Examining Coins

Just had an idea for a command, when you examined a pile of coins, it would tell you exactly how much they are worth, sort of like when you type 'worth' but only counting what you are examining:

Lets say you had a pile of 185 silver coins.

You could type 'examine silver'

You would get:

You see nothing special.
There are about 185 coins.
You have 3 platinum, 3 gold, 1 electrum in silver coins.
It is medium in size.
It is made of silver and weighs about 8 pounds.

The only thing new is the "You have 3 platinum, 3 gold, 1 electrum in silver coins."

Well... Can't you just tuck away all your other coins until you only have silver coins and type "gold"? That's what I've always done and it works well for me. *shrug*

Yea, you can. I just thought this would be easier when managing many different piles coins. Also when you are trying to give someone a specific amount in a coin of lesser value. Say you wanted to give someone 5 plat in copper, then you could just check the amount you are going to give you to make sure the amount is right.

Also, money bags make things a bit more difficult when trying to determine how much you have in your inv and you keep your money in a pouch. Im not saying it is a very big deal, but this would just be a small help.

Maybe an abacus or accounting feat or skill could be created to allow you to see the individual amounts for each coin demonination?

Hmm, dont know if anyone would actually spend a feat point on such a small change, though. I could be wrong, of course.

Perhaps it could be determined by int wether you can calculate quickly how much coin in such a pile? Sorta like how you cant see how much something weighs unless you have something (I dont know what, heh).

I'm sure math and accounting lovers would not mind spending a feat point or exp on this, but it could also be developed as a trade. The Help file itself gives a handy road maps for coinage:

the following is a list of the coins equivalent value in copper:

1 copper = 1 copper
1 silver = 10 copper
1 electrum = 50 copper
1 gold = 100 copper
1 platinum = 500 copper

for example, if you hold 5 copper, 3 electrum and 20 gold coins you will have either 2,155 copper, 215 silver and 1 copper, 13 electrum and 5 copper, 20 gold and 3 electrum and 5 copper, and 4 platnium and 3 electrum 5 copper. (Bear in mind i am a terrible mathematician and might have made mistakes please correct them if you wish to)

On the other hand a conversion calculator might be built for the website to, feed in the number of coin you have and have it broken down in the type selected, that could be an interesting and useful tool.

Another little suggestion to throw into the pot: if it were to be on intelligence or a feat skill or whatnot I don't think that it should be exact but a estimate.
