New pose option

Post by Velsavius » Mon Nov 28, 2005 12:20 pm

I think this would be possible but am not sure how hard it would be to implement, but I was thinking that currently in the game your PC has to walk into an area first and then set a pose, but whatif a new "pose option" were created that worked like an entrance prog on yourself. For instance
Now when you enter the market square it's simply
(PC) walks in from the west!!! (Or at least thats what everyone else sees)
How bout creating something that allows you set a new prog on your char that allowed you to do something like
(PC) 'movement type' (normal direction) 'some information'...
This therefore would allow you to have something like..

Velsavius staggers in from the west covered in blood
or
Velsavius skips in from the west whistling a merry tune. (not)

I know it doesn't really affect the game in any way but it would probably open up more RP between players and could certainly start up threads of conversation explaining why and how your character got themselves into that condition.

I am normally all for improvements for the game.....but I don't think we need this. You can already do this with some fast typing or forsight into what you want. This would just add another very specialized command. You can do this with emote or smote, just not quite what you want. So I say why add another command to the to do list.

I also have to say it seems unnecessary. Generally when I want to make a big or different entrance with my character I string commands together before I enter the area.

In Example:

Code: Select all

w;smot walks into the square, and props his axe upon his shoulder
Rad Adam - the Eye of the Storm
"So Lonestar, now you see that evil will always triumph, because good is dumb."

There you have it! you don't need another command we already have the power. Now go out into the world and....... enter rooms with big flamboyant entrances..... I got nutthin'. But you can already do this, so cool.

Thanks for that, I didn't know that was possible.

Yeah...the smote works well for this... he,he

Shabanna regularly staggers in drunk or shimmies into rooms.
It is a lot of fun to come up with a grand entrance. Tough, I think I will leave the "bleeding heavily from massive wounds" stuff for all you bloody (literally) Tempurians :P

It has been a very long time since I have been a builder and I've never built on a Smaug code-base, but..

Is it possible to code where we can change the MOBs long description for say.. a mercenary flunky?

I know you can order them to smote and the like, but sometimes they won't always be flipping a weapon in their hand if say they're drowning in a lake with you.

I would suggest applying for the pet to have it's long description amended. This is usually possible if an Imm is willing.

Though I have to remark.. what is a soldier of Tempus doing hiring mercenary guards... sounds very cowardly and dishonourable to me :)

...You do realize most Tempurians themselves are considered mercenaries, correct?...
