Faith Levels
============
Forgotten Kingdoms has a concept of 'faith levels' which tracks your seniority
within a given faith. The various levels are:
Initiate:
The first faith level for those accepted. Entering this stage will
make you a member of the faith, in a learning process. An esteemed member
will promote you to this level after their requirements for an individual
faith are fufilled(be it a task, a paper, or even simply observation over a
small amount of time where the hopeful expresses a fair amount of knowledge,
and behaves appropriately according to what dogma dictates.
At the initiate rank the only expectations and duties you have are to learn,
participate and live by the dogma of your deity.
Acolyte:
A full-fledged member of the faith. To gain this rank you must participate
in and interact with the faith as an initiate; taking lessons, performing
potential tasks and proving an increased knowledge of the faith. You must
exhibit behaviour proper to the dogma of the deity you chose, and their
alignment. An esteemed member of the faith will oversee your progress and
promote you when they feel you have gained the knowledge and shown the
behaviour of a full-fledged faithful.
At the acolyte rank the only expectations and duties you have are to learn,
participate, live by the dogma of your deity, and perform any small specific duties
asked by your faith manager.
Prelate:
A senior member of the faith. To gain this rank you must participate and
interact with the faith as an acolyte. The term senior is not determined by
years, but by effort you put forward towards the faith and knowledge given
and received about the faith. An esteemed member of the faith may promote you
to this rank if they feel you have exhibited appropriate behaviour and effort
within the faith. An impressive knowledge of the faith is required for this
rank, as well as the ability to share said knowledge at a whim.
At the prelate rank the expectations and duties you have are to learn,
participate, live by the dogma of your deity, share the knowledge of your
deity's dogma with any seeking it, and perform any specific duties asked by
your faith manager.
Inner Circle:
An esteemed member of the faith. To gain this rank you must participate and
interact with the faith as a prelate, exhibiting an impressive amount of
knowledge to do with the dogma of your deity, and sharing it with others.
Your faith manager may promote you to this rank after a length of impressive
devotion to your deity, and behaviour never straying from your deity's dogma.
At the inner circle rank the expectations and duties you have are to participate,
live by the dogma of your deity, share the knowledge of your deity's dogma
with any seeking it, and work as an advisor or partner to your faith manager.
Faith Manager:
An esteemed member, the leader of the faith. To gain this rank you must be
an active participant in your faith, having risen through the ranks and
performed any tasks given to you along the way. You must be available,
without long periods of absence. You are the Chosen of your deity, and only
they can name you their faith manager.
As a faith manager the expectations and duties you have are to participate,
live by the dogma of your deity, and share the knowledge of your deity's
dogma with any seeking it. You are the guide to young seeking to join the
faith, set to fairly observe their behavior and knowledge to help them rise
up the ranks of the faith. You're expected to hold meetings, events,
competitions or whatever else you may best find appropriate as a grounds for
keeping your faithful together, happy, and active.
With this new system of faith managers I have taken the time to run through every faith list and clean out our inner circle slots. Many of the characters in these slots were inactive, thus not performing the duties of the slot.
Further, with so many new faith managers there might be a time where they have done the job long enough that they choose their own, new advisers or partners.
Remember: The most important thing for gaining and staying in positions is consistency. Be here, be interested, be active as the character.
