answer to the last question posed to you?'.

Elisabeth asks Aziza 'Restate it, please?'

Aziza asks Elisabeth 'How much damage were you able to inflict on Cabadath before he slew you?'
Cabadath's lips draw downwards in a slight frown.

Elisabeth pauses to consider before saying, 'I cannot say with certainty. I was blinded and utterly incapacitated for the majority of the conflict.'.

Elisabeth says 'The last I was able to see, he was not very injured at all.'

Elisabeth nods.

Aziza nods, 'Thank-you. That is all.' She steps back a few paces and nods towards Daerin, 'Your witness then, sir.'.

Elisabeth looks at Daerin.
Daerin bows before Aziza.

Belator Durmstrang says 'A five minute recess for those who need it.'
Cabadath shifts his gaze towards Daerin.

Furtaltik slides gently from his bench and patters quietly to the door.

Furtaltik rises from his rest.

Hagor stretches luxuriously. Makes you want to, doesn't it?

Skylar exhales a soft breath, checking the sundial on her wrist.

Belator Durmstrang says 'The ground are open for those who need it, but if you leave them, you will not be able to return'

Elisabeth dips her head at Belator Durmstrang, then rises to make way for Katheryn.
The set of black marble doors opens.

Furtaltik walks south.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.

Hagor peers into his waterskin.

Daerin pauses. 'Shall I wait before beginning my questions, Your Honor?'.

Hagor grumbles.
Skylar takes a fresh lemon from a huge pillowcase.

You nod at him.

Elisabeth coughs and totally didn't leave until she's certain she didn't misunderstand.

Belator Durmstrang says 'That would be best, though you might get them in order (write them out in a textpad).'

Daerin nods at Belator Durmstrang.

Aislynn Hmmmms...

Yuli rises from her rest.

Daerin is making this all up as he goes.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf leverages himself away from the wall with his shoulders and approaches Daerin with quiet strides.
You cough loudly at Daerin.

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

Elisabeth pauses, then asks Belator Durmstrang, 'I am free to go for the duration of the recess, your honor?'.

Aislynn approaches Aziza, saying softly, 'I apologize, Zi. I'm afraid I'll have to depart for now.'.

Saoirse looks at Saoirse.

A pretty, young female human is in perfect health.

Aziza nods at Aislynn.

Aislynn hugs Aziza.

Thaien hums a little tune.

Cabadath looks at Aislynn.

Belator Durmstrang says 'You may step outside, if you leave the grounds, you will not be able to get back in.'
Aislynn says to Aziza 'Beauty Bless you, friend.'

Hagor nods.

Aislynn looks at you.

Aziza says to Aislynn 'Travel safely.'

Hagor steps out for a moment.

Hagor walks south.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.

Elisabeth dips her chin. 'My gratitude.' she makes for Katheryn.
Cabadath mouths a 'Knowledge Guide.' , at Aislynn.

Yuli excuses herself briefly.

Yuli walks south.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.

You see Before a grand citadel.
a paladin of Helm, a paladin of Helm, Hagor and Yuli are nearby south from here.
a phantom steed, a ghostly watchdog and Garoon, a dark roan warhorse are not too far off south from here.

Thaien raises an eyebrow at you.

Aislynn looks to you briefly, saying in the same gentle tone, 'However this comes to pass, I hope you do not see it as the end for you. There is always a better path.'.

Hagor walks in from the south.

Aislynn walks south.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.

Elisabeth makes a slight curtsey for Katheryn when she reaches the knight, then steps closer to speak quietly...

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf whispers urgently to Daerin and tsks under his breath.

Harroghty walks south.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.

Katheryn gives Elisabeth a warm smile and inclines her head politely.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf nods once and retakes his position leaning against the back wall.

Ailyn Hmmmms...

Celric looks at Daerin.

Celric looks at Aziza.

Aziza smiles at Celric.

Daerin grins at Celric.

Saoirse appears to be thinking very deeply.

Katheryn leans towards Elisabeth, then at the words gives a quick nod of her head, reaching into her satchel and offering a decanter to Elisabeth saying, 'Lilian had asked to come, but I felt it a bit...unfitting for the moment. Perhaps when she is just a little bit older, she might join you in another situation.'.

Thaien adjusts his positioning in his seat, leaning forward towards you and Daerin.

The five minutes pass, the trial is called back together.

Celric stretches his arms out at his sides, and returns the smile to both sides.
Cabadath leans slightly towards Thaien.

Yuli walks in from the south.

Harroghty walks in from the south.

The set of black marble doors closes.
Skylar looks at Harroghty.

Thaien nods and pats you on the shoulder, leaning back into his seat.

Saoirse wrinkles her nose lightly.

Harroghty walks up beside Gwain and claps a hand upon Gwain's shoulder before letting it slip off.

Elisabeth gives Katheryn a grateful smile and clears her throat a few times between gulps of water. 'I shall hope she will.' she returns the decanter, then makes way back for the stands.

The bailiff says 'All to there places, the defence may begin their cross-examination.'

Elisabeth thanks Katheryn.

Aziza returns to her spot and stands at attention with her hands held together behind her back.

Hagor sits down and relaxes.
Hagor sits on a long wooden bench.

Elisabeth meant stand, because they're not in an arena.

Yuli returns to her seat.

Katheryn gives a quick nod of her head, returning to her seat.

Yuli sits down and relaxes.
Yuli sits on a long wooden bench.

Daerin nods as the group is regathered. He approaches Elisabeth and smiles. 'Miss Elisabeth, I can't help but wonder. Do you value the lives of your siblings?'.

Aziza holds her hand up, 'Objection. Relevance?'.

Belator Durmstrang asks Daerin 'Defence?'

Elisabeth opens her mouth but pauses and rubs at her nose again.

A blind, wretched-looking male human stiffens his shoulders as he listens to the battle between Aziza and Daerin.

Katheryn blinks in surprise at Daerin, then looks between those speeking before settling back on Elisabeth with tightly pursed lips.

Thaien rolls his eyes at Aziza.

Hostelner shifts a bit in his seat.

Daerin says to Aziza 'Quite relevant, Council. If you remember, my argument has much to do with her personal outlook.'

Saoirse crosses her arms, watching quietly.

Aziza says to Daerin 'I fail to see what her personal outlook has to do with the facts in this case.'

Celric glances to Daerin, blinking owlishly.

Daerin turns to Belator Durmstrang. 'Your ruling, Your honor?'.

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'Overruled, for now. Be sure to establish the connection to the factual events, and soon, defence.'

Daerin nods. 'The situation in question was one of great tension.'.

Aziza lets her hand fall behind herself again, 'Is that a question?'.

Daerin coughs loudly.

Daerin says 'Apologies. Bit slow.'

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'Council, please. Let him walk into the pit, dont push him in.'

Elisabeth folds her hands neatly in her lap, patiently waiting as she watches on.

Elisabeth coughs quietly.

Daerin says to Elisabeth 'I repeat my question, Miss Elisabeth. Please answer.'

Elisabeth asks Daerin 'Which?'

Daerin asks Elisabeth 'Do you value the lives of your siblings?'

Elisabeth nods once. 'I value all life, including those of my brother and sister.'.

A blind, wretched-looking male human blinks a few times as a sadness cloaks his closed eyes. He breathes out, the emotion traveling on his breath.

Daerin smiles and nods. 'That is good. When you attacked Cabadath, did you stop to think about his capabilities?'.

Katheryn's gaze narrows ever so slightly on Daerin at the question.

Elisabeth says to Daerin, 'I knew them well, but they were not relevant to my decision itself.'.

Daerin nods in response. 'I see. So you, when faced with a wizard capable of raising fifteen undead, did not stop to think that maybe your hostile action, would result in the death of your siblings?'.

Aziza raises her hand, 'Objection. Leading the witness.'.

Elisabeth pauses for the objection...

Elisabeth nods.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Sustained.'

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'Rephrase, defence.'

Daerin bows his head, rephrasing the question. 'What did you expect the result of your attack to be?'.

Hostelner looks at you.
Cabadath intently gazes upon Daerin and Elisabeth.

Elisabeth says to Daerin 'I had no expectation. My hope, as I said, was to dissuade him from killing another man, to force him to either surrender or leave the scene.'

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

Aziza scratches some notes down on a bit of parchment.

Daerin nods. 'A very noble response. What moved you to strike, unilaterally, while Vaeritas attempted to bargain for the release of the undead goblins?'.

Elisabeth recants, 'The defense of an innocent life, as is my duty.'.

Daerin asks Elisabeth 'And were your siblings not innocent?'

A blind, wretched-looking male human cups his face in his palm, a finger and thumb stretched like a bandits mask along his cheeks.

Elisabeth lifts her dark brows at Daerin. 'I certainly do not recall ever having read of demanding that undead be put down to be against any law.'.

Daerin says to Elisabeth 'Please answer the question.'

Aziza holds a hand up, 'Objection. Irrelevant and unclear?'.

Belator Durmstrang asks Daerin 'Relevance, defence?'

Harroghty looks at Belator Durmstrang.

Elisabeth looks at Daerin.
Daerin says 'Your honor, I believe that in her zeal, she struck without concern for her siblings life, forcing Cabadaths hand. By not considering other actions, she was negligent, and I intend to prove thus.'

Elisabeth's youthful features remain carefully neutral.

Aziza waves her hand lightly, 'Her actions do not excuse the actions of Cabadath, in any way, shape, or form. Nor could she have known or predicted how he would respond.'.

Aziza says 'I believe she has not been recognized by the court as a psychic, as it happens.'

A blind, wretched-looking male human says something in a tight and airy whisper, straining to keep quiet and still be heard as far as Celric sits on the other side of Hostelner.

Aziza says 'Your honour, the defense is on a hopeless fishing expedition.'

Elisabeth rests her chin in one hand.

Daerin smiles, remaining in order as he awaits the ruling.

Elisabeth looks at Skylar.

Celric glances across to A blind, wretched-looking male human, and leans slightly aside. He offers a small nod, and returns in quiet murmur.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Ovrruled. You may answer the question. However, you are at the end of the lee-way defence. And no commentary required council.'

Daerin bows before Belator Durmstrang.

Hostelner bobs his head a bit as he listens to A blind, wretched-looking male human.

A blind, wretched-looking male human nods his head conclusively, finding agreement.

Daerin looks to Elisabeth. 'Your answer, Miss Elisabeth?'.

Elisabeth tells Daerin, 'Vaeritas, whose life was in jeopardy, was at that moment an innocent man faced with death.'.
Cabadath glances momentarily between the three tribunes, returning then to gaze at Elisabeth.

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'You have her answer defence, prove her negligence or move on.'

Daerin nods to Belator Durmstrang.

Daerin nods. 'No further questions, your honor.'.

Thaien stares at Daerin.

Hagor disappears into the void.

Elisabeth looks to Belator Durmstrang.

Skylar stares at the sky.

Belator Durmstrang says to Elisabeth 'You may step down.'

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'Your witness.'

Elisabeth dips her chin curtly before Belator Durmstrang, then steps away to regain her seat beside Isabelle.
Ailyn hmms softly.

Daerin says 'I'd like to call Cabadath to the stand.'
Your pose is reset to normal.

Cabadath stands in a orderly manner, finding his way to the stand, he sits down.
Other players will see your pose as 'Cabadath is sitting in the witness stand.'.

Gwain looks at you.

You no longer see in the dark.

Daerin nods. 'Master Cabadath, tell me. When faced with the children in question, how did they approach you?'.
You nod.

Celric nods faintly, his agreement with Hostelner.

Daerin coughs loudly.

Elisabeth snickers with Aziza.

Hagor turns quite pale and begins to shiver uncontrollably!

Daerin coughs loudly.

A blind, wretched-looking male human I will jump through this fourth wall and sneak attack you. Shh.

Aziza holds a leather binder of parchment in her right hand.

Aziza stops using a leather binder of parchment.

Aziza holds a piece of parchment in her right hand.

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf looks at Hagor.

Aziza gets a quill from a large bag with a newspaper pattern.

Belator Durmstrang says to you 'Answer the question.'

Aziza writes something on a piece of parchment.

Aziza stops using a piece of parchment titled: Questions.

Aziza gives a piece of parchment titled: Questions to Skylar.

Daerin shrugs and moves on.

Cabadath breathes in slowly, then breathes out.

Elisabeth looks at you.

Celric looks at you.

A ghostly watchdog stops following you.

Isabelle clings to Elisabeth's hand with both of her own.

Elisabeth gives Isabelle's hand a gentle squeeze, casting a brief, reassuring smile toward Isabelle.
Cabadath nods at Daerin, 'I swear to tell the truth and only the truth, and acknowledge being liable to damnation of my soul under the eye of my Lord Oghma.' , he then continues, answering the question, 'I was conducting experimental research on the lower hallways of the Howling Peaks, when the three Marshall children approached and correctly inferred the undead were mine, they immediatly moved to demanding that i gave up my test subjects, and that i put ' them down."

