Ultravision? spell sealing?
Okay or more commonly known as underdark vision. It is what drows illithids duergar and deep gnomes have. It lets them see dark as clear as day and if in the light are blind as if at night.(unless you have daylight adaptation) So wouldn't this fit better than the natural infra they have since they can see in the dark unless its magical in underdark? Just curious -chuckle- And would be an interesting spell even though top side cant go downside....
And Spell sealing...or some sort of name like that
Would be an enchanter spell so when they enchant a weapon they could seal the magic in it so it doesn't wear off. Makeing a weapon truly magical and not just for a little while?

About this permanency...I think that enchanting weapons/armor is supposed to wear off, just like other spells. Otherwise everyone would be carrying around enchanted weapons, and wizzies would stand by the font enchanting plain longswords, etc. There wouldn't be any non-magic weapons, and those should FAR outnumber magical weapons (which they hardly do, really). Besides, it wouldn't be fair for fighters to have the benefit of a permanently enchanted weapon...as discussed in another thread (which I can't remember the name of), spells are intended to be for wizards more than any other class. Therefore, since they have the spell, it is ok for them to have constantly enhanced armor/weapons...whereas for a fighter it wouldn't make as much sense.
Think about a world where everything was magical (as it would almost certainly be with permanent enchant weapon/armor spells). Nothing would be worth as much, since magical items would no longer be rare, and we don't want our precious magical hoards to be worthless, do we?

They do wear off...
And enchanting weapons is an expensive process, I haven't heard of any PCs to do it, and if one emerges it will certainly not tolerate abuse.
Maybe there should be a lesser kind of enchant weapon, wearing off in a few hours, that gives the blade the ability to attack minor spectral beings?

Ah but finding someone with enchant weapon is a rare thing. Finding an enchanter priest or what have you that has the said spell. Makeing it permanent would be pricey and not something done often and thanks for clarifying the name I couldn't remember. It could even be restricted to be done once only so many mud days months years. Which would restrict it and I doubt anyone would enchant a plain longsword due to the fact even enchanted it would still take damage pretty fast. Just an opinion ya know. While perhaps a quest that could make one weapon magical for each pc to find it but can only be done would be cool to just my mind blabbing hehe sorry

More on Ultravision...
I think that this would be very good for Underdark races, to see during night as if it were day... wouldn't that just require a little bit of code, to set an inverse variable for the races that would have ultravision, so that when the MUD signals that it's dark, that's when it allows them to see full?
