Intelligent animals?

I was just reading one of the other posts and it mentioned Lurue's sphere of influence/followers/what have you as "intelligent animals" ie--unicorns. I was just wondering...what other "intelligent animals" are there in Forgotten Realms (i never played table-top, i just try to read the novels and things) and what defines them as "intelligent?"

Thanks.

Intelligent animals are those with INT scores of 3 or greater, according to the Player's Handbook (3 is the minimum for a human, and it's abysmal; an animal with a 3 INT will be able to manage only the most basic concepts). I've heard that an INT score multiplied by 10 is equal to what the IQ of that character would be.

I don't know many of the other intelligent animals of Forgotten Realms, but going by the definition in the PHB, I guess a lot of animals would qualify-- ravens, dolphins, monkeys, and the other "smarter" animals that actually exist have, I believe, an INT scores above three. As for animals that can match or outmatch humans, I believe griffons and dragons qualify as well as unicorns, and a whole bunch of others that I'm just not quite geeky enough to know about :-P

There's lots of intelligent animals in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. I really don't want to go into listing all of them because there's so many and continual updates to the game (i.e. via Dragon or Dungeon magazines) constantly change that number.

If you have a specific question or type of animal in mind, I can research it.

A tressym is the first FR intelligent animal that comes to mind. It has an INT score of 12! I find them adorable. :)

Extract of Puppy? (*Imagines a puppy in a blender until he liqueifies into a nice little bottle of extract*)

Also, there is a pretty good, but old discussion, that I went back and looked for. I think it could possibly be helpful. :)

Gosh, I'm gonna sound so silly saying this, but I just couldn't resist.

I think pigs are smart, but I'm not sure if its true according to the Player's Handbook. I highly doubt it.

How about dragons, wyrms and wyverns? They're strong, but are they intelligent?

Dragons are amongst the most intelligent creatures in the multiverse. Most of them are cleverer than archmages, and they have a civilisation spanning through time since before the elves arrived in Faerun. So, yeah. In intelligence-wise, dragons are incredible.

Wyverns... I'm not actually sure.