Daerin nods at you. 'Were the trio openly hostile?'.
Cabadath ponders the question for a moment, then nods, 'In demanding i relinquish the test subjects, they implied not hesitating in using force to stop my experiment.'.

Daerin nods in response. 'At any point, did you threaten their lives directly?'.

Thaien coughs quietly and clears his throat.

Aziza raises a hand lightly, 'The court is not interested in Cabadath's interpretations of implications.'.

Belator Durmstrang asks Aziza 'Is that an objection?'

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf looks at Aziza.

Aziza nods, 'Ah, yes, yes it is.'.
Cabadath glances between Daerin and Aziza and then at Belator Durmstrang.

Gwain looks at Belator Durmstrang.

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'Sustained, your witness should answer questions with what he inferred, not what was implied.'

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'Continue.'

A blind, wretched-looking male human blinks several times but remains quiet as a puzzled expression awash on his face.

Daerin nods at Belator Durmstrang, then asks once more. 'When approached by the three adventurers, did you feel your life was in danger?'.

Cabadath nods at Belator Durmstrang then at Daerin, 'They voiced their concern over the value of the test subjects, and voiced their desire to use force if necessary, to stop the experiment, so yes, i felt my life was in danger.'.

Daerin nods. 'And did you give the three the opportunity to leave without conflict?'.

Cabadath nods at Daerin, 'I did.'.

Aziza scratches down a few more notes in her binder.

Aziza holds a leather binder of parchment in her right hand.

Daerin asks 'And did they take you up on that opportunity?'

Thaien hums to himself and nods a few times.
Cabadath shakes his head at Daerin, 'They did not.'.

Daerin nods. 'What did they do?'.

Elisabeth looks at you.

Celric looks at Elisabeth.

Elisabeth looks at Celric.

Daerin looks at Elisabeth.

Celric offers Elisabeth a brief nod as their eyes meet, before his attention returns again to you.

Cabadath ponders the question for a moment, then nods, 'At first, the attempt to solve the dispute with the minimal amount of bloodshed possible was attempted by me, by not posing a hostile threat to them, but they would not leave without the certainty that the experiment was ruined, so, Master Vaeritas offere' d himself in exchange, but he was interrupted by her sister, in attacking me, at that time, the other two did not, understandably, allow their sister to fight alone, and joined her on the onslaught, the test subjects grew agittated, and joined too. I defended myself, and regretfully, ended their lives."

Elisabeth nods at Celric.

Thaien nods at you.

Daerin nods. 'Do you regret the loss of life?'.

Hostelner says 'I would clarification on a subject, please.'

Celric nods his head in agreement with Hostelner.
Cabadath frowns a bit, 'I do. Un--'.
Cabadath gazes at Hostelner.
Katheryn glances at Elisabeth.

Belator Durmstrang asks Hostelner 'Yes?'

A blind, wretched-looking male human slowly nods his head, looking to Hostelner with some hope in his cloudy eyes.

Elisabeth murmurs briefly aside to Katheryn, then gently ahems and looks forward once more.

Elisabeth smiles at Ailyn.

Hostelner says 'What does experimenting with undead entail? And how many are needed for such experimentation? Excuse me as necromancy is out of my sphere.'

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

Aziza keeps quiet as she glances between Daerin and Hostelner.

Daerin turns to Belator Durmstrang. 'Who should answer the question, your honor?'.

Katheryn considers Elisabeth a short moment before reaching out and giving Elisabeth's arm a brief, gentle squeeze before her gaze shifts to you with a stern expression.

Ailyn hmms softly.

Belator Durmstrang asks Hostelner 'Do you have a more specific question of clarification?'

Ailyn's hands pulsate and shimmer with soft light.

Hostelner says 'What what the experiment exactly'

Belator Durmstrang nods.

Belator Durmstrang asks you 'As succinctly as possible, what was the experiment?'
Cabadath nods and ponders for a moment before answering.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Rather you were experiementing with undead, what were you doing.'

A graceful, saturnine male .
You say 'The extent to which the control of undead mind can be stretched to, in other words, how well one can spread and maneuver dark energy to their whim, which requires increasingly larger amounts of undead.'

Hostelner nods and says briefly 'Thank you.'.

Celric holds up a hand and speaks up, 'If I might take this moment to ask clarification from the defence, as well?'.

Belator Durmstrang nods.

Gwain holds back laughter behind his hand, pounding on his thigh for a few moments before calming down.

Belator Durmstrang says to Celric 'You may, be specific.'

Elisabeth tilts her head with a blank look given toward you.

Ailyn pats Gwain on his back.

Gwain thanks Ailyn.

Thaien Hmmmms...

Thaien nods at Daerin.

Celric nods to Belator Durmstrang, and glances to Daerin, 'The creation of the undead was touched on briefly. For the record, the defence means that the defendent, himself, was responsible for -animating- these corpses?'.

Aziza scratches a few more notes down in her binder.

Daerin nods at Celric. 'That is correct.'.

Belator Durmstrang nods.

Celric purses his lips, and gives only a small nod to Daerin, 'Thank you.'.

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'Carry on.'

Daerin nods at Belator Durmstrang.

Skylar's lips curl faintly, her teeth showing only a moment before the expression fades.

Daerin asks you 'During the course of your interaction with the trio, who initiated the conversation about the deal regarding the exchange of Vaeritas' life for that of releasing the undead?'

Cabadath nods at Daerin, 'If you're asking who started the deal, Vaeritas.'.

Daerin nods at you.

Daerin asks you 'To clarify, he offered his life, unbidden?'
Cabadath nods at Daerin, 'He offered agency over his life, rather.'.

Aziza holds her hand up, 'Objection. Relevance?'.

Cabadath glacnes at Aziza then back at Daerin.

Belator Durmstrang looks at Daerin questioningly.

Aziza adds, 'Also, consent cannot be given for murder. It is only the domain of the gods to give and take life.'.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf coughs into his hand, and the cough sounds oddly like the word, 'Commentary.'.

Daerin nods, conceding the point. 'I withdraw the question.'.

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'One objection at a time.'

The bailiff points at A graceful, saturnine male halfelf, raising a single finger of warning.

Hostelner looks at A graceful, saturnine male halfelf.

Daerin asks you 'Once Vaeritas offered his life and you accepted, what happened next?'

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'You must answer the first objeciton.'

Daerin says to Belator Durmstrang 'I withdrew my question, your honor.'

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'Very well. Procede.'

Daerin asks you 'Once Vaeritas offered his life and you accepted, what happened next?'
Cabadath shakes his head at Daerin, 'We were discussing the terms of the exchange, when Elisabeth attacked me.'.

Daerin nods. 'And how did you respond to that attack?'.

Hostelner laces his fingers and sets them in his lap.
You say 'I defended myself, seeing a onslaught of three adventurers on myself, i acted to stop them.'

Elisabeth tilts her head further still, loose onyx locks falling a bit into her face.

Daerin nods in response. 'No further questions, your honor.'.

Re: The trial of Cabadath.

Post by Rakthar » Wed Dec 13, 2017 6:40 am

[Part 2 of the trial's log, BIG]
A blind, wretched-looking male human blinks again, finally raising his voice. 'My abject apologies. Please clarify for me. Did the accuser attack the undead creatures first or the defendant?'.
Cabadath nods at A blind, wretched-looking male human, 'Myself.'.

Daerin says to A blind, wretched-looking male human 'The accuser attacked the defendant.'

A blind, wretched-looking male human squints his face, nodding his head as he says 'I understand.'.

Aziza closes her binder and sets her hand on it before standing again, with a nod towards Daerin.

Daerin sits down and relaxes.

Belator Durmstrang listens carefully, then nods, 'You may go council, then a short recess.'.

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

Aziza addresses Belator Durmstrang, 'With your permissions, judge, I'd like to treat Cabadath as a hostile witness.'.

Daerin says 'Objection'
You raise an eyebrow at her.

Daerin says 'There is no evidence that he is hostile, he has complied completely with these proceedings.'

Aziza holds a hand up, 'There is evidence the witness has lied, and his nature as the defendant puts him at odds with these proceedings.'.
Cabadath narrows his gaze at Aziza.

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'Give evidence of this lie, and you may treat him so. Otherwise I am inclined to agree with the defence.'

Daerin stares at Aziza for a moment, then looks to Belator Durmstrang.

Ailyn coughs quietly into one hand, returning to her normal resting position.
Thaien frowns at Aziza.

Skylar's eyes narrow at you as your expression towards Aziza changes.

A blind, wretched-looking male human turns to look at Aziza with piqued eyebrows.

Aziza says to Belator Durmstrang 'We heard evidence from Squire Elisabeth, of Tyr, that the defendant initiated combat with her brother and sister using magic. The defendant, however, claims that it was they who initiated combat with him, three on one. Given their respective positions, as a squire of the god of law, and an arch-necromancer, I'm inclined to believe Squire Elisabeth.'

Daerin says 'Objection, the Squire Elisabeth herself admitted to attacking first.'

Thaien coughs quietly and shakes his head, giving Aziza an offended look.

Elisabeth nods at Daerin.

Belator Durmstrang says to you 'Please clarify 'seeing a onslaught of three adventurers on myself, i acted to stop them''

Aziza says 'Yes, she admitted to attacking. She claimed, however, that it was only herself who attacked, not either of her siblings.'

Katheryn shakes her head slowly.
Cabadath nods at Belator Durmstrang, 'Elisabeth attacked first, but, being their brother and sister, they would not conceivably allow her to fight alone, so, they joined her on the agression initiated by her.'.

Thaien nods.

Elisabeth smirks.

Aziza raises her brow, 'In other words, you are suggesting that Squire Elisabeth has lied in her testimony?'.

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'Please hold council.'

Belator Durmstrang says to you 'Mister Cabadath, you have been reasonable so far. Yet these answer are vaguely worded.'

Daerin says 'I move that the council be asked to speak within the bounds of this court of law, and not badger my witness.'

Katheryn leans towards Elisabeth and murmurs something quietly.

Elisabeth listens carefully to Katheryn.
Cabadath ponders for a moment, nodding at Belator Durmstrang, 'Apologies, Justice, i meant not to cloud the truth, Elisabeth striked first, and her siblings followed close in line, i inferred that they could not act otherwise.'.

Katheryn gives Elisabeth's knee a light pat before folding her hands neatly before herself.

Aziza glances at Belator Durmstrang.

Aziza holds her tongue as she glances between Belator Durmstrang and you.

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'She has been so instructed.'

Daerin nods, settling down.

Elisabeth snorts very quietly at Katheryn, giving her a 'Yeah right' look though accompanied with the faintest of smiles.

Katheryn gives Elisabeth a faint, brief smile in turn before her attention refocuses on the proceedings.

Daerin says 'Your honor, it is obvious here that my fellow council is emotionally compromised in this case, and request that she be recused.'

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'I find opposed testimony, but this does not prove one over the other. Procede with your questions. He is not hostile, vague, but not hostile.'

Elisabeth raises an eyebrow.

Skylar stares at the sky.

Aziza raises both brows lightly, '.. What?'.

Celric reaches one hand up, lightly mussing his hair as he listens to the back-and-forth. He blinks, then, focusing on Daerin.

Ailyn rubs her brow.

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'Prove his lie council, otherwise it is he said/she said. Neither is proof in and of itself.'

Aziza nods towards Belator Durmstrang, 'I'll do that with subsequent witnesses. For now, I am content to move on from this.'.
Cabadath seems genuinely offended by Aziza.

A blind, wretched-looking male human says with a very genuine shame in his tone, 'Your honor. Is the testimony of Vaeritas given previously the same as this he said she said?'.
You nod at him.

Daerin nods at you.

A blind, wretched-looking male human says 'I do not question the honor of the squire. I only wish to hear from Vaeritas.'

Belator Durmstrang says to A blind, wretched-looking male human 'To the first, the witnesses at present have conflicting orders of events.'

Belator Durmstrang says to A blind, wretched-looking male human 'To the second, you will judge on those witnesses and evidence they present. That is all.'

A blind, wretched-looking male human nods his head, saying 'Yes, your honor. That is all.'.

Belator Durmstrang motions to the bailiff.

The bailiff clacks the staff on the ground, 'Five minute recess.'.

Celric releases a quietly audible sigh.

Aziza nods at Belator Durmstrang.

The set of black marble doors opens.

Daerin lets out a long breath.

Hostelner walks south.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf walks south.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.
You see Before a grand citadel.
a paladin of Helm, a paladin of Helm, Celric and A graceful, saturnine male halfelf are nearby south from here.
a phantom steed, a ghostly watchdog, Garoon, a dark roan warhorse and Hostelner are not too far off south from here.
Skylar takes a fresh lemon from a huge pillowcase.

Aziza scratches down some hasty notes in her binder.

Harroghty walks south.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.

Daerin shrugs in response to you.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf walks in from the south.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf walks south.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.
Your pose is reset to normal.

Daerin asks 'Your honor, is Cabadath excused from the stand when we reconvene?'

