RP speech, better to use dialect (Per'aps li' th's?), or not? your preference and why.

I, personally, prefer not to.

I believe it is entirely up to your characters RP the only race I think that requires an accent is the dwarven race.

Telk is correct, I know some Humans that they dont have a accent, And other humans where their accent is so heavy that its like the dwarven accent. So it IS entirely up to your self and maybe your Characters are they were born in

I think where the person is from would make a difference in their speech as well. I don't know what places would have dialects or not, but it would add some continuity to places of birth.

The use of special dialect or accent helps diversify the game, in that you're not subjected to the same, monotonous-looking text ALL THE WAY down your screen as you're playing. I personally enjoy seeing characters using slang or fragmented speech, because that's just how things would have been originally. I, myself play a character who can speak the common tongue as well as any scholar, but because of his background, he chooses not to. Why? Perhaps because he's proud of his heritage? As others said, I believe it's up to the player to decide.

Where it is the choice of the player, I do believe it has been said in the past seeing a dwarf who speaks perfect common is not something they wish to see. I can't seem to find the link to where it was said they'd like dwarves to have accents, so correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Help dwarven language.

They aren't talking about dwarves. Dwarves are expected to have some sort of accent. They are talking about humans, which it is completely up to the player whether or not they have an accent. I like to see players using accents to show where they are from regionally. It adds to rp in the game. I don't do it personally because I can't really get that much into the character to change the way I speak into the way they would speak. So, I roleplay them being from a diverse place, so they don't need to have an accent if I don't want them to.

That is what I was responding to Elwin.

I fully understood the topic. And like I stated while it is the choice of the player FOR ALL OTHER CLASSES I believe it is not for dwarves.

Keep it civil and constructive please.

For me it matters where the fellow or lass is from, Faerun and toril for that matter is a quilt of different tongues and dialects. There are societies that develope proper speaking and those that have a drawl to them. For me it deals with what I think is right and if my hands are up to the challenge of typing in a deep complex style.

It's just how you RP your character, or where he is from.
