Is there an as sociation between the type of the elf and their status in the Elven society, or of from which region/forest they are likely to come from?

E.G. are Sun Elves superior to Wild Elves? And do they only live in High Forest?

Hmm... someone else would be able to give you more detail, but from what I understand, the sun elves judge themselves as the superior race, and so would act accordingly.

The sun elves respect wood elves.

Sun elves would probably find wild elf barbarity distasteful.

Wild elves would probably find moon/sun elf civilisation strange.

Wood elves are generally said to lay down their conflicts, due to having learned from the experiences of the Crown Wars.

Moon elves find sun elves haughty.

That is all I can remember, without looking in my manuals, which are at present being borrowed by a friend. :( Sorry. I hope this little info can give you a bit of a guide.

SUn elves are generally referred to as Gold Elves in FK. But the above relationships seem accurate enough. I want to make sure to point out that the vast majority of "adventurer" elves are Moon Elves. When an elf PC is created, it is assumed to be a Moon Elf. Gold (and other) types should be applied for PRIOR to creation.

Actually, what I have read here in the "Help elves" files states this about the subraces that you can play without application:
PLEASE NOTE: For the purposes of Forgotten Kingdoms Moon Elves and Green Elves are the most common to be found. Play of other types of elves should be run past administrators first, with an appropriate background for approval. Do not attempt to step outside the bounds of the above given guidelines. To do so will result in a twisting of the FK environment which we are trying to develop.
So at least of the time of the help file, Green Elves were acceptable to play w/o app as well.

Has this changed, and just the help file needs to change?

And also, not knowing when this help file was written, does green elf refer to the 2nd edition Wood Elves, or the 3rd edition Wild Elves, after the Wood Elves became a separate subrace? From my observation, most of the Wild Elves I have seen in FK seem to lean more toward the 2nd edition description. Though I suppose this would make sense, since we still also hold to 2nd edition appearance and behaviors of dwarves and halflings.

I am pretty sure that the Green Elves refer to Wood Elves, but I am not sure about that.

My earlier post is incorrect, the help file is correct. Green elves do not require an application. I am not clear as to the admins specificity between Wood and Wild elves.

I would think that if we were drawing a line between copper elves and wild elves, copper elves would be the "green" elves that are most seen, in FK at least...

Wild elves hide in the southern forests and very rarely interact with anyone, where as copper elves are aware that the future of the elven people is tied to other races and act as such.

Just my opinion, obviously the game admins will have to give us a definitive answer..

Perhaps there is a way it could be done and picked automatically at the char's next login, much like the way the Font snags CN chars now before they exit to give them an option to change their align?

Obviously, it is not something that could be done by just filtering all the existing elves as a group into a single subrace, like moon elf. There are some long-standing, well RPed Wood Elves in FK as well, including a HP.

So, say Newt pops up when the elves log their char after the copyover, saying something to the effect of choosing your subraces. Chances are, most of these existing chars of special app or wood elf races have been played enough to make a min kismet if it applies.