Elisabeth rises momentarily and smoothes her robes after giving a small stretch of her legs.

Thaien Hmmmms...

Skylar blinks.

Skylar stares at Daerin.

Elisabeth glances at Daerin.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf walks in from the south.

Aziza says 'I haven't had a chance to cross-examine him yet.'
Skylar squints a bit as she mutters, 'He hasn't been cross-examined.'.

Daerin says 'I believe opposing council said, and I quote, "For now I am content to move on from this."'

Aziza says to Daerin 'This one particular matter, Sir.'

Daerin nods at Aziza.

Elisabeth says to Daerin 'From the issue of hostility'

Elisabeth rubs her nose.

Daerin says to Aziza 'Conceded.'

Celric walks in from the south.

Elisabeth retakes her seat after another small stretch, casting a brief look at Katheryn.
Cabadath moves off of the stand to stretch his legs, grasping his symbol and muttering a soft prayer.

Ailyn sighs softly, fingers tapping upon her staff.

Celric wipes a towel down one side of his face, and drops it quickly into his bag as he reenters, glancing over the room.

Elisabeth looks at Isabelle.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf slips over to you and snags his shoulder to whisper in his ear.

Isabelle gives Elisabeth a weak smile and a small shake of the head.

Elisabeth glances at A graceful, saturnine male halfelf.

Isabelle stops using a thin chain holding a bauble containing ruby stag antlers.

Cabadath blinks a bit in surprise but leans in to hear what A graceful, saturnine male halfelf has to say.

Thaien sighs and pats Daerin on the shoulder.

Hostelner saunters back in and makes his way to Celric 'You would not happen to have a bite to eat on you, hmm?'.

Daerin nods.

Elisabeth nods at Isabelle once, retaking Isabelle's hand comfortingly.

A graceful, saturnine male halfelf greets you.
They aren't here.

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

Celric reaches for a small container in his bag, and pours a hot fluid into the small accompanying cup. He presses this into Hostelner's hands, 'Just have this. We could be here a while longer.'.

Celric winks at Hostelner.

Belator Durmstrang takes his position once more.
Cabadath glances at Liliel for a few moments, then nods at him, brows a bit arched.
Hostelner smiles brightly at Celric 'Oh wonderful, exactly what I needed'.

The set of black marble doors closes.

Hostelner quickly glugs the cup.
You nod.
Cabadath find his place at the stand.
Other players will see your pose as 'Cabadath is sitting at the witness stand.'.
Katheryn takes a pizza from a small wicker basket.

Celric glances over to Belator Durmstrang, and steps quickly back to position himself, with a deep breath.

Isabelle smiles at Katheryn.

Elisabeth smiles at Katheryn.
Hostelner takes his place next to A blind, wretched-looking male human and Celric.

Hostelner sits and relaxes.

Katheryn gives Isabelle a warm smile.

Belator Durmstrang says 'The prosecution may bring it's next witness, if all will take their positions.'

Elisabeth scarfs it down quickly.

Elisabeth blinks.

Elisabeth looks at Belator Durmstrang.

Aziza gestures towards you, 'I would prefer to cross-examine this witness first.'.
Skylar stares at Belator Durmstrang.
Cabadath nods at Belator Durmstrang, almost stepping out of the stand, as Aziza speak, he pauses and waits for a decision.

Belator Durmstrang asks Aziza 'When you said move on, you mean from that point?'

Aziza says to Belator Durmstrang 'Yes. I have questions for this witness.'

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'Very well, then we shall resume where we were.'

Elisabeth nods.
Cabadath finds a the seat again.
Other players see your pose as 'Cabadath is sitting at the witness stand.'.

Aziza nods, 'Allow me to be brief. Cabadath, to clarify, have you confessed in your own words during the defense's examination to creating undead servants?'.
Cabadath nods at Aziza, 'Test subjects that were, also, created by means of necromancy.'.

Aziza nods, 'And further allow me to clarify, it is your testimony that you were so rattled by the attack of Squire Elisabeth that you were forced to use deadly force, the you were afraid for your life?'.
You say 'They posed a mortal threat, yes.'

A blind, wretched-looking male human bends his neck as his hand comes up to his jaw in thought. He stares straightforward, entranced in a strand of reasoning a moment before his eyes rest.

Aziza purses her lips as she casts a glance towards the tribues before addressing you, 'How good at fighting would you say you are, Cabadath?'.

Ailyn coughs lightly into one hand, the hand moving to rub her throat a moment after.
Cabadath bobs his head, then nods at Aziza, 'Adventurers? Not very good.'.

Hostelner looks at Isabelle.

Aziza raises a brow lightly, 'That so. Is it not true that you won a tournament of polymorphing against some of the most talented, dangerous, and skillful mages in the realms? A tournament of combat against some of the strongest adventurers, and not mere children.'.

Belator Durmstrang blinks and looks to you.
Cabadath nods at Aziza, 'The two are different matters, may i explain why?'.

Aziza shakes her head, 'No, you may not.'.

Belator Durmstrang looks over at Daerin.

Ailyn hmms softly.

Daerin says 'Objection. An assault by three adventurers and a organized combat are two very different things.'

Aziza continues, 'This arrangement you made with Vaeritas, did you agree to destroy your undead before or after you took his life?'.

Aziza says to Daerin 'That sounds like a matter for your closing statement.'

Belator Durmstrang looks between Aziza and Daerin.
Cabadath glances between Aziza, Daerin and Belator Durmstrang.

Daerin says to Aziza 'I was in that tournament, and his victory was not by his own skill, but by pure luck.'

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'Please rephrase the question.'

Ailyn Hmmmms...

Elisabeth purses her lips tightly, regarding Daerin with a keen gaze.
Aziza says to Daerin 'You're not testifying, counselor.'

Daerin coughs loudly.

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'Commentary cuts both ways.'

Aziza says to Daerin 'And even if you were, your guesses are not evidence.'

Celric leans aside, murmuring softly to A blind, wretched-looking male human and Hostelner.

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'Both of you.'

Aziza coughs quietly, 'Allow me to rephrase. Cabadath. The agreement you made with Vaeritas, to trade his life for the destruction of your undead slaves. Was his life to be taken before the destruction of the undead, or after?'.

Katheryn shakes her head slowly.

Belator Durmstrang asks Aziza 'You withdraw the tournament question?'

Aziza coughs, 'I did not. Was there something unclear about the question?'.

Ailyn's hands pulsate and shimmer with soft light.

Thaien coughs quietly and clears his throat.

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'I missed the answer if he gave it.'

Belator Durmstrang says 'For clarification.'

Belator Durmstrang asks you 'You won the tournament?'

Aziza says to you 'Yes or no will suffice, sir.'
Cabadath nods at Belator Durmstrang, 'I did win the tournament, but that does not prove i'm a strong fighter.'.

Elisabeth stares at the sky.

Belator Durmstrang says to you 'Only the question of winning is being asked.'
You nod at him.

Ailyn hmms softly.

Aziza nods.

Skylar places her face in her palm.

Katheryn pats gently at Elisabeth's knee before refolding her hands neatly in front of herself.

Belator Durmstrang asks Daerin 'You find no objection in the describing of wizards within the tournament?'

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'Yay or nay.'

Daerin says to Belator Durmstrang 'I would not object if the conditions of the victory were also discussed.'

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'The council will ask as she chooses.'

Skylar Hmmmms...

Daerin nods. 'Then... I cannot object.'.

Hostelner leans over to Celric and strokes his chin as he listens, eventually bobbing his head in understanding.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Only on these clarififed points then are the questions answered. Please continue counci'

Aziza folds her hands behind her back, 'Then, Cabadath. The agreement you made with Vaeritas, was it to take his life before or after the destruction of your undead slaves?'.

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.
Cabadath ponders a bit, then nods, 'He would deliver agency over his life after i destroyed the undead. Not necessarily i was to kill him, but i was to receive the ability to choose if he was to live or die, and if to die, how.'.

Aziza nods, 'So, would you say that your taking his life before the undead were destroyed negated any twisted contract you might have had with him? Not that such a contract would be honoured in this court.'.

Daerin says 'Objection, leading the witness.'

A blind, wretched-looking male human knits his brow with a wince like he had been stung. He nods slowly aside to Hostelner as his emotions empty again.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Sustained. Rephrase or withdraw.'

Your shimmering suit of armour fades away.

Aziza holds her hands up, 'I'll withdraw. I have only one more question for this witness.'.

Aziza turns towards the tribune as she asks the question, 'Do you suppose that Vaeritas would have agreed to give his life over to you in exchange for the destruction of your undead slaves if he thought that he and his siblings were any sort of serious threat to you?'.

Daerin exclaims 'Objection, again, leading the witness!'

Aziza holds her hands up concedingly, 'Withdrawn again. No further questions for this witness.'.

Hostelner says 'I would clarification, if I may'

Elisabeth looks at Hostelner.

Hostelner coughs 'Like clarification'.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Speak'

Hostelner asks 'In Elisabeth's testimony, did she say that she interrupted the accord before any agreement could be made?'
Cabadath glances between Hostelner and Elisabeth.

Belator Durmstrang asks Aziza 'What say you, defence?'

Daerin looks at Belator Durmstrang and clears his throat.

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'Defence rather.'

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'And council as well.'

Daerin speaks up. 'Unless my esteemed council has objections to the contrary, then yes, she did interrupt the accord before a deal could be made.'.

Daerin clears his throat loudly.

Daerin says 'My esteemed opposing council'

Belator Durmstrang nods.

Daerin nods at Aziza.

Aziza raises her brow lightly, 'Then, there was no arrangement, and the defendant could not have by any metric reasonably believed that Vaeritas had given his life over.'.

Daerin nods at Aziza.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Disregard the second of the statement.'

Belator Durmstrang says 'Only the first goes to answering the clarification.'

Hostelner nods and says 'Thank you'.

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'Your witness.'

Aziza says to Belator Durmstrang 'I have no further questions for this witness.'
Cabadath moves out of the stand and finds his spot near Daerin again.

Belator Durmstrang says 'If there is nothing further, then it is to the prosecution's next witness.'
Other players will see your pose as 'Cabadath is sitting next to Daerin, tenderly grasping his symbol.'.

Aziza tucks her hands behind her back as she glances towards Skylar, 'I would call Lady Skylar to the stand.'.

Daerin blinks.

Celric glances at Skylar.
Other players will see your pose as 'Cabadath is tenderly grasping his symbol, sitting next to Daerin.'.
Ailyn Hmmmms...

Katheryn gives Skylar a faint smile as her name is called and watches her silently.

Belator Durmstrang asks Daerin 'Yes?'
Cabadath glances between Skylar and Aziza.

Daerin says 'Objection. Lady Skylar was not witness to the incidents in question.'

Elisabeth looks toward Skylar with some interest given to show upon her youthful features.

Skylar stands and steps forward to the stand, turning as she reaches it to look towards Daerin, then Aziza and Belator Durmstrang.

Aziza asks Daerin 'She's being called to testify about the defendant's inclination towards necromancy, and nothing else. Unless he wishes to plead guilty to that and remove all need?'

Daerin says to Aziza 'He's already admitted to animating the dead.'
Cabadath quietly quirks a brow at Aziza.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Overruled. Either council may bring witnesses to bring testimony on aspects bearing on the case.'

Skylar gives a gentle nod.

Daerin nods and bobs his head, sitting once more.

Aziza levels a meaningful look over towards the tribune before returning her attention towards Skylar, gesturing towards the stand.

Aziza asks Skylar 'Do you swear by the god of the sunlight to tell the truth today?'

Celric offers a small nod to Aziza, fixing his gaze on Skylar with a short-lived smile.

Skylar touches her hand to her breast as she answers solemnly, 'I do, by our beloved Morning Lord, swear to tell the truth.'.

Elisabeth looks at Skylar.

Hostelner looks at Skylar.

Aziza nods, 'Have you ever seen Cabadath in the company of his undead slaves?'.

Skylar gives a firm nod as she answers, 'Yes, animated corpses of sentient creatures all.'.

A blind, wretched-looking male human lifts his eyes to the sound of Skylar.

Skylar greets you.
You greet everybody in the room.
Aziza nods, 'How many undead were there under his control?'.

Daerin exclaims 'Objection! The witness did not see the undead in question! She cannot speak in fact!'

Elisabeth raises an eyebrow.

Aziza says to Daerin 'She certainly did see the undead he had with him when she saw him with undead, which was an unrelated instance to the encounter he had with the triplets.'

Skylar glances skywards, then towards Daerin with one eye squinting just a bit more than the other.

Daerin asks 'Unless my opposing council would be so kind as to specify which incedent she is speaking to?'

Daerin asks Aziza 'The SPECIFIC instance?'

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Overruled, it does establish his use of necromancy, the purpose of her testimony.'

Aziza asks Daerin 'The witness claimed to have seen undead with Cabadath. That is the specific instance. Unless you are suggesting that a paladin of Lathander is lying?'

