Hello. I was wondering: for RP, to explain the new spells, I have been calling the code update "the Shift". Is this permissable? Are we supposed to pretend it has always been like that? My reasoning behind this, was that several components have changed, etc.
Just looking for some back-up, here. *shrugs*
The Great Shift?

I don't really have a problem with it. I've actually heard very few IC reasons for the change. Maybe there is already one in place that I just haven't heard about. Those I have, have been along the same lines as yours (blossoming of the weave, blessing of Mystra, progression of magic, etc.) So, I would say you'd pretty much be agreeing with what I've seen other players RP. I'm not am Imm or anything so I can't give you permission to RP as such, but in my opinion it makes sense and would be permissable to do so.

I've always been of the opinion that changes to game mechanics should be taken in stride and ignored from an IC perspective. I just play through changes as if things have always been that way. My reasoning for this is that there was no in-game plot or storyline to bring in the changes, it's really just a game mechanics update to bring things up to date with 3.5.
