acid based spells
acid based spells
I was thinking if one uses a acid type spell like acid blast which baths the person and or moster in acid that it could give a chance to blind the person since it is a burning substains plus has a good chance to melt or increase damage to low standard armor.

Acid arrow does inflict damage, but it isn't a very high leveled spell. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that its a bad idea.. In fact, I think its a great one! However, I think that if such acid-based spells are going to be coded to be as powerful as you mentioned, Zuldere, then I think the level requirement for the spells should be raised.
Oh, and another thing I've always wondered.. Doesn't acid burn, melt and permanently scar? Why's it that I don't see many being scarred because of acid? I understand that editing descrtiptions would be alot of work, but.. Just wondering.
P.S. I've had a long day.. forgive me if its another silly question of mine.

*nodnods* I agree, but the acid doesn't take up many hitpoints, and because of that, high-leveled(or moderately high-leveled) wizards who are unable to heal themselves don't usually go all the way to a healer to get their wounds healed.
So.. should races without elven blood be scarred because of acid?(I remember reading somewhere that elves are rarely scarred.. or summat like that.)

Just for the record, fire has at LEAST as much chance as acid, if not more, to cause serious and hideous scarring. Lightning as well could cause scarring, blindness, and burst eardrums, not to mention serious and lasting side effects on the nervous system. Acid does not have a monopoly on this stuff.
A goblin, a trickster, a warrior? A nameless terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. A most feared being in all the cosmos. Nothing could stop, hold, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.

*gulps as he glances again at the name* Err, then again, maybe you are...
*cringes and waits for a lightning bolt to smite him*
P.S. Talos, love your signature, that is the best movie of all time!

All kidding aside though, I do think that fire, lightning, and acid type spells should have an increased chance of burning or damaging armor and weapons.
I think that acid blinding someone would have to be extremely rare as it is a subjective case, and it would only apply to certain acid spells. Acid arrow (going from Melf's Acid Arrow, presumably) is merely an arrow that pumps acid into the point of contact. Acid blast though might, though I would would merely think the pain from the flesh being eaten away to the bone would be a minor thing to blindness.