Daerin nods.

Elisabeth leans back some in her seet, brushing a lock of hair from her eyes ere folding her hands together in her lap once more.

A blind, wretched-looking male human nods a few times in agreement with Belator Durmstrang.

Elisabeth frowns at what Daerin did.

Celric presses one hand to his forehead.

Daerin says to Aziza 'No, never. Miss Skylar is a pillar of honesty. My apologies for my outburst.'

Daerin bows deeply.
Cabadath presses his lips ever so slightly as he gazes at Aziza and Skylar.

Daerin coughs loudly.

Thaien coughs quietly and clears his throat.

Daerin says 'Dame.'

Daerin oddly tells himself to be quiet.

Ailyn's silver eyes glance downwards, a hand touching against the staff resting in her lap momentarily.

Katheryn watches you with a faint smile before her attentions turn back to Aziza and Skylar.

Skylar answers as she hears the word overruled, 'He had eight undead in his thrall.'.

Aziza nods, 'Do you know where the undead creatures he had enslaved had come from?'.

Belator Durmstrang looks to Skylar.

Skylar cants her head slightly to either side, then she replies, 'I don't know their origin, only that they were under his thrall. I've seen their likes patrol a region not far south and east of the settlement called Golden Oaks.'.

Ailyn hmms softly, silver eyes looking between Skylar and Aziza.

Aziza gives a short nod, 'And are you familiar with any incidents that occured around the same time as you saw Cabadath with these undead which involved any other undead from around the same region, south and east of Golden Oaks?'.

Celric cants his head aside as he listens.

Skylar nods firmly and answers, 'I am. Trolls from the same reason were set upon adventurers within the city of Waterdeep, myself among them. Scrying from scene showed him to be very close to the city immediately after the attack was repelled.'.

Yuli has lost her link.

Skylar says 'Region, not reason.'
Cabadath shakes his head slowly, tenderly grasping his symbol.

Daerin pats you on your back.

Yuli has reconnected.

Aziza gives a short nod, 'Thank-you, Lady Skylar.' She addresses Belator Durmstrang, 'No further questions for this witness.'.

Ailyn hmms softly.

Skylar nods at this, her light blue eyes flitting next to Daerin and you.

Thaien raises an eyebrow.

Belator Durmstrang looks to Daerin, 'Your cross examination or next witness, defence.'.

Elisabeth looks at Daerin.

Hostelner says 'Clarification, please'

Skylar looks to Hostelner, head canting towards a side.

You are a mite peckish.

Daerin pauses, then nods to Hostelner, awaiting his question.

Belator Durmstrang asks Hostelner 'Yes?'

Hostelner says 'Was Cabadath scryed or was someone else scryed and he was seen in the area.'

Elisabeth looks at A blind, wretched-looking male human.

Belator Durmstrang says to Skylar 'You may answer.'

Ailyn Hmmmms...

Skylar nods at Belator Durmstrang's prompting, then answers Hostelner plainly, 'Cabadath was scryed.'.

Hostelner nods and says 'Thank you'.

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'Procede.'

Skylar gestures lightly as she adds, perhaps a bit belatedly, 'In the company of yet more undead at that.'.

Skylar falls silent then to look back towards Daerin expectantly.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Disregard'

Daerin nods as the question is asked. 'Dame Skylar, are you capable of scrying someone?'.

Elisabeth's frown only holds at Skylar's latter words, and she gives a small shake of her head.

Skylar shakes her head at Daerin as she replies in answer, 'I am not, Uncle Wonko.'.

Daerin nods.

Daerin says to Skylar 'I understand. Then the undead in the city were not in the company of Cabadath directly?"'

Skylar shakes her head, then answers in turn, 'Not at the time of the attack.'.

Isabelle has lost her link.
Isabelle has reconnected, kicking off old link.

Daerin nods. 'Very good. Then, can you for certain, confirm that it was cabadath orchestrating the attacks?'.

Elisabeth smiles at Isabelle.

Skylar answers, 'Perhaps not with absolute certainty, though perhaps beyond a reasonable doubt.' she rubs at her nose thoughtful, then answers more plainly, 'I cannot confirm for certain.'.

Celric holds up a hand, 'If I may, your honour?'.

Daerin says to Belator Durmstrang 'I would like to address the court on this matter, your honor, if it pleases you. I am a mage myself, and am educated in these practices."'

Daerin holds himself, then nods at Celric.

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'Hold.'

Belator Durmstrang nods.

Celric says 'To both councils, I would ask clarification.'

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

Celric asks 'What relevance does this new grievance against the city of Waterdeep have on any of the charges brought against the defendent?'

Belator Durmstrang looks to Aziza first.

Daerin nods to Aziza, eyes curious.

Aziza says 'It is the belief of the people that Cabadath is not only engaging in necromancy, but that he is doing so on a scale that is increasingly reckless and dangerous. We don't believe he is responsible for the attack on Waterdeep directly, but we do believe that the undead which he is gathering in increasingly large number are escaping his control and running amock.'
You snort.

Daerin glares at you.

Skylar looks from Aziza back towards you.

Katheryn looks at you.

Skylar's blue eyes narrow faintly as she regards you in silence.

Hagor is devoured by a portable hole.

Belator Durmstrang says to Celric 'This does appear to reflect on the nature of his necromancy. Though that incident itself is not here for judgement.'

Aziza folds her arms lightly, 'In any event, the evidence is for you, the tribune, to chew over. This is simply providing a clearer picture of the cirumstances surrounding Cabadath's recent criminal behaviour.'.

Aziza nods at Belator Durmstrang.

Belator Durmstrang asks Celric 'Is that sufficient?'

Celric nods to Belator Durmstrang, 'Yes, your honour.' he bows his head to Aziza, 'Thank you.'.

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'Continue.'

.

Elisabeth glances at Daerin.

Belator Durmstrang raises an eyebrow.

Ailyn glances at Daerin.

Elisabeth glances at the bailiff.

Skylar lifts her eyes back to Daerin, squinting them a bit as Daerin lifts the gem- distaste touching her pinkish lips into a rare frown.

A blind, wretched-looking male human sets his chin to his fist as he considers the facts. He winces slightly at the sudden tension in the air.

Aziza raises her brows faintly at Daerin's onyx, staring at him and it expectantly.
Cabadath cants his head at Daerin.
Celric blinks once, focusing on the stone Daerin produces. He strokes his chin, and murmurs aside to A blind, wretched-looking male human.

Elisabeth looks again toward Daerin, figure having straightened a touch in its seat.

You are hungry.
You could use a sip of something refreshing.

A blind, wretched-looking male human makes a silent o with his mouth as he nods with a tilt of his head towards Celric.

Daerin holds up a black onyx gem. 'Do you know what this gem might be used for, Dame Skylar?'.

Celric pats A blind, wretched-looking male human lightly on the shoulder, and refocuses his attention on Daerin and Skylar.

Skylar gives a clipped nod. Then clears her throat behind a hand before answering audibly, 'Yes. Some of its functions.'.

Daerin nods.

Daerin asks 'Then could it be possible that there were other spellcasters animating the dead that day?'

Hagor has returned to this reality.
.

Daerin adds, 'As I myself am capable of, I would add.'.

Daerin puts a black onyx gem in a silvery spell pouch decorated with luck gems.

Elisabeth rubs at her nose.

Aziza holds a hand up, 'I object.'.

Skylar lifts her chin slightly, her voice almost lifted to answer but she stills, then looks to Aziza and Belator Durmstrang.

Aziza says 'Dame Skylar has no way of knowing what other necroamncers may have been doing or where.'

Ailyn rubs her brow, shaking her head.

Daerin says to Aziza 'Neither does anyone else.'

Thaien smirks.

Daerin coughs loudly.

Daerin says 'Pardon.'

Aziza adds, pointedly, to Daerin, 'During the precise moment the defendant was spotted in the area the undead were raised from.'.

.

Aziza says 'In the company of undead raised from that area, and therefore engaging in necromancy in that area.'

Daerin waits for Belator Durmstrang's ruling before responding.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Overruled. The witness may answer, it does not require an expert opinion to acknowledge the possibility.'

Ailyn's hands pulsate and shimmer with soft light.

Skylar lifts her chin slightly and replies, 'Those stones are a controlled substance in many places, not freely accessible and rarely in quantities easy to aquire. It is possible that another necromancer could have been responsible-' she lifts a slender hand to his breast, 'But in my opinion, as one tasked with rooting out and opposing necromancy as a facet of my profession and faith, I think it unlikely they came from another- but not impossible.'.

Skylar says to Daerin 'There may have been another necromancer lingering in those swamps.'

Daerin says 'Yes or no, if you please, Dame Skylar.'

Belator Durmstrang says 'She acknowledge the possibility you asked, move on defence.'

Daerin nods in response. 'Apologies.' He nods. 'No further questions.'.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Then if that is all, your next witness defence.'

A blind, wretched-looking male human bows his head. 'I would like to ask something regarding the matter of the plaintiff loving her siblings' he says in a resonant bass.

Daerin Hmmmms...

Belator Durmstrang says to A blind, wretched-looking male human 'That does not sound like a clarification.'
Elisabeth lifts a dark brow slightly, looking toward A blind, wretched-looking male human.
Skylar lifts to her feet, then gives a slight bow to the justice and tribune, then another to defence and prosecution, then she steps past into the stands to regain her seat.

Belator Durmstrang asks A blind, wretched-looking male human 'What exactly would you ask?'

Celric turns aside to A blind, wretched-looking male human, watching curiously.

A blind, wretched-looking male human asks 'There was another sister? Saevitia?'

Elisabeth raises an eyebrow.

Elisabeth's brows lift only higher.

Skylar's head cants towards a side.

Belator Durmstrang says 'You are introducing new evidence.'

Belator Durmstrang says 'All will disregard.'

Ailyn hmms softly, face remaining neutral throughout as her fingers brush the runes of her staff softly.

.
Katheryn's brow furrows at A blind, wretched-looking male human's question.

A blind, wretched-looking male human bows his head, 'Forgive me.'.

Daerin whistles slightly offkey.

A blind, wretched-looking male human pops himself in the mouth several times with his palm.

Elisabeth dips her head briefly in Belator Durmstrang's direction.

Belator Durmstrang says to A blind, wretched-looking male human 'Confine your queries to what is currenly being asked.'

A blind, wretched-looking male human says in a resonant and militant bass, 'Yes your honor.'.

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'Procede.'

Daerin asks 'With respect, your honor, the defense has no further witnesses to call at this moment. May I defer to my peer on prosecution, in this matter?'

Aziza says 'I have only one further witness to bring, and that is Isabelle Marshall.'

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

Belator Durmstrang says 'You submitted Thaien as a witness.'

Thaien raises an eyebrow at Daerin.

Daerin says 'Ah, yes, this is true. Thank you.'

.

Daerin nods. 'Then in light of that, I would call the Loremaster Thaien to the stand.'.

Thaien nods and stands. He makes his way to the stand, humming quietly to himself as he takes a seat.

Aziza glances at Thaien.

Ailyn gazes thoughtfully at Thaien and says 'Hmmm.'

You are really hungry.
You are thirsty.
Cabadath smiles a bit more.

Aziza glances at Belator Durmstrang, 'Permission to approach, your honour?'.

Belator Durmstrang nods.

Aziza approaches Belator Durmstrang and speaks quietly, 'I fail to see what possible relevance this witness could have, apart from prejudicing the jury and providing hearsay evidence. To my knowledge, he is not a witness to any of the incidents Cabadath is charged with.'.

Belator Durmstrang asks Daerin 'On what will your witness give testimony... if you remember?'

Daerin says 'Loremaster Thaien was present after the event, and saw the bodies of the fallen trio. He can speak to Cabadath's reaction and subsequent attempts on his life."'

Elisabeth tilts her head.

Skylar's head cants towards a side.

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'Then I find this witness valid, provided he give testimony specific to what he was witness for.'

Ailyn gazes thoughtfully at Daerin and says 'Hmmm.'

A blind, wretched-looking male human bites at his lip, a sad look crossing his brow.

Elisabeth just stares.

Aziza speaks quietly, 'Introducing evidence about attacks on Cabadath's life that have nothing to do with his crimes would prejudice the jury severely. I suggest that any testimony regarding that matter be not allowed.'.

Belator Durmstrang asks Daerin 'Defence?'

Daerin says to Aziza 'The attempts on his life were in response to the incident, and represent a miscarriage of justice.'

Celric tilts his head from one side to the other, chewing on his cheek. He glances to Belator Durmstrang.

Katheryn purses her lips tightly and glances over at Elisabeth, considering her shortly before she shakes her head slowly, focus returning on those speaking. She reaches out and pats gently once more at Elisabeth's knee.

Daerin says to Aziza 'They were not sanctioned by any court, and therefor should be considered.'

Aziza says to Daerin 'You have no way of knowing what caused that, or who was involved, or we would have heard about it beforehand.'

