Trail

I would like to propose a skill, perhaps it could be called track...or something of the sort. I wasn't really able to find anything quite like it on the forums, so I thought I would post and give it a shot. The skill would allow a thief or ranger to trail someone from one room away. Basically it would work just like follow, except you don't have to be in the same room, and you will always stay one room away. Since thieves no longer have track, this will help for those more tedious missions where one must wait for a target to be less visible. It would allow for some great rp situations. Let me know your thoughts/concerns.

This has been discussed back and forth, and it always seems to end the same way.

Thieves will not get a skill such as this; it will be reserved for the scouts.

One may dream a little, though. :)

This is a reasonable variant for the track skill that would give evils a chance to have something similar.

There is no plan, at this time, to ever set up a scout guild.

The most recent changes were headed in the direction of sticking more closely to the D&D rules, and scouts are just rangers or thieves with the corresponding skills.

When was track removed from thieves?

If I remember what I have read on the forums correctly, a few years ago, in anticipation of this scouts guild.

EDIT: Took the liberty of digging it up for ya. Here it is, boss.

Well, thieves got "track" back as of today.

There are no "thieves" per se in 3rd edition, only rogues. I am not going to push for a change in name because (a) it might create a lot of problems, (b) it would entail a lot of modifications in many areas, and (c) it is frankly not worth the effort, but please do not consider that members of the "thief" class are all thieves, robbers, "stealers". There's much more to "thieves" (let's call them rogues, shall we?) than just stealing.