Elisabeth's jaw actually drops a moment at Daerin's words before she seems to remember herself and promptly sits back to fix her features.

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'Hold please.'

Daerin asks Aziza 'Perhaps we should speak to the Loremaster and find out for certain?'

Aziza asks Daerin 'Perhaps I should blame Cabadath for the fly that landed in my soup yesterday?'

Daerin holds.
Thaien sits patiently, hands folded in his lap, staring out at the gathered crowd.

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'ENOUGH.'

Thaien hums a little tune.
Huh?
Aziza holds her hands up concedingly and purses her lips.
Cabadath flinches.

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'You may ask him about his experiences immediately after the events in question.'

Elisabeth whispers very quietly with Katheryn.

Daerin nods. 'Loremaster Thaien, do you swear to speak nothing but the truth, here before your peers and in the sight of Oghma?'.

Belator Durmstrang says to Daerin 'The assassinations are -not- on the table.'

Daerin bows before Belator Durmstrang.

Elisabeth nods at Katheryn.

Hostelner nods a few times and taps A blind, wretched-looking male human's leg as he listens.
Cabadath grasps his symbol a bit more closely to his heart.

Aziza bows her head lightly before returning to her spot and taking a seat.

Thaien nods his head. 'I do. As a servant of the Binder, I am already sworn to that vow.'.

Elisabeth rubs at her nose.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Nonetheless.'

Ailyn hmms softly.

Thaien nods.

Daerin says to Thaien 'The question of Cabadaths honesty was brought up once before. Having seen the result of the attacks in question, can you speak to his reaction?"'

A blind, wretched-looking male human stiffens as he swallows a smile, finding amusement either between Hostelner or Belator Durmstrang.

Aziza holds her hand up, 'Objection. The witness has no way to know what Cabadath was thinking.'.

Elisabeth nods.

Celric glances at Aziza.

Daerin blinks.

Daerin says 'I was not asking about his feelings, but his reactions outwardly.'

Belator Durmstrang says 'The witness may describe what is observed, opinion though upon those facts may not be offered.'

Aziza nods, 'With that clarification made, my objections are withdrawn.'.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Report if they smiled, but not that they are happy, etc.'

Thaien gazes at Aziza indifferently before turning back towards Daerin, 'Yes. He was calm. He did not smile or act in any way pleased about the situation. He gave condolences when I arrived at the Howling Peaks.'.

Daerin nods at Thaien. 'Did he ask forgiveness?'.

Thaien shakes his head, humming. 'No. He said he regretted their deaths, but they attacked him, and he defended himself. He asked me if he should have allowed them to cause him harm.'.

You are STARVING!
You are really thirsty.

.

Daerin nods. 'I see. What did he do with the undead after you arrived?'.

Katheryn tries /very/ hard not to roll her eyes, instead lifting her gaze skyward and finding something interesting for a moment before she refocuses on the proceedings.

Hostelner looks at Katheryn.

Thaien hums quietly, thinking for a moment. 'He sent them away. I believe he destroyed them afterwards at my request.'.

Daerin nods in response. 'No further questions, your honor.'.

Belator Durmstrang looks at Aziza.

Aziza stands briefly, 'I have no questions for this witness.'.

Thaien stands and hesitates before stepping off the podium, 'Your honor, may I ask a question of the court?'.

Celric holds up one hand, 'May I ask clarification as to an answer the witness has given?'.

Elisabeth glances at Thaien.

Celric pauses, and hesitantly lowers his hand.

Skylar glances sidelong towards Thaien.

Belator Durmstrang says 'AYe'

Aziza glances at Thaien.

A midnight-blue winged male aasimar is in perfect health.

Aziza says to Belator Durmstrang 'I reserve the right to question him based on his following statement.'

Belator Durmstrang nods.

Belator Durmstrang says to Celric 'Procede.'

Thaien hums quietly to himself, then asks, 'Why was I not be allowed to be considered a character witness?'.

Belator Durmstrang says to Thaien 'The defence did not present such.'

Daerin winces.

Thaien nods, 'Ah, a fair enough point. Thank you, Your Honor. I misunderstood the context, I believe.'.

Elisabeth lifts a hand to her mouth a moment, concealing its expression.

Hagor stumbles through a rift in space.

Celric clears his throat lightly, and turns his attention on Thaien, 'You elaborated that the witness did not smile, or seem pleased. Did he also not seem distraught, or saddened by why had happened?'.

Celric clears his throat, 'By -what- happened.'.

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

A blind, wretched-looking male human squints as he turns to listen to Celric in silence. He turns back facing outward.

Hagor has returned to this reality.

Thaien hums at the question and answers, 'I was told not to offer what I read his emotions to be, just exactly what I observed.'.

Belator Durmstrang asks 'Did his mouth turn downward or his eyes mist up or any other visible result?'

Celric tilts his head from one side, to the other, 'I am only asking, for clarification, as you did elaborate in one direction but not the other-'.

Celric nods at Belator Durmstrang.

Aziza scratches some notes down on her parchment.

Thaien hums, trying to think back on the moment. 'There was much frowning. But it was perhaps more related to my disapproval of his actions. That is how I perceived it.'.

Belator Durmstrang says to Thaien 'Thank you, Loremaster.'

Belator Durmstrang asks Celric 'Anything further?'

Celric shakes his head to Belator Durmstrang, 'No, your honour, that suffices.'.

Belator Durmstrang asks Aziza 'Questions?'

Aziza shakes her head in Belator Durmstrang's direction.

Aziza says 'I have no questions for this witness.'

Belator Durmstrang says to Thaien 'You may step down.'

Thaien nods and makes his way back to his seat, humming along the way.

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'Your next witness has had to retire.'

Ailyn hmms softly.

Belator Durmstrang asks Aziza 'Your next witness has had to retire?'
Cabadath offers a quiet nod to Thaien.
Aziza says 'And, as my last witness is no longer present, I have no other witnesses to present.'

Aziza nods at Belator Durmstrang.

Daerin says 'I concur with the prosecution. No witness to present.'

Belator Durmstrang asks Aziza 'Is her testimony crucial or do you have a written summation?'

Aziza says to Belator Durmstrang 'Her testimony is not vital, but I would request a five minute recess to gather my thoughts.'

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'Done.'

Daerin lets out a long breath.

The set of black marble doors opens.
Cabadath breathes out slowly.

A blind, wretched-looking male human bobs his head patiently in agreement.

Elisabeth rises to approach directly Aziza.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Five minute recess.'

an elegant bracelet with a fire ruby heart glows briefly as Yuli activates it.

Hostelner stands and rubs the back of his neck.

Hostelner rises from his rest.
You see Before a grand citadel.
a paladin of Helm and a paladin of Helm are nearby south from here.
a phantom steed and Garoon, a dark roan warhorse are not too far off south from here.

Thaien stands and stretches slightly.

Celric lets out a long-held breath, and nods. He pushes himself up again, and makes his way over toward Katheryn.

Skylar exhales a soft breath, massaging at her temples for a moment before she bends to offer Katheryn a gentle smile before collecting a jewel from her things and bringing a coffee to Aziza.

Skylar straps a sunburst jewel around her head.

a sunburst jewel glows briefly as Skylar activates it.

Katheryn nudges Elisabeth.

Skylar stops using a sunburst jewel.

an elegant bracelet with a fire ruby heart glows briefly as Yuli activates it.

Elisabeth makes to speak in swift, quiet whispers with Aziza ...

Stigr runs in from the south.

Stigr runs south.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.
You see Before a grand citadel.
a paladin of Helm, a paladin of Helm and Stigr are nearby south from here.
a phantom steed and Garoon, a dark roan warhorse are not too far off south from here.

Yuli rises from her rest.

Aziza holds the espresso in both hands and takes a long swig from it before leaning in to start scribbling in her binder messily.

Skylar straps a sunburst jewel around her head.

a sunburst jewel glows briefly as Skylar activates it.

Skylar stops using a sunburst jewel.

The bailiff says to Yuli 'Advise him of the rules.'

Yuli nods.

Yuli walks south.

a phantom steed and Garoon, a dark roan warhorse are not too far off south from here.

Hostelner looks at Hagor.

Ailyn hmms softly.

Thaien looks at you.

Thaien finishes his hushed whispering with Daerin and smiles, patting him on the shoulder.

Celric lightly taps Katheryn on the side, and offers a small smile, 'Hey. Been doing alright, Lady? Always seems like a while.'.

Skylar looks at Daerin.

Katheryn looks at Celric.

Thaien walks south.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.

Skylar looks quietly over Daerin for a short time, then offers a gentle smile before settling back into a seat just behind Aziza's prosecution stand.

Katheryn gives Celric a warm smile and a faint nod of her head in reply, 'Aye, I have been well, thank you kindly for asking. It has indeed been quite some time. How are you?'.

Stigr runs in from the south.

Thaien walks in from the south.

Yuli walks in from the south.

A weathered leather satchel on Katheryn emits a faint clinking noise.

Cabadath stretch his legs a bit, smiling at Thaien.

Hagor says to Katheryn 'Ouse satchel iz makin clinkin soundz'

Yuli speaks quietly to Katheryn, 'Dame, your satchel is clinking.'.

Thaien pats you on the shoulder.

Katheryn blinks.

Hagor chuckles.

Hostelner looks at Yuli.

Katheryn chuckles briefly, quietly and inclines her head with a, 'Thank you.' as she pushes an escapee back to it's prison.

Skylar takes a fresh lemon from a huge pillowcase.

A blind, wretched-looking male human asks 'Ay-a. Does any one have some thing to eat?'

Thaien gets a star covered birthday cake from a large yellow bag.

Thaien gives a star covered birthday cake to A blind, wretched-looking male human.

Celric nods his head quickly to Katheryn, 'I've been well. We should catch up some time, me and you.'.
Thaien gets a star covered birthday cake from a large yellow bag.

Hagor asks Skylar '....ous git any extra lemonz?'

Thaien gives a star covered birthday cake to A blind, wretched-looking male human.

Celric looks at Katheryn.

A blind, wretched-looking male human says 'Thank you, thank you.'

Thaien nods at A blind, wretched-looking male human.

Skylar gives a fresh lemon to A blind, wretched-looking male human.

Skylar gives a fresh lemon to Hagor.

A blind, wretched-looking male human smiles at Skylar.

Hagor exclaims to Skylar 'Dank ouse!'

Hagor happily begins sucking on the lemons.

Celric presses a hand to his lips, and smiles at Katheryn, 'Later, though. I just wanted to say hello while we had a break from all the tension.'.

The set of black marble doors closes.

Ailyn Hmmmms...

Katheryn gives a quick nod of her head in reply to Celric and says, 'Aye, til then.'.
Celric looks to the doors, 'Which seems to be over.'.

Celric pats Katheryn on the shoulder, before quickly retreating to his position at the tribune.

Hostelner walks back to his seat and says to A blind, wretched-looking male human as he sits down 'Oh my, today is your birthday? How wonderful'.

You reply to Thaien 'Two to one is all i need.'

Belator Durmstrang says 'As we have no further witnesses, closing arguments.'

Daerin nods as the doors close and the trial resumes.

Hostelner sits and relaxes.
You nod.
Yuli moves back to her seat on the bench she was sitting on.

Yuli sits down and relaxes.
Yuli sits on a long wooden bench.
Other players see your pose as 'Cabadath is tenderly grasping his symbol, sitting next to Daerin.'.

Thaien nods and takes a seat behind the defence once again.

Stigr sits down and relaxes.
Stigr sits on a long wooden bench.

Elisabeth finishes her hurried whisperings with Aziza, nodding to return to her seat beside Katheryn.

Hostelner looks at Stigr.

Ailyn looks at Stigr.

Stigr lowers himself onto the bench and remains as quiet as he entered.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Everyone to their locales, the prosecution and then the defence. No questions, no interruptions, you each make your statements.'

A blind, wretched-looking male human laughs quietly at Hostelner as he takes his repose, sitting with both his hands folded at his lap.

Ailyn offers the first real smile today to Stigr as she notices him.

Aziza folds her binder closed after just a moment and gives a short nod towards Belator Durmstrang.

Skylar exhales a gentle breath, lifting her light blue eyes among the forefront of the court as her customary smile regains its place on her pinkish lips.

Celric folds his hands behind his head, glancing between Aziza and Daerin.

Katheryn reaches over and takes Elisabeth's hand into her own, giving it a gentle squeeze as she watches the proceedings continue.

Aziza says to Belator Durmstrang 'I'm ready to proceed with my closing, with your permission, Justice.'

Elisabeth looks briefly toward Katheryn with a soft smile, though it is erelong to fade as she too shifts her focus toward the closing statements.

Belator Durmstrang nods at Aziza.
Cabadath focuses on Aziza.

Aziza turns to address the tribune, looking at each of them in turn, Celric, Hostelner, and A blind, wretched-looking male human.

Aziza says 'So, here we have ourselves a bit of a paradox for a defendant. A self-admitted necromancer, a man with no concern for the sanctity of life, who suddenly regrets killing when called to account for it.'

Hostelner crosses his legs and folds his hands looking intently at Aziza.

Aziza says 'A proven fighter who was somehow rattled by three novices. He claims to have been outnumbered, three to one, but the reality is that it was a battle of three to sixteen if you include the souls he enslaved to his will.'

Aziza pauses briefly before concluding, 'Yes, Cabadath is a man of paradoxes, or perhaps merely a man of lies.'.

Aziza says 'He claims that Vaeritas and Isabelle attacked him first, but we have the testimony of Elisabeth saying that he attacked them first, using powerful area spells that drew them into the fight.'

Aziza asks 'So, who is it we believe? A liar and a necromancer, or a woman who has dedicated her very life to the truth?'
You frown at what Aziza did.

A blind, wretched-looking male human sits with stiff jowls as he listens with a very sober expression in his shut eyes, pondering in silence as Aziza speaks towards him.

Aziza shakes her head lightly as she paces, still keeping her focus on the tribune, though she does throw out a disgusted glance at you.

Aziza says 'He claims that the undead which attacked Waterdeep had nothing whatsoever to do with him and offers as a defense the coincidence that another necromancer was creating undead in the precise location he had been working.'
Cabadath clutches his symbol as he gazes at Aziza.

Aziza holds up one finger, 'Possible, but you have to ask yourself if you're willing to grant this man the benefit of the doubt.'.

Aziza says 'I say, no. Cabadath was gathering undead slaves in the Howling Peaks, a location frequented by young adventurers and novices. He knew what he was doing when he went there, and he knew what he was doing when he slew Isabelle and Vaeritas.'

Aziza says 'Elisabeth acting in defense of the life of her brother in no way excuses Cabadath from the consequences of his actions. You have a chance to stop this man here and now, to remind him that the law knows no borders and will not be fooled by his ridiculous lies.'

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

Aziza finishes, with a strong look at each of the three tribunes, 'Don't let him hide from this. Find him guilty of all charges.'.

Aziza nods towards Belator Durmstrang before taking her seat again.

Aziza sits and relaxes.

Belator Durmstrang nods at Aziza.

A blind, wretched-looking male human lifts his eyes towards the roof unknowingly.

Belator Durmstrang asks 'Thank you, mister Daerin?'

Elisabeth takes in and then releases a short breath as her gaze shifts toward Daerin.
Cabadath just shakes his head, barely noticeably.

Katheryn smiles faintly at Aziza, giving Elisabeth's hand a gentle squeeze before looking on towards Daerin.

Hostelner turns to Daerin giving Daerin the same intense look.

Yuli reaches over, placing a gentle hand on Elisabeth's shoulder.

Skylar's glowing blue eyes fixate quietly on Daerin.

Elisabeth returns the gentle pressure to Katheryn's own and nods faintly, her other hand drawing back a lock of hair from her face.

Elisabeth smiles at Yuli.

Celric nods thoughtfully, gaze falling on you for a long, idle moment.

Daerin smiles at Aziza. 'Well spoken Miss Aziza, and an excellent appeal to emotion. But that's all that it is. While the prosecution would have you believe this man a monster and a liar, in fact he is no more than an overzealous student. The facts and the emotions of this case a re very much at odds, because despite the Marshall Triplets opportunities to return to Waterdeep in safety to summon help, they instead sided with their overzealous sister in her attack on a clearly overwhelming force.’

Cabadath takes a deep breath and nods, quietly listening to Daerin.

Stigr crosses a single arm over his chest and strokes his chin with the other hand. His gaze thoughtful as it flits from Daerin to you, expression completely neutral.

Hagor idlly licks a tusk, but otherwise remains rather quiet.

Daerin says 'Their actions are not that of a crusader defending their faith, rather, overzealous children seeking to justify their suicide. As an Oghman, Cabadath is bound by the same laws as his Loremaster, Thaien, and has done nothing but speak the facts of this case. Indeed, after rebuke, he saw the error of his ways and released the undead back to their peace.'

Elisabeth's jaw sets firm a moment as she watches on.

Skylar's left eye squints a bit as she listens to Daerin's closing statement, her frown touching upon a return.

Daerin says 'Finally, the prosecution has provided very little tangible proof over his intent to attack the city, rather, they rely on hearsay and fear to goad you into ruling against this man. The Dame Skylar herself spoke that there was no proof that the undead were under his command, only circumstantial evidence.'

Skylar shakes her head slowly at Daerin's representation of her words, taking a slow breath.

Daerin says 'I beg you members of the tribune not succumb to fear and instead side with reason and justice.'

Daerin bows his head. 'Thank you.'.

Re: The trial of Cabadath.

Post by Rakthar » Wed Dec 13, 2017 6:43 am

[Third and last part, Phew!]
Belator Durmstrang nods.

A blind, wretched-looking male human listens to Daerin with a thoughtful tilt of his head. He slowly lowers his gaze.
Cabadath nods once at Daerin.

Ailyn rubs her brow, shaking her head from her seat.

Aziza gives a slightly incredulous shake of her head as she scribbles some notes down into her binder.

Celric nods slowly.

Elisabeth draws her tongue across her teeth after forcing them to part. Her gaze remains fixed on Daerin as she leans back in her seat.

Belator Durmstrang says 'The words of both sides have been given, now it falls to you tribunes under the gods above to sift fact from fiction.'

Belator Durmstrang says 'The charges are heinous necromancy and two counts of murder in the second degree.'

You see The Seclusium.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Remove yourselves, tribunes, and confer.'

A blind, wretched-looking male human stiffens his throat, clearing it with a quiet snort. He bobs his head, standing and listening for the other tribunes.

Celric nods to Belator Durmstrang, and rises. He claps a hand on Hostelner and A blind, wretched-looking male human's shoulders, before moving past into the room beyond.

Celric walks north.

A blind, wretched-looking male human walks north.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the north.

Yuli rises from her rest.

Yuli sits down and relaxes.
Yuli sits on a long wooden bench.

Hostelner rises from his rest.

Hostelner walks north.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the north.

Daerin sits primly.
You see The Seclusium.
Celric, A blind, wretched-looking male human and Hostelner are nearby north from here.

Elisabeth touches her free hand's fingertips to the heavy chain about her neck, bowing her head through a pregnant several moments in solemn prayer.

Cabadath looks at A graceful, saturnine male halfelf.

Cabadath looks at A tall, silver-haired male sun elf.

Cabadath looks at A midnight-blue winged male aasimar.

Elisabeth looks up after those several moments with a soft smile for Katheryn, nodding. 'Always.'.

Ailyn glances at you.

Katheryn gives Elisabeth a warm smile and gently squeezes her hand with a faint nod of her head in reply.

Thaien coughs quietly and clears his throat.

Yuli speaks quietly to Stigr.

Thaien smiles reassuringly at you.
You nod at him.
Cabadath caresses his symbol tenderly.

Hagor looks at those involved and cants his head his ears twitching in consideration.

Aziza looks at you.

Ailyn shakes her head.

You see The Seclusium.
Celric, A blind, wretched-looking male human and Hostelner are nearby north from here.

You ask Belator Durmstrang 'May i eat, Justice?'
Cabadath purses his lips.

Belator Durmstrang says 'So long as it is not a pill of recall or phase shifting, you would die if you tried.'
You nod at him.
You take a thick juicy beef steak from a travellers pack.
You eat a thick juicy beef steak.
You are no longer hungry.
You get a thick juicy beef steak from a travellers pack.
You give a thick juicy beef steak to Thaien.
You say to Thaien 'From the Font.'

Ailyn hmms softly, eyes glancing upward in thought for a moment.
You get a decanter of endless ale from a travellers pack.
You drink water from a decanter of endless ale.
You drink water from a decanter of endless ale.
You do not feel thirsty.
You drink water from a decanter of endless ale.
You feel bloated.

Stigr turns an ear to Yuli and nods, sharing hushed words with her.
You put a decanter of endless ale in a travellers pack.

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.
You see The Seclusium.
Celric, A blind, wretched-looking male human and Hostelner are nearby north from here.

Yuli nods slowly, replying bask softly to Stigr.

Elisabeth's finger traces along the holy sigil among the chamber's expectant silence.
Katheryn exhales quietly.

Elisabeth looks at Elisabeth.

Thaien thanks you.

Skylar leans forward to place a hand on Aziza's shoulder, murmuring a gentle hymnal prayer of guiding light.

Ailyn closes her eyes for a brief time, bowing her head as if in prayer.
Thaien flutters his wings idly. 'This has been a very long day.'.

Daerin nods at Thaien.

Daerin says to Thaien 'Oh, it's going to be much longer yet.'

Daerin chuckles.

Daerin holds an endless decanter of strawberry cyser in his right hand.

Elisabeth glances at Daerin.

Elisabeth rubs at her nose.

Daerin says 'I'll need to drink for days to get this out of my head.'
You nod at him.

Elisabeth puts in a polite, 'Mayhps not in the court... never mind.'.

Elisabeth shakes her head.

Daerin coughs loudly.

Daerin says to Elisabeth 'Too true.'

Katheryn says to Daerin 'I should hope you do not drink yourself to drunkeness in an attempt to undermine the process once more..'

Daerin says to Katheryn 'One can only hope.'

Daerin stops using an endless decanter of strawberry cyser.

Katheryn says to Daerin 'It would only show ill of you, but such is your own choice.'

Daerin says to Katheryn 'My job is done. Doesn't matter what people think of me now, the damage is done.'

Elisabeth rubs some more at her nose before telling Katheryn a quiet, 'Thank you,' and splitting her tart, offering half to share with Katheryn.

Liliel says 'What is a reputation for, I wonder, if not losing.'

Daerin grins at Liliel.
Cabadath nods sagely at Liliel.

Katheryn gives Daerin the faintest of smiles as she says, 'I pray you can find sleep at night, Master Wonko.'.

Daerin shivers uncomfortably.

Daerin says to Katheryn 'That's what the cyser is for.'

Hagor hmmms '...why would ouse hauf trouble sleepin?' he wonders 'Meat helpz wit dat'.

Katheryn simply shakes her head.
Stigr's shoulders lift in answer to Yuli.

Ailyn rubs her brow.

Thaien Hmmmms...

Thaien crosses his arms, humming to himself in an attempt to wait patiently.

Stigr's gaze flits around guiltily after receiving the tart, offering a thankful dip of the head to Yuli.

Liliel yawns wide.

Ailyn glances towards Stigr and Yuli and smiles softly, her eyes returning towards the front as she waits.

Yuli whispers to Ailyn.

Elisabeth looks at you.

Katheryn realizes half the tart was offered to her too late, and assumes Elisabeth took the decline and ate it anyway.

Stigr offers Ailyn a reassuring smile in return.

Elisabeth nods her head in agreement with Katheryn.

Elisabeth hums a little tune.

Elisabeth smiles at Katheryn.

Liliel looks at Elisabeth.

Ailyn nods in thanks to Yuli.

Elisabeth offers half of this one also to Katheryn.

Ailyn's a hint of magical essence glows red for just a second.

Elisabeth looks at Ailyn.
Hagor hums a tune his ears twitching in thought.

Katheryn gives Elisabeth a warm smile and inclines her head, accepting this half of the tart.

Ailyn hmms softly and shrugs, eating the tart.

Elisabeth nomnoms.

Belator Durmstrang pulls out his needles and resumes knitting a cardigan.

Ailyn stops using a grey copper ring set with a large bloodstone.
Ailyn slips her finger into a ring of the Weave.

Yuli glances at Belator Durmstrang.

Skylar squees a bit, then whispers at Belator Durmstrang, 'Ooooh! Who's it for when it's finished?'.

Yuli chuckles quietly before coughing lightly into her hand to hide it.

Belator Durmstrang says 'My husband.'
Aziza pulls out some aida cloth and begins cross stitching a pretty sun.

Katheryn looks at Belator Durmstrang.

Thaien looks at Belator Durmstrang.

Katheryn gives Belator Durmstrang a warm smile.

Thaien nods.

Thaien nods.

Skylar tells Belator Durmstrang with a glowing smile, 'I'm sure he'll love it.'.

Belator Durmstrang nods at Skylar.

Skylar whispers a bit at Belator Durmstrang, 'Needs more sunrises.'.

Skylar winks at Belator Durmstrang.

Hagor looks to Belator Durmstrang '....kin ouse knit wan wit a stingray?' he wonders before looking to Daerin 'Ouse alrioght?'.

Skylar returns to her seat.

Skylar grins.

Liliel looks at Belator Durmstrang.

Yuli looks at Belator Durmstrang.

Hagor looks at Belator Durmstrang.

Thaien stands and stretches, beginning to walk up around the room.

Ailyn hmms softly again, waiting quietly as her fingers trace the runes upon her staff.

Belator Durmstrang says to Hagor 'If you like, I certainly could in the future.'

Skylar looks northwards, then back towards the sundial on her wrist.

Hagor exclaims to Belator Durmstrang 'Me would love dat!'

Elisabeth looks at Skylar.

Elisabeth actually half expected to see a sundial on Skylar's wrist.

Skylar wishes.

Skylar sighs at Elisabeth.

Elisabeth smiles at Skylar.

Aziza looks at Skylar.

You see The Seclusium.
Celric, A blind, wretched-looking male human and Hostelner are nearby north from here.

Elisabeth turns her ear northward to try to pick up the sounds of a brawl.

Yuli gives a soft sigh, her fingers lightly brushing the symbol around her neck as she ponders.

Katheryn taps at Elisabeth's hand and gives a faint shake of her head.

Elisabeth nods.

Elisabeth sits back once more.

Skylar logs into mobile just in case they figure this out tonight.

Aziza ties off one colour and threads another in her needle before continuing with her cross stitching.
Cabadath murmurs a soft prayer with his symbol in hand.

Katheryn says to Elisabeth 'As the time goes by, more and more I can see Lilian seeking the Binder when time comes to choose.'

Thaien perks up, looking towards Katheryn.

Katheryn considers before she adds, 'If she decides at all.'.

Aziza gets a hand puppet from a large bag with a newspaper pattern.

Aziza wears a hand puppet on her hands.

Ailyn gazes thoughtfully at Katheryn and says 'Hmmm.'

Cabadath overhears at Katheryn and does a curt nod followed by a smile.

Katheryn gives Elisabeth a warm smile as she says, 'She will heckle you to overhear a case, however.'.

Hagor idlely drums on the railing of the bench in front of him.

Elisabeth hesitates a long moment before telling Katheryn with a nod, 'She is ever so curious about so many things. And how she loves her books.' She chuckles quietly at Katheryn, 'I would delight to see her at a legal function like this.'.

Skylar straps a sunburst jewel around her head.

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

Thaien Hmmmms...

Katheryn gives a quick nod of her head in reply to Elisabeth, 'I do not think she has the discipline in her just yet to withhold herself. Perhaps in a few years.'.
Thaien hums a little tune.

Elisabeth grins at Katheryn.

Ailyn hmms softly to herself.

Katheryn murmurs lowly to Elisabeth, 'Last we need is a Justice tossing her out of court for asking too many questions and not even being involved.'.

Elisabeth says to Katheryn 'Aye. I mean, it might be a little amusing, but just a little.'

Elisabeth ahems gently.

Katheryn chuckles.

Skylar smiles softly towards Katheryn.

Thaien yawns.

Katheryn says to Elisabeth 'It would, but not in any productive ways.'

Katheryn nods.

Elisabeth nods her head in agreement with Katheryn.

Hagor muses to himself in orcish in some sort of musical rythem. He does so lowly and quietly.

Elisabeth looks at Hagor.

Elisabeth hmms quietly.

Aziza stops using a hand puppet.

Aziza puts a hand puppet in a large bag with a newspaper pattern.

Stigr sits back in his spot on the bench and cradles the text in his left hand, quietly busying himself with the alchemical text.

Elisabeth looks at Belator Durmstrang.

Thaien hums a little tune.

Hagor holds a book - "The Art of Adventuring" by Rayen in his right hand.

Aziza holds a polished redwood zither with silver strings in her left hand.

Aziza plucks a little melody on her zither.

Skylar holds a detailed couatl wing harp in her left hand.

Elisabeth smiles at Aziza.

Elisabeth smiles at Skylar.

Skylar leans her back against the wood dividing her and Aziza, strumming lightly a sub-melody to Aziza's own.

Ailyn stops using a staff of Mystra.

Ailyn holds a fine cerulean flute with silver keys in her right hand.

Yuli stretches just a little bit.
Ailyn shrugs and pulls out a flute, playing a soft tune to match Skylar and Aziza without overbearing their own music.

a silvery laced bracer with sunstar embroidery glows briefly as Thaien activates it.

Daerin clears his throat loudly.

Elisabeth imagines the trio playing an instrumental version of the Cops themesong.

Liliel is devoured by a portable hole.

Skylar thinks the FK version of the cops song is knights and wants someone to link the shrek video cuz mobile sucks.

Elisabeth snickers with Skylar.

Katheryn says 'If anyone finds themselves hungry...'

Katheryn drops a small wicker basket.

Katheryn motions to the basket.

Stigr's gaze flits up from his book with a quizzical expression on his countenance.

Katheryn says 'Take what you need.'

Hagor says to Katheryn 'dank ouse'

Hagor puts some coins in a leather pack.

Hagor puts some coins in a leather pack.

Katheryn gives Hagor a warm smile.

Elisabeth pauses a time, asking of Katheryn after, 'Do.. you go through about ten knives every time you bake, also?' curiously.

Katheryn says to Hagor 'Of course, Master Happy.'

Thaien hums a little tune.

Katheryn gives a quick nod of her head in reply to Elisabeth, 'I have about seven total in various places in the event they all break and it's night time and the shops not open.'.

Ailyn's hands pulsate and shimmer with soft light.

Elisabeth says to Katheryn 'Me too! Thank goodness, I thought I was doing something wrongly.'

Elisabeth says to Katheryn 'One would not imagine a knife could break on a peach, but.'

Yuli speaks softly, 'I think they need sturdier knives. I know I broke at least one when I was baking.'.

Aziza says to Elisabeth 'That's one hard peach pit.'

Katheryn says to Elisabeth 'The only way to ensure a clean, unbreaking cut, I think, is with a magical blade.'

Elisabeth gazes thoughtfully at Katheryn and says 'Hmmm.'

Katheryn nods her head in agreement with Yuli.

Aziza says to Katheryn 'I think it's a ploy by the baker's union to ensure repeat business.'

Katheryn says to Yuli 'I tend to break multiples at a time. One knife can go for...days. Days.'

Katheryn says 'Then I will break three.'

Elisabeth nods her head in agreement with Katheryn.

Katheryn says to Aziza 'Perhaps you are onto something.'

Yuli says 'Cutting an apple and oops..'

Katheryn asks Yuli 'At least it is the knife and not us, hm?'

Skylar asks 'Maybe it's the smithing guilds?'

Yuli says to Katheryn 'Agreed.'

Ailyn continues playing the soft flute music, even if the other music has stopped.

Thaien yawns.

The storm strengthens to a blizzard.

Skylar lets her head cant towards a side.

The tribunes are summoned to render their decision.

Hostelner walks in from the north.
A blind, wretched-looking male human walks in from the north.
You peer intently about your surroundings.

Daerin pats you on your back.

Katheryn gets a small wicker basket.

Thaien coughs gently, 'Ah, I shall remain a few more minutes.'.

Belator Durmstrang asks 'Tribunes, where doth thee stand?'

Hostelner leads A blind, wretched-looking male human in from the seclusium.

Katheryn retakes Elisabeth's hand and gives it a gentle squeeze.

Celric peers off through the door of the seclusium, pressing his lips together. He nods briefly, then, to Hostelner and A blind, wretched-looking male human, '... Who should speak?'.

Aziza glances up, only then noticing the tribunes, and she sits up at full attention.

Ailyn's hands pulsate and shimmer with soft light.
Stigr's hands pulsate and shimmer with soft light.

Daerin exclaims to Celric 'The one with the best voice, of course!'

Hostelner says 'I believe this situation stands for us giving each our say.'
Cabadath glances between the three tribunes, a bit of hope in his eyes.

Hagor looks at Stigr.

Celric inclines his head briefly, glancing to Belator Durmstrang.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Reason, on each count, Then emotion, etc.'

Hostelner nods.

Yuli looks at Stigr.

Belator Durmstrang says 'Double time, quick quick.'

Elisabeth looks over the trio silently.

Hostelner turns to watch Celric.

Hostelner coughs loudly.

Hostelner turns to watch A blind, wretched-looking male human.

Ailyn Hmmmms...

A blind, wretched-looking male human bobs his head, saying 'Very well. In the matter of reasoning, as to the first charge of heinous necromancy. The defendant has spoken for his guilt and so I shall defer adjudication of finding him guilty in lieu of his plea of guilt.'.

Belator Durmstrang says 'No plea deals here.'

Belator Durmstrang closes his eyes momentarily and concentrates on lowering his spell resistance.

Belator Durmstrang asks A blind, wretched-looking male human 'On the other counts?'

Katheryn draws in a deep breath, seeming to hold it until she exhales it slowly, listening to the verdicts.

Ailyn's hands pulsate and shimmer with soft light.

Belator Durmstrang says 'You might as well all just say where you stand, for expedience.'

A blind, wretched-looking male human bobs his head, 'It is true, he is guilty of heinous necromancy. We have found the defendant guilty of one count of second degree murder.'.

Thaien raises an eyebrow.

Daerin blinks.

Elisabeth nods.
Cabadath slowly blinks his eyes.

Skylar rubs at her nose thoughtfully.

Ailyn hmms softly, listening.

Hostelner says 'Aye, guilty of heinous necromancy, not guilty regarding the murder of Isabelle, and guilty for the murder of Vaeritas'

Elisabeth brushes her fingertips once more across the weighty pendant at her breast, watching on with neutral features.

Katheryn furrows her brow in confusion.

Elisabeth raises an eyebrow.

Celric clears his throat lightly with a glance aside to A blind, wretched-looking male human and Hostelner with a small nod, and presses a hand to his chest, 'Yes. I also recommend a guilty verdict to one charge of heinous necromancy, to which the defendent has admitted, and one charge of murder in the second degree against one Vaeritas Marshall.' he inclines his head briefly, 'As nothing was said of Isabelle Marshall by prosecution or defence , citing insufficient or missing information to her role in the encounter, I recommend the charge be discarded.'.

Ailyn scratches her head.

Thaien Hmmmms...
Cabadath blinks a bit more, trying to hear better.

Skylar blinks.

Aziza scratches some notes down in her binder.

Katheryn gives Elisabeth's hand a gentle squeeze.

Elisabeth's eyes narrow faintly, though she manages, with great effort, to let that be the singular sign of emotion she shows.

Belator Durmstrang considers the words of each and looks thoughtful.

Belator Durmstrang says 'I have heard your recommendations.'

Skylar carefully wraps her harp, then settles it away with care.

A blind, wretched-looking male human says in a resounding bass, 'We have argued at great length considering every doubt, your honor.'.

Skylar stops using a detailed couatl wing harp.

Skylar puts a detailed couatl wing harp in a huge pillowcase.

Belator Durmstrang says 'For the crime of murder against Isabelle... non penal verdict.'

Elisabeth frowns.

Belator Durmstrang says 'For the crime against Vaeritas, I must find also, non penal verdict.'

Ailyn stops using a fine cerulean flute with silver keys.

Ailyn puts a fine cerulean flute with silver keys in a pocketed long coat stitched with a motif of snowflakes and stars.

Ailyn holds a staff of Mystra in both of her hands.

Celric blinks once, but says nothing as he listens to Belator Durmstrang.

Belator Durmstrang says 'For the crime of heinous necromancy, guilty with extreme prejudice.'

Aziza leans back in her chair.

A blind, wretched-looking male human bows his head as he accepts the verdict.

Daerin whistles slightly offkey.

Belator Durmstrang says to you 'You are ordered to pay two hundred gold in weyrgeld to Diritas Marshall and a further two hundred in silver to Seraphine Marshall.'

Thaien nods, as if he expected this.

Aziza stands from her seat, 'Your honour, I object. You're throwing out both counts of murder, on what basis?'.
Cabadath nods at Belator Durmstrang, blinking a bit, 'Where am i to acquire this... Weyrgeld?'.

Skylar's head cants towards a side as she listens, her lips a thin flat line.

Belator Durmstrang says to you 'From your own funds, you will pay them for damage to their property, it was not yours to harm.'

Belator Durmstrang says to Aziza 'Your objection is noted, you may include it upon retrial.'

A blind, wretched-looking male human accounts, 'In the end, we did not reach a unanimous decision regarding the verdict of guilty for murder, due to an unclear doubt in whether any one was killed by undead goblins or a wayward magic spell.'.

Elisabeth purses her lips tightly, her breath seeming almost knocked from her breast as she listens in stillness.

Belator Durmstrang says to you 'This is verdict in absentia, if you are found guilty of similar murders, these will come back.'
Cabadath listens quietly and nods at Belator Durmstrang.

Belator Durmstrang says to you 'The Doom of Damocles is above your head, and it SHALL fall if you do not ammend your ways.'

Katheryn uses her other hand to pat gently at Elisabeth's own before holding it with both hands.

Celric glances asidew to A blind, wretched-looking male human, pressing his lips tight together.

Ailyn glances at Thaien.
You nod at him.

Thaien shrugs in response to Daerin.

Belator Durmstrang says 'As to the crime of heinous necromancy, I do not find use of necromantic school spells in and of themselves illegal.'

Belator Durmstrang says to you 'However, your army of undead speaks of no fair intent, compounded upon your abuse of the remains and souls of deceased.'

Belator Durmstrang says 'For the latter, you will pay 100 copper to the chief of the Howling Peaks goblins.'

Daerin blinks.

Belator Durmstrang says 'For the former...'

Elisabeth stares at Belator Durmstrang.

Skylar's slender hand lifts and flexes carefully, then settles once more at her waist as she listens silently.

Belator Durmstrang steps forward with a severe aspect, raising a hand and chanting in celestial.

Belator Durmstrang gives you a holy rune.
You strap a holy rune around your head.

Elisabeth winces.

Ailyn looks at you.
It can be picked up, worn on the face.
It cannot be worn with any other armour.
It is medium in size and would fit any body type.
It is made of sapphire and weighs next to nothing.
The image of a dagger is graven into your flesh:

Belator Durmstrang says 'NECROMANTUS INVALIDATUS'

Daerin blinks.

You hear the sound of eerie music nearby.

Hagor looks at you.

Celric blinks.

Thaien gasps quietly under his breath.

A blind, wretched-looking male human asks quietly of Hostelner 'What did he do?'.

Skylar looks at you.

Yuli looks at you.

Hostelner says to A blind, wretched-looking male human 'He separated Cabadath from the weave essentially, I believe'

Ailyn offers a faint smile, though brief.

Celric looks at you.

Stigr looks at you.

Belator Durmstrang says 'You are free to go, if you fail to pay these tolls within a season's time you will be committed to a debtor's prison for the rest of your days, natural or unnatural.'

Skylar's eyes squint faintly, then return to normal as though growing accustomed to some light as she regards you.

A blind, wretched-looking male human nods his head very slowly, whispering 'I thought so.'.

Belator Durmstrang gestures to the bailiff.

The bailiff strikes his staff on the ground thrice.
Cabadath blinks.

Belator Durmstrang says 'We are concluded.'

Elisabeth rises.

Daerin asks 'A moment, your honor?'
They aren't here.

Yuli whispers quietly to Ailyn.

Hagor whispers 'Me dinks...he only disconnected from necromatic spellz...judgin by his words'.

The bailiff says to Daerin 'No.'

Katheryn smiles faintly, giving Elisabeth's hand a squeeze before she rises with Elisabeth, keeping Elisabeth's hand.

Thaien stands, seemingly at a loss for words.

Daerin tsks.

Skylar nods her head in agreement with Hagor.

Celric glances slowly down, and up over you with a small nod. He releases a heavy sigh, stepping down from the tribune toward the crowd.

A blind, wretched-looking male human kowtows his hands together saying 'Your honor. Thank you for your patience.'.

Aziza rises from her rest.
They aren't here.

Hagor rises from his rest.

Daerin asks quickly. 'Is he removed from the weave entirely? Or only necromancy?'.

You shake your head in response to Daerin.
You say 'He's gone.'

Daerin mutters.

Daerin says 'Well.'

Elisabeth calls, if quietly, 'Gratitude, your honor, tribunes.' without a smile.

Thaien places a hand on your back. 'We will speak soon.'.

Skylar casts a final look towards you, then places a soothing hand on Aziza's shoulder and bids, 'Let's go, sweet Sister.'.

Daerin nods. 'Indeed. Thank you all for your service.'.

Celric pauses at the door, leaning lightly against the frame. He glances over the room, absently slipping a hand down into his bag.

Katheryn gives Aziza a warm smile and says towards her softly, 'Thank you for your help, Miss Aziza. I know you did your best.'.

Celric wears a single half moon stud on his ears.

Thaien places a finely crafted purple bronze amulet loosely around his neck.

Hostelner says to Aziza and Daerin 'We took this matter to heart, we did not come to our judgements lightly.'.

Aziza whispers quietly to Katheryn, 'Sorry about the outcome.'.

Hostelner says 'As you can tell from the time we spend deliberating'

Yuli slowly rises from her seat, placing a hand on Elisabeth's shoulder.

Aziza nods towards Hostelner, 'Indeed, and surely the court thanks you for your service.'.

Elisabeth says to Aziza, 'You could have done no better than you did, truly.'.

Katheryn shakes her head in reply to Aziza, 'You need not be sorry, the Even-Handed has been witnessed here today in full despite the undermining attempts.'.

Thaien walks south.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.
Cabadath traces the rune with his fingertips, frowning deeply.

Daerin nods at Hostelner. 'You've done yeomans service, Hostlenter, Celric, Marvin. Thank you all.'.
Yuli places a ruby rose on a silver chain loosely around her neck.

Daerin looks at you.

Skylar assures Aziza sofly, 'You did very well Zi.'.

Daerin says to you 'It's kinda pretty, really.'
You blink.

Elisabeth musters a soft smile for Aziza. 'Thank you for standing up for them.'.
You see no spelp here.

Celric sets the stud in his ear, keeping his hand over it a moment longer before letting it fall. He pushes away from the door, then, approaching Katheryn's side with a light pat. He peeks around, and nods to Aziza, 'You did great, honestly.'.
You get a small silver mirror from a spellslinger's bandolier replete with wand holsters.

a single half moon stud glows briefly as Celric activates it.
Hostelner walks over and shakes Celric and A blind, wretched-looking male human's hand.
You hold a small silver mirror in your right hand.

A blind, wretched-looking male human bows his head. 'There is a word, called rectitude. It is justice more or less. However, I wanted to say something to Elisabeth.'.

Hostelner says to A blind, wretched-looking male human 'Well, most fun I've had in years'

Katheryn looks at you.
Cabadath looks at his forehead with a mirror.

Celric blinks, and nods to Hostelner, shaking his hand, 'Well.'.

a single half moon stud glows briefly as Celric activates it.

Aziza pats Elisabeth's shoulder lightly.

Elisabeth lifts her gaze from Aziza, the smile quickly vanished, to glance about at the sound of her name.
Cabadath traces the rune slowly.

And so Cabadath's sentences on murder were commuted, pending no further infraction. But he must pay blood money for his actions, and is so interdicted from further use of necromancy!

Katheryn looks over at you a moment before she shakes her head faintly and says as a quiet thought, 'I should hope he learns and changes ways.'.

Daerin shakes his head. 'Luck be with you all. I need to go pray. A lot.'.

Elisabeth asks A blind, wretched-looking male human 'Yes, Master Marvin?'

A blind, wretched-looking male human smiles at Hostelner as he nods very slowly. 'I am honored' he says towards Celric and Hostelner. 'I respect your decisions.'.

Hagor asks Daerin 'Take care of ouself, eh?'

Hagor hugs Daerin.

A blind, wretched-looking male human turns to lean in to Elisabeth and say something quietly.

Daerin nods at Hagor.

Katheryn inclines her head politely towards Daerin, 'May you pray very hard, Master Wonko. And may you find easy enough rest in time.'.

Daerin shambles off.
Cabadath staggers and finds a seat.

Daerin rises from his rest.

Daerin walks south.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.
Other players see your pose as 'Cabadath is tenderly grasping his symbol, sitting next to Daerin.'.

a single half moon stud glows briefly as Celric activates it.

Hostelner walks over to you.
Other players will see your pose as 'Cabadath is sitting by the benches, tracing a rune on his forehead.'.

A blind, wretched-looking male human pauses, saying something more.

Hostelner thanks A blind, wretched-looking male human.

a single half moon stud glows briefly as Celric activates it.

Hostelner says to A blind, wretched-looking male human 'It was an honor'

Elisabeth listens carefully to A blind, wretched-looking male human.

A blind, wretched-looking male human turns in a martial stance with his arms straight by his sides and bows his shoulders.

Hagor muses to himself 'Tnlcss tmoeyan dasgs c whple lqt... novhilf gojng to cfynee, its not'.

Hostelner says to you 'It is a tough penalty that even some of the most renown adventurers has been through.'

Elisabeth dips her head at A blind, wretched-looking male human, needlessly.
Cabadath looks up at Hostelner, trying to find words for a moment.

Katheryn says under her breath in a way that only an irritated family member at an uncomfortable dinner might say, 'One justly deserved.'.

Hostelner turns to Katheryn and nods.

Katheryn draws in a long, deep breath before she confesses quietly towards Elisabeth, 'I will need to pray this evening as well.' with a faint nod of her head.

A blind, wretched-looking male human slowly nods his head, saying 'It has been a long ordeal, after all.'.

Elisabeth steps back to Katheryn's side, saying very, very quietly, 'Deserved. Yet my sibblings' lives are worth but fourty four platinum pieces.' as she folds her hands together at her waist.

Celric steps slowly around, to Elisabeth, and presses a hand to his chest as he bows his head, 'Look, I know we don't know eachother very well, but. For what it's worth, I -am- sorry .'.

Ailyn turns to head out the doors.

Aziza leans in to speak quietly to Elisabeth, 'Remember, we'll be watching him. If Cabadath continues his misdeeds, the weights of these murders will compound his next sentence, and it will not be so lenient.'.

Hostelner says to you 'Even so. Repay your debt, better yourself, and you will find that it is not penalty without end'

Ailyn walks south.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.

Skylar tells Aziza softly, 'I'll requisition us a room within the Roseportal House tonight, there will be a page to direct you when you're ready.'.

Katheryn gives Elisabeth a faint smile as she says, 'Aye, but should he perform the same once more, it will be far worse than that. Worry not, dear niece.'.

Stigr snaps his book shut and slips it into his bandolier and comes to a stand.

Aziza smiles softly at Skylar, 'Many thanks, kind sister.'.
Cabadath nods slowly at Hostelner, still unable to form words.

Aziza nods her head in agreement with Katheryn.

Aziza says to Elisabeth 'The sentences are but commuted, not dismissed.'

Yuli glances at Stigr.

Elisabeth inclines her head at Celric, then Aziza, saying to each, 'Thank you,' ere adding to the latter with a slight nod, 'Aye, so it shall.'.

Stigr places an amulet of communication loosely around his neck.

Hagor stops using a book - "The Art of Adventuring" by Rayen.

Someone gives a wool sweater covered in a fever of sting rays to Hagor.

Hostelner smiles brightly over to Katheryn 'Lovely to see you again. I wish it were under better circumstances'.

Katheryn gives Elisabeth's hand a gentle squeeze before she releases it and approaches you asking, 'Do you have need of any food or water, Master Cabadath?'.

Aziza crosses her arms and sighs as she leans back on her heels.

Hagor blinks.

Hagor raises his arms 'Woot!'.

Hagor stops using a fine mail haubergeon.
Hagor fits a wool sweater covered in a fever of sting rays on his body.

Katheryn gives Hostelner a warm smile and inclines her head politely, 'Aye, it is always nice to see you, Master Hostelner. I do hope you have been well.'.
Skylar bows slightly for the gathered before calling, 'Stay so very well and warm!' then she casts a last baleful glance at you before stepping off.
Cabadath looks up towards Katheryn with a wary gaze, still tracing the runes with his fingertips.

Elisabeth looks at you.

Yuli lifts a hand to wave to Skylar.

Stigr's chest rumbles in mirthful laughter as Hagor finds himself with a sweater, 'It seems the gift giver came early this solstice.'.

Elisabeth nods at Skylar.

Elisabeth says to Skylar 'Be well, Lady Skylar.'

Hostelner says to Katheryn 'Oh yes, I have been quite well.'

Stigr dips his head to Skylar, 'Weave guide, Dame Skylar. Take care.'.

Hagor looks over his sweat '...must remebar ta send Belteron dank ouse letter' he muses happily.

Aziza says to Hagor 'What a handsome sweater you have.'

Hostelner says to Katheryn 'If only I could stay and talk your ear off. Unfortunately I'm quite tired'

Celric takes a deep breath, and a small nod. He glances to Aziza, and between her and Elisabeth, 'Listen, y'know.. I thought, maybe we could talk a bit, when you can? I know we don't really, like. Uh. Do that, so.'.
Cabadath shakes his head at Katheryn, reganining his composture finally, 'No. Thank you. I know not if it matters, but i do, trully regret the way it ended at the Peaks.'.

Hagor says to Aziza 'Dank ouse'

Skylar walks south.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the south.

a single half moon stud glows briefly as Celric activates it.

a platinum vine with honeysuckle charms glows briefly as Aziza activates it.

Katheryn looks back at you with a faint smile, quiet a short moment before she offers, 'As am I. I wanted to offer myself, if you find yourself in need of someone to listen to you, to try and help you perhaps walk a better path. I would be ever glad to assist.'.

A blind, wretched-looking male human ambles near you saying 'Well, aren't you lucky today.'.

Katheryn inclines her head politely to you as she says, 'I pray you take care, Master Cabadath, and learn always from your experiences.'.

Elisabeth's brows knit a little as she listens to Celric, though she gives a slight nod in answer. 'I mayhaps should like that. Good company is ever welcome, Master Celric.'.

Cabadath breathes in slowly, then exhales slower even, nodding at Katheryn, 'I wish to see delivered the payments i'm liable to, the fastest possible. Could you aid with that, at first?'.

A blind, wretched-looking male human smiles.
